Question about installing updates

Forgive me if this information is in some obvious place, but I didn't see it. Also forgive me because it seems like the answer must be very plain and simple, but I couldn't figure it out.

Basically, how does one update? I installed the CD version of the program, 1.0, and went to the website where I downloaded 1.46. However, unlike every other update to software I've done, there's no .exe file to run the update. All of the update files are just sitting in a zipped folder called Update.jar in my Hero Designer folder. I tried extracting them to the Hero Designer folder, but I wasn't prompted to overwrite old files and so I'm still running 1.0. Apparently nobody else is having a problem with this, but I can't figure it out.

You just copy the update.jar file into your Hero Deisgner folder.

Thanks. For some reason, it didn't work the first two times I tried it. I had to keep deleting and downloading it, which was weird. But it seems to be working now.

I'll note that IE sometimes does weird things with the update file on my computer. That is, when I save it, it tries to save it as a winzip file. So I end up with 'update.jar.zip'. When I open it, it gives me an enormous file list. I eventually figured out it was just an extension problem, and deleted the '.zip' bit and it worked fine.

Just a bit of advice for anyone who's run into a similar problem.

How can you know for sure what version it is? Mine says "v 1.0", but I have the latest update jar file in the folder. It does not have the ".zip" extension, it's just "update.jar". It is only 53KB, is that the right size?

That is not the correct version. You need to download the new version from the website, and it should be around 2.28 MB in size. When you start the download make sure you name the file Update.jar and make sure the download is going to your main Hero Designer folder.

When that is done and you open the program the screen should say version 1.47 on it.

Weird. I tried it again and still got a 53KB file. Then I tried using Internet Explorer instead of Netscape, and it worked just fine--
