I just purchased the CD version of HeroDesigner from the local comic book /game shop. I put the CD in the drive and it didn't auto launch. I tried launching the setup.exe file under the Windows directory, but that failed to do anything as well. My understanding from reading other threads is that the setup.exe should expand the HeroDesigner files onto my PC's Hard Drive. This is on a WinXP machine that more that meets the System requirements of the software. I'm going to try my Win98 machine and Linux box, but my preference is to run this on the WinXP box. Any suggestions?

Sounds like there's something funky going on with either your WinXP machine or with the CD.
Try the executable on the Win98 box. If it works there, then there's something up with the WinXP machine. If it doesn't work there, then there's likely something wrong with the CD that you purchased (possibly a bad burn).
You may also try opening up "setup.exe" with WinZip....

I'll give it a try on the Win98 box. I just tried Linux and can't get it going there either. Bummed. This is under RedHat Linux 7.3.
Off to try Win98....

Sounding a lot like a bad CD....
The good news is that if you contact Ben (beenseeman@herogames.com) and explain things to him, he should be able to get a new copy out to you right away.

OK, tried Win98 and got a message .... "setup.exe" not a valid Win32 application". Argh!
Thanks for the follow-ups. Looks like I'll be contacting Ben as per your reply.
Can't wait to build some of my old 3E characters and double check them under 5E rules.
