View Full Version : [Campaign] The new, NEW Champions of Vancouver!

The place: Vancouver, BC.
The time: 2007.
The Campaign: Champions of Vancouver-S. Filmed in stunning Champanimation!
Yours truly has been volunteered to run a game on alternating days. For simplicity's sake (and my owm personal laziness ;-) ), I'm using the same setting and character levels as QM's 'Champions of Vancouver' game, but letting people create new characters.
So, the nitty-gritty:
Dramatis Personae
Nemesis: Duplicating Luchadore/Provate investigator
Writeup: http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59228
Headache: Multi-Millionaire Mentalist.
Where it all began...
*Note* My notes are kind of sketchy, and I wasn't at 100% when this all happened. Apologies if I make any recall errors
A quiet morning, with only a few newsbites; Zorran the Artificer was killed in a running battle between him, the Motor City Defenders, and a SWAT sniper who realized that he had a daughter that looked a lot like Cantrip. And, There are ongoing calls for tighter links between the RCMP and Primus.
Not, of course, that these are hints of anything to come. :)
But anyway...
Both PCs come across it in different ways; Headache gets a call from a freaked out investor. Nemesis sees it from the street. What, pray tell?
Icicle and Snowblind. Showed up planning to rob the same store wearing the same outfit. :-) The fight, which I had been looking forward to, ended rather lopsidedly, even when I sprung Snowblind's Duplication ability on them. Nemesis took down Snowblind in true Luchadore fashion, while Headache managed to mind control a fleeing Icicle.
So, a quick shut down to an otherwise messy fight. Surprise turn: Icicle's cellphone explodes, injuring her and the restraining officer.
Investigation:
-No real link, and there were several such incidents all over town; no common link between types of cellphones that went boom.
Random patrols resume; Nemesis resumes his weapons hunt, while Headache busts a kid...trying to boost an AMC Gremlin.
Honestly, I've lost track of the leads I left. Guys, any recall of the events? It all came down to a face off on the boat of someone who Nemesis was able to trick into thinking he wanted to pick up some high tech toys, with a combination of good RPing and a few rolls. Shame they used cellphones to keep in touch.
They're expected. Someone tries to snipe headache from the river, using a high powered energy rifle, and gets a bath thanks to a TK boat flip. Seeing things have gone pearshaped, he ghosted out. End session, next up...
Heck, I don't know! I'll have to move up my 'Aggressors of Dark Shaolin' storyline, I guess.
The Good:
Experience Awarded - 3
Had some good investigative work done by the PCs
The Bad:
Stumbled a bit at the outset. Need to have some maps ready the next time I run a battle. Plus have writeups on hand of major nemeses
The Ugly:
Could have had a blaster. Or a Brick. Or a martial artist. But nooo, I had to have a mentalist and a duplicator ;-)

Could have been worse. Could have been a duplicating mentalist :)

My work addled haze has made me forget to post the happenings of our prior session...silly of me.
As always, my notes are a bit sketchy, though I daresay the session went a bit smoother than last time; better notes, prepared characters, and, praise Allston, honest to goodness maps! But anyway...
Part 1: Cleanup
Started the session with cleanup from the prior day's fight; the boat had been sunk, not by a hole in the hull, but by a small device that phased out part of the hull, allowing the guy trying to sell the gimmicked cellphones and assorted blasters to escape.
The police finally showed up, and cleanup was handled in short order; the CEO had been transported to a nearby hotel by one of Nemesis' duplicates, where he was cleaned up. The sniper that Headache had taken out (in grand fashion; a TK flip of the Zodiac said shooter was hiding out on; I have to make TK proof villains from now on.) Ran a quick meet and greet with the media, then, courtesy of some GM contrivance, it was off to the plant!
(flash over to New Westminster)
The team came across some vehicles being loaded at a small warehouse, in actuality a remodeled R&D plant for Blackgate Industries.
Nemesis arrived first; tried to bluff his way past the guards outside; One went in to check on N's story, while the rest covered all of Nemesis. Him. Them.
Skuld's Mallet, I HATE DUPLICATORS! Ahem...
So a fight breaks out. Headache takes one out with a well placed set of Ego Attacks, while Nemesis 2 - 6 take down the guards. Then came some mind-control flavoured interrogation, leading to some intel on an incoming pickup. Original Nemesis followed the guard that went inside. Thug+ pulled an energy sword and tried to gut Nemesis, while N2 thru N6 covered the outside.
Finally, a one on one fight...
Well, Thug+ or no, he dropped, after scoring a few glancing blows. All the guards were tied up, and put in the back of one of the getaway vans, which had the back end crushed shut. Incoming pickup boat, planning to dock near Westminster Quay, somehow got wind of what happened, and booted it out.
That pretty much ended the sequence, some more PC intros and semi-veiled posing aside.
High point: Headache's names for the Nemesis Duplicates. Smashy, Bashy, Gnashy, etc.
Next day:
Two things to do: Evil Steve joins the group with his new character, Ifrit. Demonic superbrick with a full CvK by night, paramedic by day. He gets called out to several low level brick fights all over the city; seems that someone's running a Metabrawl, and anyone with a STR over 20 can't wait to strut their stuff.
And, Ifrit's uncle decided to register the poor lad for the Brawl. I look forward to the upcoming attempted uncle-cide trial...
But, the big news was a video vclip of Green Dragon, that Kung Fu fightin' super hoodlum, getting a royal beatdown.
By Bulldozer.
More next session, plus the debut of my quickly thrown together Random Brick system!

Nemesis's Personal Log
Date: 2007-09-24
Location: Pacific Center, 555 West Georgia Street, Vancouver
SSN: Bulletin:
Alberta Government supports US PRIMUS Initiative.
Zorn the Artificer, killed by MCPD SWAT Sniper in battle with Motorcity Defenders.
Investigation (Part 1):
I was sitting in my office and investigating a tip about a local Drug Dealer is selling Super-Tech arms to local street gangs and contributing to the escalting gang violence in the city. My Client Mr. Chin wants find who his supplier is and bring them to justice. I have also heard rumors that sume Super Tech Weapons may soon be available. Then I got a the text message.
"Superhuman Assistance Requested - Icicle and Snowblind fighting around Pacific Center."
I changed into my costume and leaped out of the window and travelled across the roof tops to the scene. I took the high road and found a perch on the Scotia Bank Tower overlooking the scene. Frozen chaos, Ice and Snow every where. Problem was there was not just two combatants, but 5, no 4. One just shattered to ice chips.
My Duplicate leaped off the buidling to the battleground below and I followed. N2 tried to grab an transparent Icicle and she shattered into ice chips. N3 and N4 coordinated with N5 and N6 for multipul "Fast Ball Specials and tackled two more combatants. One shattered, but the other turned out to be Snowblind. Meanwhile I questioned the VPD Officer on scene. apparently one or the other tried to robe a Jewelry Store, but enountered the other doing the same. A fight broke out and Vancouver started freezing over.
Icicle wined about how each of her Duplicates where worth a thousand each. Seeing the odds turned against her she fled. Meanwhile Headache flew on to the scene. Seeing Icicle escaping he gave chase. She seemed to shrug off his Ego Attacks and moved faster.
N3 and N4 restrained Snowblind who tried to give them the cold foot, but failed. N1, 2, 5 and N6 leaped after the Escaping Icicle, but it was fairly clear she was faster and would escape.
Headache somehow convinced her that she could take these heroes and and stopped and started monologuing. Allowing Nemesis to catch up. Soon she was surounded by 4 Nemesises and Headache flying overhead. Headache again implanted the suggestion that she was out numbered and aught to surrender. Which she did.
I saluted Headache and N5 and N6 restrained and escorted Icicle back to the VPD Officer, Snowblind and N3 and N4. I was curious about her Ice Duplicates and asked where she got them. She indicated the Power Belt she was wearing allowed her to create Temporal Echoes, creating the effect of Duplication. She looked at us and I smiled and said "No Belt, all natural"
When I asked her where she got it she clammed up, but before she could name her supplier her cell phone exploded, seriously injuring her and scoarching a VPD Officer close by her. We got her to the VGH Burn Ward. Once there we learned that it was not just Icicle's cell phone that exploded, but around 30 to 50 throughout the lower mainland. Leaving the hospitals overwhelmed.
Later that day Headache passed on some information he aquired and confirm what Icicle told us about a Super-Tech Arms Dealer operating out of Blackgate Industries Warehouse on Annacis Island. They would deal in cash, but also accepted drugs.
Icicle learned about the Arms Dealer from a local Fence. I asked for Headache's help and he agreed. I disguised myself as Kelly an up and coming Drug Dealer having trouble with his gang and local superheroes. Headache supplied some Jewelery for me to trade with the fence and I strong armed a Drug Dealer for some Drugs to complete the image.
Moving quickly I approaches the Fence and we made a deal. He would arrange for a meet with the Super-Tech Arms Dealer in exchange for the Jewelry. I readily agreed. Unbeknowced to Nemesis, Headache later captured the Fence leaving and reclaimed his Jewelry.
I later learned from Blackgate Industries that CEO Devon McCade had not been seen for several weeks.
The next afternoon I staked out the Devonian Harbour Park Docks and found Devon McCade's Yacht. It appeared empty from the outside. i checked with the manager and learned that no one had been one the Yacht in months. Maintaining my disguise I also inquired if he had any slips left open. He said they were currently full up and passed me on to someone nearby with an spare slip for my boat.
At the appointed time I met the Arms Dealer in the park and we exchanged introductions and I gave him my gift (Money and Drugs). Then we walked to the docks and there was a new Yacht tied off. It also belonged to Blackgate Industries.
Once onboard he showed me his stock and I learned that it was not the cell phones that exploded, but the batteries and that he was responsible and did not care who got hurt. The Energy Weapons he showed me had Power Cells with the same explosive devices inside.
It was then that he revealed that he knew I was not who I said I was. Headache was watching from a distance and saw a Sniper in a Zodiac Boat zeroing in on Nemesis. He used his TK to flip the boat and closed with the Yacht.
I multiplied my Villains trouble and then he did the unexpected. He turned translucent and phased through the deck and vanished. Then the Yacht began to sink. He had somehow scuttled her. We quickly grabbed some evidence and leaped to safety. Then we called the Police.
We in investigated the second Blackgate Industries Yacht and found Devon McCade tied up in a ships locker. He was dehydrated and had spent several weeks in there. We took him to a nearby hotel. Got his cleaned and fed.
Meanwhile I stayed behind to work with the VPD Detectives. The VPD Officers arrested the Sniper when he crawled ashore.
The Good:
Surprised the GM with Duplicates
Awarded 3xp.
The Bad:
Apprehenion of Icicle and Snow Blind. Two teenage girls by six adult men in masks... LOL

Nemesis's Personal Log
Date: 2007-10-01
Location: Devonian Harbour Park, Vancouver and Annacis Island, Delta.
Investigation (Part 2):
One of my Dulicates remained at the crime scene to cooprerate with the Police Investigation and coordinate our efforts. I informed them of what we had learned before arriving and what happened when we meet the Super-Tech Arms Dealer.
Meanwhile the other Duplicates cleaned up, fed, and then interviewed Devon McCade the CEO of Blackgate Industries. When asked what happened he told us that he vaguely remebered being attacked from behind and a cloth covering his face. Then the long hours in the ships locker.
We informed him that we had been led to beleive that Blackgate Industries had been selling Super-Tech Arms on the Blackmarket from his warehouse on Annacis Island he made a connection. Aparently, he and his staff had been investigating some irregularities at that warehouse about three weeks ago. Shortly after he was kidnapped.
We asked for permission to search the warehouse which he gave. We contacted Headache and collected ourselves to race to warehouse. I met with my Duplicate at the harbour and we informed the Police of our intentions and I gave them my Hero buisness card. We rejoined and I raced off to the warehouse.
I arrived aheadof Headache to find 7 to 8 men loading 3 white, unmarked, panel vans. The men were all armed and armoured. I drove my bike right into the parking lot and multiplied. They challenged us as we approached.
Bad Guy #1: "You are going to have to leave sir."
Nemesis #1: "No Sir, the Boss sent us. He is expecting trouble from some Superhumans and we have been hired to provide back up."
Other Bad Guys are covering Nemesis #1 with Assault Rifles.
Bad Guy #1: "He did not inform us? You'll have to wait here until I can verify your claim." He heads inside and the others continue to cover Nemesis #1.
Nemesis #1: "Sure, no problem" He turns his back on the Bad Guy and shrugs at his Duplicates. "Now!"
Nemsis #1 fails an Acrobatics Roll and falls to the ground instead of backflipping over the Bad Guys and into the Warehouse after Bad Guy #1. Nemesis's #2 to #6 leap to attack the Bad Guys.
Headache takes the opportunity to blast the 3 left over Bad Guys.
N2 and N3 grabs their targets. N4 to N6 miss. Before Nemesis #1 can move 2 Bad Guys shoot him to little effect. He kips up and races into the warehouse after the Leader.
There is much Grabbing, Throwing, and Striking going on outside. And very quickly the fight is over. Headache somehow got on of the Bad Guys to talk. One of his Bad Guys cell phone rang and he forced one him to answer it as if everything was undercontrol.
Inside Nemesis #1 charged the Leader's Energy Rifle and they engage in Hand to Hand. The Leader surprises Nemesis by pulling an Energy Sword on him and cuts up his costume really badly. Finally Nemesis takes him out and once secured takes his prisoner outside.
Meanwhile outside N2, N3, and N4 Grabbed the panel vans and Headache, N5, and N6 captured the drivers. We emptied one of the Vans, devested them of their belongings and secured them in an emptied panel van and then We surrounded the building waited for the Police.
Once they arrived we searched the warehouse and found all clear and turned everything over to them.
A NWPD Officer reported that a yacht was seen apporaching a near by dock, but fled before Marine Patrol could apprehend them. Headache confirmed that the Bad Guy told him that was the location for them to transfer the goods.
Later that night at home when he checked his website he found this. A Charity Fund Raiser for the Children's Hospital sent Nemesis an invitation to a Superhuman's Combat Arts Exhibition. Its for a good cause and there is likely to be trouble so I may as well go anyway.
SSN: Bulletin:
In a surprise super battle today Bulldozer defeated Green Dragon. After reviewing the video, Nemesis saw that Bulldozer was wearing a NEW power belt.
The Good:
The Agents out numbered us, but we out fought them.
Awarded 3xp.
The Bad:
Need to buy new costume.
The Ugly:
Thinking my Character may be a bit much for a new GM.

Charity Event - Brick Wrestling?
New Case - Missing Persons
Investigation (Part 3):
I contacted the Charity Coordinator and Insisted that the Children's and Women's Hospital Charity Office handle all the proceeds from the event before (I) Nemesis would participate. They agreed and so I made arrangements. I also looked up the Promoter and the Legality of it. Everything checked out. He is a businessman, but it will raise fund for the charity.
Then I check my messages. An Alicia Prowitt wants to hire me to find her missing son. I contact her at home and I learn that 2 days ago he disappeared from his room while playing a video game MMORPG. When he disappeared. The Vancouver Police Department is investigating, but they have no leads. I ask to meet with her and we make an appointment.
I do some research before heading over. First I contact the VPD Investigating Officer, Detective Robert Ying and informed him that I have been retained to find Drake Porwitt. My contacts with the police seem to be getting better. He tells me what they have done so far and they even returned the young mans computer when they could not find anything.
I rode over to the Prowitt residence and found Mrs. Prowitt alone at home. I introduce myself and we discuss my rates. I learn that her husband is away on business, but is on his way home. He is at a Software Designer conference in Austin, Texas.
I get Mrs. Prowitt to sign the necessary documentation and then begin the investigation. She confirms what the Detective told me. I reconnected the computer and with her help logged on to his computer. I loaded up the video game called "Colossal Quest" made by a compnay in Alberta called UgerSoft (a Microsoft Contractor) and checked his account. He was away from his computer at exactly 02:00hrs.
Then I checked his Battle Recorder and noted down who he was gaming with at the time. They're were 3 other online at the time he was gaming. I noted there name and then checked the main website. All four gamer were away from their machines at the same time. The Account Manager logged them off after 24hrs. I got the IP: Addresses of all four Gamers and contact Inspector Frank Chase at the RCMP Liaison Office to contact Telus and get addresses on all of them and contact me right away.
He called back an 30mins later and informed gave me all their addresses. I then I contacted Detective Ying inquired if there had been any more missing persons from those addresses. The answer was a disturbed yes. There have been 8 disappearances in the last 2 weeks.
As the Battle Recorder played the 2pm mark the telephone rang. Mrs. Prowitt picked it up and then held it away from her ear. It was the electronic noise you here from a Fax Machine. I got out my iPhone and recorded it. She mentioned it had happened a couple of times in the last 2 days. I began to suspect subliminal programming using the video game and the electronic phone calls. That's when I noticed Mrs. Porwitt was missing. I again contacted Detective Ying and notified him that Mrs. Prowitt has fallen victim to whatever effected the other victims. He told me there been 20 reported disappearances in the lower mainland. All have matched the same M.O. as Drake Prowitt's.
I raced outside and found her walking dazedly up the street. I shadowed her and notified the Robert that the I had a lead and to stay by his phone. We walked over six blocks before I say my suspect. A nervous looking man with an 80s style huge cell phone with all kinds of extra antennas and dials.

My personal Quote of the night:
(As Nemesis is doing a Jackie Chan-esque victory dance. With his duplicates)
Flunky: Are you Foxbat?
Nemesis. No. I'm his sidekick!
Next planned (Once RL lets up again): Superbrawl, fanboys from the future (Dude, it's Ifrit!), and more high tech shenanigans.
'I have uncovered your secret, Bulldozer...I know that your power comes from...(pause) That zone of sheer machismo, the MUSCLE ZONE!' (Starts flexing)
-Foxbat, just before Bulldozer flattens him.

Apologies for the extreme delay. I'll say 'Real Life', and you say 'procrastinator', and we'll meet somewhere in the middle. 'kay? Good.
As always, corrections are welcomed; I was running, and didn't have a chance to take any detailed notes.
Anyway, on last week's session, it was...FIGHT NIGHT!
Nemesis did the opener, a rather impressive(ly rolled) demo fight, featuring himself and his duplicates fighting each other. I have to admit, you can pull off some mighty impressive stunts when you have a lot of you on your side...
Headache showed up in his capacity as Single Rich Guy, transported there courtesy of GM railroad :D.
Ifrit, who was registered by his soon to be severly beaten on uncle, opened up with a rather one sided fight. It wasn't pretty. Good Guys 1, Random Brick Table 0.
Just to change things up, I had Genocide show up with some high tech goodies, screaming the usual diatribe about how they'd purify the world of the commie mutant traitors. Nemesis took on a group of them, and Headache manage to convince one that his gun was about to blow up in his hands.
Ifrit...had fun. Pummels were handed out. It was a wrestling ring, whaddaya expect? It was also a fairly quick fight; I think it took, what, one turn plus change guys?
Then Bulldozer showed up, using Green Dragon's mask as a hankie, riding a somewhat beaten on Harley, boom box blasting some deathmetal. Calls out one of the PCs. Nemesis, IIRC, plays verbal tag with him, until Foxbat shows up. Convinced that Bulldozer has tapped into that mystical dimension of machismo known as the Muscle Zone, The caped crackpot leaps into battle. And gets pasted. Interlude over, enter PCs, stage left.
Headache...can't recall.
Ifrit dished out the pummeling, and discovered Bulldozer's secret. His gaudy 'champeenship' belt had a nasty surprise built in: linked Mind Control (One command: You don't know Martial Arts, which didn't work so well when, technically, no-one there actually took any) and a DEX drain, 2d6. Had I planned more ahead, I'd have made it a transfer to STUN or Body, but anyway...It also let him take a heap of abuse. High points included Bulldozer getting up over and over again, Said thug getting his...vitals introduced to one of the ring posts (A fine old pro-wrestling move) courtesy of Nemesis.
I seem to recall a massive, massive beatdown, ending with the ring being destroyed courtesy of a somewhat overkill move by Ifrit. And FOxbat decalring that his Master Plan had not been foiled after all, thanks to his newly appointed sidekicks. Again, help with recall welcomed.
Close: Discovered yet another ultra-tech device, this being wired into Bulldozer's spine, which powered the Drain et al mentioned above. And said Bulldozer being carted off in an ambulance, driven by a rather ticked off Green Dragon.
Had fun. I just need to be more careful about taking notes!

SSN: Bulletin:
In a live interview with Nemesis tonight at the Unlimited Wrestling Children's & Women's Hospital fun raiser. When asked we asked if Nemesis and the other Superheroes were the NEW Champions of Vancouver he is quoted as saying.
"No way, were Foxbat's Sidekicks!"
In other news the ambulance carrying Bulldozer was hijacked by Green Dragon. Rumors are he is seeking revenge for last weeks humiliation.
----------------------------------------------------------------
In other news the Chinese government report the escape of Lucky Bandit and the disappearance of Summer Cloud of the Tiger Squad. Rumours indicate they may be in the Vancouver, BC area.
Investigation (Part 4):
In the aftermath of the Big Brawl I was approached by one of the UNTIL Agents and he asked if I was interested in the Superhero Liaison Program. I actually expressed and interest. Commenting that it would be cool to UNTIL resources at my beck and call. He looked slightly take aback before realizing it was a joke.
He also asked to meet with everyone... That would be Headache and Ifrit who helped put down the thugs and captured all the Bad Guys save Foxbat who eluded capture and Bulldozer who was apparently kidnapped by Green Dragon.
I exchanged cards with Ifrit and Headache and asked if they would be interested in meeting some place secure to talk about out involvement in the Super-Tech investigation. They agreed.
Ifrit believed he had a place for us to meet and said to meet there in an hour. I assisted the Police in the clean up and then went back to the office to check my messages. An hour later
we arrived at a closed restaurant near Cambie and 12th in Vancouver.
We discussed the case and I informed them of UNTIL's offer. Eventually we agreed to meet with the UNTIL Agent at the UNTIL Headquarters in Downtown Seattle. We would travel independently, and meet at the location in costume.
We arrived at the Experience Music Project ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Experience_Music_Project ) where we drew more than a few stares before heading the the UNTIL Base.
There we meet again with the UNTIL Agent we met in Vancouver and takes us to a briefing room to discuss the case. UNTIL's UNITY members have looked into the Super-Tech we turned over and Mentiac reports that it is unknown to him. While Dr. Black and Dr. White report it is Technomagical in origin.
The only known creators of this Technomagical-Technology are Zorran the Artificer, who is confirmed deceased and Gyre of the Devil's Advocates, who's profile does not match the suspected Arms Dealer.
The only evidence we have is the components for are made by Blackgate Industries. I contact the CEO Devon McCade and request a list of all missing resources from Blackgate Industries and compare it to the what everyone has recovered. That may tell us how much remains out their for now. It also might lead us to the Arms Dealers location of caches.
After the meeting the UNTIL Agent asks us to meet with the Chinese Diplomat and Tiger Squad Liaison Mr. Liang in one of the boardrooms. We agreed. Apparently the Lucky Bandit, an escaped superhuman and Summer Cloud, a rogue Tiger Squad member have been reportedly seen in Vancouver with an east coast superhero called The Lady of the Green Lantern.
The Chinese government is seeking extradition of both Lucky Bandit and Summer Cloud, but the Canadian government is stone walling. There will be Tiger Squad members in Vancouver to aid in their arrest and capture. They are asking us for our help.
I informed him that we are not a team as of yet, but I for one do not view them as criminals and would aid them if they requested it. I also informed him that if an Tiger Squad members break the law I would place them under arrest and see them deported faster than the Red Bullet can run.
A very annoyed Mr. Liang leave the room and I turn and share a smile with the UNTIL Agent. It is time to go. We exchange contact information with UNTIL and return home.
The next day I catch up on some of my cases, spend some time to on patrol, and meet my girl for a date. I receive a call on my Nemesis cellphone. It is Mr.McCade, he sends me the list of missing materials and I send it on to the VPD, RCMP, and UNTIL.
Mr.McCade also makes me an offer. He wants to give me a Blackgate Industries new State-of-the-Art Laptop Computer at an official presentation and release party. I agree, I also invite Ifrit and Headache. (Headache declines, but shows up in his Secret ID, as a rich philanthropist.). I am hoping it is a trap to draw out our adversary.
The event seems to be going off without a hitch, but (You new there was going to be one.) several armed men equipped with Super-Tech gear crash the party and a lone armoured figure demands the computer.
You might say we had a bit of a barney.
4 Thugs went after Ifrit, the Armoured figure went for Headache, and 4 went after me.
I held up the computer in front of me like a shield. The Thugs spread out and one entangled me. Unfortunately for them I have my own back up and used their indecision to break free of the entangle.
The 6 of me did a pulled a shell game and hid the computer behind us. The Thugs panicked, fired, and did little damage or missed.
Then 4 of us leaped at them, grabbed them, and swung them together like human shaped swords. OUCHIE!
Ifrit and Headache seemed in trouble, but Ifrit recovered quickly. Headache used the Armoured figures soliloquy to convince one of Ifrit's Thugs to think the other had turned traitor and fired at two of them. Knocking them out.
Then the remaining Thug tried to take out the Mind Controlled traitor and they blasted each other. LOL...
The Armoured villain attacked Headache and left him reeling. Ifrit waded in a hammered him to little effect.
The 2 of us standing ready used some Teamwork and preformed a running Fast Ball Special - Move Through on the Armoured villain and dropped him.
We checked the Thugs to make sure they were neutralized and then their Armoured Leader. Who had regained conciousness. He taunted us and it was followed by several large explosions outside.
I rammed him into a concrete pillar to make sure he stayed down and we looked outside. Only to witness the destructive aftermath of several explosions throughout the city.
What now?

Thanks for the recap, QM; I really have to get into the habit of typing this stuff up within a day or two of the session's end. But yeah, Bulldozer's making Dex rolls to chew solid food for now. No plans for an imminent return.
The UNTIL meeting went a bit off track for me; I hadn't anticipated such paranoia from everyone, but I suppose that's normal given the circumstances. The Seattle trip was a bit of an improv. Big kudos to handling the Tiger Squad liason. Excellent roleplaying.
And, of course, the firefight at the end. Much carnage was had. And the stage was set for further madness next time.
By the by, if Evil Steve is listening, did you have any ideas on the base you wanted, or did you want it left entirely in my not quite sane hands?

Nemesis's Personal Log
Date: 2008-01-07

SSN: Bulletin:
Master Control took control of all communications through out the Vancouver Metroplex today and demanded the government pay a ransom into a secured account.
Two 737 Air Craft crash landed in Richmond outside YVR - Vancouver International Airport. The Ifrit and Nemesis arrived to aid rescue workers.
Later they arrived to assist the RCMP in capturing Jackhammer, Chainsaw, and several High-Tech Mercenaries at the Telus Boot. They appeared to be in the employ of Master Control and planned on placing a bomb inside the facility. Fortunately the Superheroes managed to capture them before it detonated and transported the bomb to a safe location on Burrard Inlet.
The Heroes used clues taken from the Mercs and located the hideout of Master Control and his bodyguard Armidillo. After a fast and furious superbattle they captured the villains and deactivated the communications jamming device.
Investigation (Part 5):
I(We) stand looking out the window at the after effects of an explosion somewhere in Richmond. after failed attempts to acquire an air lift. The Ifrit and Nemesis race on his motorcycle through the gridlocked traffic jam to the scene of the explosion to find a 737 Jumbo Jet landed belly down in a field outside the air port.
Then my cell phone goes off. A voice identifying itself as Master Control states that he now controls all communications and unless the government pays him a ransom he would continue to block all transmissions other than his own. He leaves an account number for the funds to transfered into and ends transmission.
We arrive at the second location to find another 737 Jumbo Jet, crashed in the parking lot near the airport. It is spread across the whole area and fire fighters battle the flames. The Ifrit and Nemesis rescue the Pilots and learn that it was empty except for a skeleton crew.
I begin coordinating communications for the emergency services on scene and head for the nearest Ham Radio Operator in the area. We arrive at the location and the door opens and we find ourselves met to find a 20yrs old young man, quite stunned by our arrival, and fearful that Ifrit had come for his soul.
After some reassurance we got him to contact UNTIL Headquarters in Seattle and requested aide. They informed us that UNTIL was aware of what was happening and that UNTIL and PRIMUS were on their way.
Both The Ifrit and Nemesis looked at each other askance at the thought of PRIMUS on Canadian soil. Nemesis reminded UNTIL to seek authorization from the Canadian government for PRIMUS.
Another Operator broke in a yelled for help, saying they were under attack at the Telus Boot and then it was cut off. The Ifrit and Nemesis notified them that they were en route and raced to the location.
They arrived to find two battle armored figures. One with a chainsaw and the other with a pair of Jackhammers. They were also three men with High-Tech weapons holding off the RCMP. They all seemed to be guarding a metallic cylinder with electronic lights on it.
The Ifrit and Nemesis both leaped into action. The Ifrit flourished his giant sword at Chainsaw while Nemesis ganged up on Jackhammer. Upon seeing what happened to Jackhammer, Chainsaw went Berserk and attacked one of the Nemesis's to no effect.
In the end they were both subdued. The three High-Tech Mercenaries surrendered. The Metal cylinder is a bomb and their mission was to take out the Telus Communications Network.
When Nemesis attempted to interrogate one Merc he began answering questions and then suffered brain burn. If appears that Master Control is a Mentalist as well. While The Ifrit flew the bomb out to the Burrard Inlet. Nemesis contacted UNTIL and requested a PSI Counter Measures. They apparently encountered a blocking force at the border and were delayed.
About this time one of the RCMP Officers noted that the Mercs cell phone seemed to be working. Being wary, Nemesis checked the battery before answering. The voice on the other end belonged to Master Control.
Master Control demands: "Agent, why haven't you reported?"
Nemesis replies in a mechanical voice: "You have reached the Minions Cell phone, he is unconcious right now, but if you leave a message at the sound of the beep we will make sure he gets the message... Beep"
Master Control snarls: "Who is this?"
Nemesis replies: "Nemesis is the name and foiling villains is the game. Would you like to play?"
Master Control snarls: "You will pay for this!"
Nemesis replies: "Did you really think we would leave these people unprotected?"
Master Control end the call. Nemesis hands over the cell phone to an RCMP Officer and request he try to get something from it. The Officer smirks and removes the cover from the modified cell phone. He calls up the last number.
RCMP Officer: "I think I know this number. wait a minute"
Nemesis looks on impressed
RCMP Officer: "Right, we know where he called from. We responded to BC Hydro tips about a suspected grow op, but found nothing."
Nemesis look amused: ""Right! Where is it"
The RCMP Officers turn to smirk: "Five blocks that a way" and he gives us the address. I get one of them to go retrieve The Ifrit and wait for UNTIL to arrive with the PSI Counter Measures gadgets. Head bands will Shield us from Mental Powers. Then we use stealth and move in.
Its an empty Industrial/Office Building. The windows are boarded up and it looks like no one is home. The Ifirit smiles and draws his giant sword. "Let me open the door." He slashes at the door and it splits in two and collapses inwards. Inside we find an empty building, but Nemesis's observational skill locate a red light shinning through the floor.
Nemesis duplicates and (they) smiles at The Ifrit. "My turn" Six Bricks leap up and smash the floor beneath them. They drop down into an office corridor. To find the supervillain Armadillo blocking their path.
Armadillo stands menacingly: "You shall not pass!"
Nemesis smiles in agreement: "Your right, but he will." And The Ifrit drops down and advances on Armadillo, sword raised, and crackling with fire.
Nemesis waits for an opening and them two of him coordinate and preform a Fast-Ball Special on a third. Smashing Armadillo backwards, through the reinforced door and into Master Controls Lair.
The Ifrit and Nemesis file inside.
Master Control stands: "You have made a grave error coming here."
Nemesis quips: "Heh look, its a Mechanon wannabe!"
The Ifrit winces and the battle begins.
Master Control's Force Wall collapses as when Nemesis 1 attacks him. Nemesis 2, 3, and 4 miss, but Nemesis 5 and 6 connect and drive the surprised Master Villain backwards. The Ifrit follows up with an attack of his own, but it is deflected by Master Control's armor.
Nemesis uses Teamwork and Coordinated Attacks to strike Master Control down. He feels Master Control's attempts to turn his Duplicates against each other, but UNTIL's Gadgets work and we resist. Meanwhile The Ifrit manages to drive the villain back into the wall.
In the end it takes the combined assault of all of them to bring Master Control down.
After checking to make sure Master Control and Armadillo stay down. Nemesis 6 leaves to get UNTIL and the RCMP in to clean up.
Nemesis shares a brief sense of relief that this was not another Technomagical incident. He also look longingly at the UNTIL Hover Vans. This days events really brought home the need for a Transport of some kind. Preferably a Jump-Jet like one the Champion have.
Nemesis again reasserts his desire to join the UNTIL Superhero Liaison Program. Their resources and expertise proved incredibly useful this time around.

Masterful summary as always :)
Had to improv a bit, our team psychic wasn't able to make it, hence the UNTIL mind shields to keep everyone from being Master Control's psychic puppets.
But oh, if I had pulled off that AoE mind control on Nemesis:D Or pulled an AoE Entagle, then just mind controlled one.
"Who's the original?"
"Him."
"Thank you." (Zark!)
Of course, the big bad didn't have an AoE Entangle, so it's all moot. But anyway...

Fun little session this past monday; Headache was unable to attend, leaving Neemsis and Ifrit to defend the entire city of Vancouver all by their lonesome. And it all started with a breakin at the Scientology building on Hastings by a mystically empowered thug.
And a member of the Motor City Defenders trying to track down a missing Cantrip. So, hearing that Nemesis' secret ID was a private eye, Kid Samson showed up with a story more full of holes than...well, I'll let the reader think up their own comparison:)
Tried my hand at running an investigation, as well as engaging some of Ifrit's DNPCs. Turns out that Ifrit's uncle is 'sweet', according to said Ifirit's girlfriend. Also had Nemesis and Kid Samson going all over Vancouver trying to find Cantrip.
And they did. Carrying the staff and mask of one recently deceased Zorran the Artificer.
I will pause to let you, the reader, picture a 8(?) foot fire demon taking on a schoolgirl. Suffice to say, schoolgirl (Minionized for our protection, naturally) managed to hold everyone off until Nemesis was able to pry the mask off.
Partially. It was still drawn to her like a magnet. And then I dropped Gyre and a technomagically enhanced ride on them.
Hey, she was -waiting- for those items.
Apologies for the overly brief and probaqbly slightly inaccurate recall of the story so far; still can't switch between running a game and keeping notes quickly enough (And I am a slow writer, usually) But I think that hit all the high points. ANyone else?

Thomas Wells (aka Nemesis), Private Investigations Office, Main Street (& Keefer Street), Vancouver, B.C.
Cantrip seen wandering down, Oak Street (& 43rd Avenue), Vancouver, B.C.
SSN: Bulletin:
The Ifrit and Nemesis captured Master Control and Armadillo. Foiling the Master Minds Plot and restoring communications through out the Vancouver Metro area.
The Ifirt and Nemesis stopped the robbery of the Church Of Scientology today and uncovered several Egyptian Artifacts being kept there.
The Ifirt, Nemesis, and Kid Samson are battling an unknown teenage girl and transforming car in West Vancouver.
Investigation (Part 6):
Following the successful capture of Master Control we aided emergency services through out the Vancouver Metro area. The collapse of all radio, cellular, and digital networks disrupted the entire city and caused hundreds of small accidents. After words we went home.
The next morning I went to the office and checked up on the few cases I was working on. Around 2 o'clock their was a know at my outer door. I looked up and saw a large male silhouette through the frosted glass of the door. I closed my files and called out for him to enter.
"Come on in the door is open!"
In walked a young black man with an impressive build.
"Uhm... Hi" he said in a shy voice. I knocked a few years off him.
"What can I do for you, Sir?" Leaving it open for him.
With a little more confidence than I expected "My name is Elijah Bradley and I am looking for a friend. She disappeared a couple of weeks ago and her family believes she may have come to Vancouver."
I nod, "And how old is she Mister Bradley" I watched him squirm at that and smiled slightly.
He looks at me perplexed "She's 15 Sir. Her name is Cindy Smithers and we are all worried about her."
"Do you have a picture?" I ask.
He nods a gives me a few photos. I young pretty caucasian girl in a school outfit looks out at from the photo. "I look up at the kid. She your girl friend son?"
He looks uncomfortable and I nod again.
At which point I begin the interview process, gather his and her personal information and begin checking the Missing Persons databases from Detroit "Motor City," Michigan and Vancouver, B.C.
She is a Cellist, so I print out a list of local Pawn Shops, Music Stores, and Classical Music Groups. I check with my contacts at the RCMP, VPD, and the FBI. I also include young Elijah in my search.
Based on what he says and doesn't say I being to suspect he might be more than he lets on. I learn he is staying with friends and does not have transportation. So we make a quick trip to an Electrical Bicycle Shop and I rent a bike for him to get around on. Then we begin doing some "leg work". Once I am sure he has got the basics down we exchange phone numbers and split up.
When I finally get off my cellphone it rings and the RCMP Superintendent Niles request Nemesis's assistance. There is a superhuman battle outside the Church Of Scientology Offices downtown.
I tell Elijah to keep going and race to the scene. I arrive in time to see The Ifrit already engaged with another superhuman with a monstrous physique and covered in tattoos. I(We) leap into action. Four of us grab its limbs and the other Two of us coordinate our attacks, but it is The Ifrit who finishes him off.
When the villain falls unconcious he reverts to his normal form, wearing the shredded robes of a DEMON Agent. While The Ifrit and One of us attend to him, We spit up. Clearing traffic and investigating the Church Of Scientology Offices.
Inside We find a vault with the door ripped off. When we try to investigate one of the Scientologists tries to stop us, telling us we need a warrant. We smile and One of us moves him out of the way while the other investigates the safe.
Outside The Ifrit discovers that the villains used an amulet with a cats head on it as the source of his power. Inside the vault I find several safety deposit boxes ripped open and Egyptian artifacts scattered on the floor. I notify the VPD, the Vancouver Museum, and the Egyptian Embassy.
Meanwhile, outside the VPD Detective arrives and We report our findings to them. They secure the crime scene and confiscate everything as evidence. All over the cries of protest from the Scientologists.
The DEMON Agent is identified as a Medical Intern reported missing from Children's & Women's Hospital on Oak Street (& West 28th Ave), Vancouver, B.C. He does not have a history of association with the occult or DEMON.
After words I contact Elijah and make arrangements to continue coordinating our search. After a long days work we agree to start fresh in my office the next morning. When I arrive at my office I find messages for both Nemesis and Thomas Wells.
UNTIL notifies me that the young man I am working with is non other the Kid Samson of the Detroit "Motor City" Defenders. By a process of elimination that makes the missing Cindy Smithers, Cantrip . They're group slowly fell apart after the incident involving the death of Zorran the Artificer... The Technomancer?
The world never ceases to amaze me. The Master Mind we have trying to track down is a technomancer and now we have a missing Superheroine. Coincidence? I do not think so, but how are they linked. They are only two known Technomancers in the UNTIL Supers Database. Zorran the Artificer (Deceased) and Grye. Could she be behind it.
Hmmm... Something to sleep on.
The next morning I grab breakfast for two and invite The Ifrit over for lunch. I arrive at the office to find Elijah Bradley (aka Kid Samson) waiting for me. I smile mysteriously and we step inside, have breakfast and then its time for the truth.
"Well Mr. Bradley, you'll be please to learn that your case and another one of my have over lapped. This means that you do not have to pay me. It also means that we should clear the air. I have spoken to Cindy Smiths parents and the F.B.I. so I know what is going on. What I want to know is there anything else you want to tell me?"
Looking very uncomfortable, Mr. Bradley lays his cards on the table. "I am Kid Samson and Cindy is Cantrip."
"Good, I like working on the side of the angels" and we shake hands. His grip is tentative at first, but when I test him he matches me strength for strength. I smile back "We all have secrets kid, you keep mine and I will keep yours deal?"
Kid Samson smiles oddly back "Deal Mr. Wells" He then tells me she left her Hat behind, which grants her Mystical Powers.
The VPD and City of Vancouver's Civil Engineering department grant US access to the Traffic and CCTV Tapes from the Church Of Scientology's crime scene. After hours of searching we see a beat up Tan colored Ford Sedan pull up and the suspected DEMON Agent shoved out of the car looking dazed and confused before transforming into the monstrous tattooed brick and then attacking the offices.
Around lunch time The Ifrit arrives and I introduce Kid Samson and bring him up to speed on the connection between our case and his missing persons case.
I receive a download from UNTIL. Apparently just before Cantrip was discovered missing someone broke into the Detroit Police Department's property room and stole the Mask and Staff of Zorran the Artificer. We may be dealing with Mental Domination or Possession. I inform both UNTIL and the RCMP.
Unfortunately we still do not know where to find Cantrip. So once again WE split up and run down our leads. At the hospital I learn a bit more about out Medical Intern when I receive a panicked call from Kid Samson.
He has just located Cantrip and she is wearing the Mask and carrying the Staff of Zorran the Artificer. She is walking down Oak Street and just passed 43rd Ave.
I call my Duplicates and we all race to the scene. Kid Samson tried to grab her and I arrived in time to see he thrown back violently. I ask them to wait more reinforcements and Kid Samson looks at me funny. He has not yet worked out who I am.
I point and shout "Look over there!" and when Kid Samson sees nothing and looks back I am wearing my Luchadore Mask.
When another Duplicates everyone leaps to the attack. The Ifrit lands on the Staff, but does not force it out of her hands and in fact finds himself perched on it. Kid Samson tried to grab her and is flung back again.
WE shake our heads and the Two of US go Grab her Mask and try to take it off. She attacks us Mentally, but we endure, she fires an explosive fire ball at her feet and we endure. The Ifirit laughs at the flames.
WE struggle some more and finally wrench the two halves of the Mask off. The Masks seem to pull at each other like magnets and Cantrip is drawn towards them. Kid Samson grabs Cantrip, The Ifrit tries again to take away the staff, and WE try running away from each other. Trying to separate them further.
Then one of the cars on the street transforms into a giant robot with Gyre riding in its head.
"I have waited too long for those to let you take them away!"

UNTIL Containment Unit takes Gyre, Kid Samson, Cantrip, and several DEMON Cultists into custody. Nemesis takes the UNTIL Lieutenant into custody and places him in the RCMP's hands for questioning.
UNTIL Defender Agent uncover a DEMON Hame in Stanley Park. The Ifirit and Headache arrive and deal with them. Nemesis arrives later and helps finish the Undead Cyber-Zombies. They also capture the DEMON Morbane and the rest of the Cultists.
Snakes, Deception, and DEMON Hame (Part 7):
Do you ever feel like your trapped inside a Comic Book. We barely get the chance to celebrate our victory when UNTIL shows up with a Containment Team lead by one of the most obnoxious, over bearing, marionettes it has ever been my misfortune to meet.
Lieutenant Carson, UNTIL Containment Unit Commander. Dressed in his officers uniform rather than his field uniform. He swaggers in a starts issuing orders. He takes custody of Gyre, the DEMON Cultists, and offers to transport Kid Samson and Cantrip back home. His clipped British accent and tone of voice that instantly puts me on edge.
When I demand to see his identification he bulks, blusters, and utters threats. When the UNTIL Defender Agents start to cover me they find themselves being covered by my Duplicates. He orders us to proceed to Queen Elizabeth Park, where another UNTIL Team has uncovered a secret DEMON Hame, and fighting is disparate.
I ask The Ifrit and Headache to go on ahead. When the pompous ass tries to leave I grab him and inform him that I am placing him in custody for violating Canadian sovereignty and treaty law. The rest of his team leave him behind and flies off. I drag him kicking and yelling to the RCMP HQ a few blocks away and place him in custody of my contact at RCMP HQ and ask he be held for 24hrs. As he marches Lt. Carson away we share an evil smile.
Meanwhile The Ifrit and Headache arrive at QE Park to find the UNTIL Defender Agents under heavy fire from DEMON Cultists and Undead Cyber-Zombies. They take down the Cultists first and then struggle to bring down the undead. When I finally arrive there are only 3 Cyber Zombies left. After a pair of Fast Ball Special, Pushed, Move Through s they are no more. Headache turns over his Cyber Zombie to the UNTIL Agents and we investigate the DEMON Hame.
Its an old WWII Command Shelter, we find the grizzly remains and partially built forms of Cyber Zombies and their victims. It looks like Gyre and the DEMON Morbane had a difference of opinion and the result is the reveling of the secret base, the destruction of their projects, and lots of unconcious Cultists.
We search the place and quickly take care of the few Cultists left conscious. Eventually rescue several victims, a DEMON Cultist in training, and the Morbane himself. After a short fight the base is secured and we return top side. Something is interfering with the UNTIL's Communications Units. The one thing we do learn is that Lt. Carson and his team were found back in Seattle. They had been dead for 3 days. I contact my contact at the RCMP and tell him to put extra security on the fraudulent Lt. Carson.
When we arrive I request to interrogate him and to turn the power off on the surveillance videos. Headache watches the interrogation through the one way glass. While The Ifirt, my Duplicates, and I go into the interview/interrogation room. At first we do not let him know that we know who he is not... ;)
Then we inform him of what we know and what we need to know. He balks at first, but after some subtle persuasion from Headache and truely excellent interrogation skills we learn who he is. Where his friends took the Kid Samson, Cantrip, and Gyre.
He is a VIPER Agent, working out of a Secret Base, under Deadman's Island. Afterwards we send for help and then prepare our rescue planning.
The Good:
Awarded 3cp.

Definitely a fun session.
Biggest threat so far? Not Gyre. Not DEMON. Not VIPER (yet).
So far? A possessed Cantrip. (As observed by Evil Steve). Artifact domination is fun!
Up next, a raid on a VIPER base in Deadman's Island, as noted by QM. Just need to generate some decent maps, guards, deathtraps, and work out the followup.
Specifically, the return of Lady of the Lantern.:eg:

Shortly afterwards The Ripper went on a rampage in Downtown Vancouver and brought down an Office Tower. The Heroes responded, and Nemesis stunned onlookers and The Ripper himself. The Headache and The Ifrit tried to contribute as well.
Then the Lady of the Lantern arrived, waved her Lantern Staff and the The Ripper frozen in place.

A fun session all around, closing with the intro of FReDiverse (Championsverse?) Lady of the Lantern. Have a rough skeleton now, If I can get off my Call of Duty 4/LEGO Star Wars addicted butt, I'll put together a writeup.
BOECV Entangle. Good for what ails you. And it seemed to represent LotL's powers better than a 'One command only' Mind Control. Anyway...
VIPER (And by extension, your humble GM) is learning how to apply Co-Ordinated attacks to the heroes. Managed to Stun one of Nemesis' duplicates in one fight, and gave Headache (IIRC) a bit of a surprise. Those Redeye pistols can hurt when you do it right.
So, start the Tiger Squad storyline, and do the wrapup of the Cantrip arc (For now, anyway). Just need to build a few Chinese metas to throw at the Team.

SSN: Bulletin:
(Part 10):
The Lady of the Lantern stops the Ripper and then asks for our help. She is helping the Lucky Bandit and Summer Cloud find sanctuary from the People's Republic of China and the unsanctioned members of the Tiger Squad hunting them. She also explains that Summer Cloud was one of seven former Tiger Squad members hiding in Vancouver.
Winter Dragon, Granite Man, and the Venomous Shadow have been seen. She asks them to meet her in two days at a secure location.
Meanwhile, Headache, the Ifrit and five Nemesis's aid rescue workers searching through the rubble of the demolited office tower to in search of survivors.
Nemesis contacts UNTIL and the RCMP and requests a clean up crew to secure the Ripper and confirmation of UNTIL's Agents when they arrive on site. The Lady of the Lantern departs and the tired superheroes return to their mundane lives.
The next day Nemesis divides up chores for his duplicates. He (Nemesis or N1) takes his girl friend out for a day. N2 follows up on his cases, N3 files reports for the Police and UNTIL, N4 reponded to a request for information from UNTIL's UNITY members Dr. Black and Dr. White reguarding Cantrip's unusual problems, N5 looks for likely locations for a Base/Team Vehicle, and N6 works with the RCMP and UNTIL seeking Superhero Liason Program Membership and Santioning.
The Ifrit is called to work, a paramedic and forensic assistant, to a crime scene in East Vancouver. When he arrives he finds a male chinese murder victum. He called me and I got him to send me a picture of the crowd.
Meanwhile Headache was recovering from a hangover when a M.I.B. marched into his office and identified himslef as a PRIMUS Agent. He gave him a card and started asking embaressing questions. Headache dealt with him and admonished his assistant for letting him in at all.
The next day the heroes met The Lady of the Lantern at a safe house to meet with Lucky Bandit. She also Identified the deceased male chinese murder victum as ???, a former Tiger Squad member. He was a Precog and was likely killed by the Venomous Shadow. This leaves 7 former Tiger Squad members seeking santuary in Canada. It turns out that the Lucky Bandit is not asian at all, but a former Silver Avenger and pariah Robert Kaufman (aka: The Copper Avenger or the Red Shield). Headache hands Nemesis the PRIMUS Agents card and he offers it to the former Silver Avenger to identify. Unfortunatly they have no connection.
The US and Chinese governments have known who he was for years. He is part of a Democratic movement in the People's Republic of China. He is here to help the former Tiger Squad members find sanctuary. He plans on returning to China and continuing the good fight.
The Ifrit reports three GMC black suburban SUVs headed our way. Nemesis multiplies and crashes through the outside walls and doors. Surprising the armoured PRIMUS Agents and using the SUVs to Sweep them off their feet an take them down before they realize they are in a fight.
While N1 interrogates the PRIMUS Agents, N2 through N5 destroy all their equipment and vehicles. N6 calls the RCMP SLP and UNTIL to inform them of the incident and calls a Towing for 3 flatbed trucks to pick up the pieces.
The interrogation reveals that PRIMUS Agents have been ordered to capture or kill Robert Kaufman. They use derogatory comments that makes us concider they might actually be Project Genocide in disguise.
We agree to meet later at Starbucks on sub level four, Pacific Center. We meet their a discuss what to do next. The Lady of the Lantern goes with Headache. He arranges for fashionable cloths and together they head to the meet. The Ifrit looks after the Lucky Bandit, and Nemesis preforms counter surveillence.
At the meeting they discuss their options. Nemesis pushes for a propaganda blitz using television, the internet, and radio. Spreading the truth about illegal covert operations by PRIMUS and the Tiger Squad in Canada and the murder of ???, one of the eight rebellious former Tiger Squad members.
Headache offers the use of his property in Whistler, BC for a safe house. Nemesis leads everyone through the maze of maintenance and service tunnels from Pacific Center to Water Street and they split up.
Nemesis split up and hit every internet cafe in the city posting his interview and the truth on every video website around. Then he sent copies to the RCMP, UNTIL, CTV, BBC, Al Jazeria, and the media world. Despite PRIMUS declaring a Terrorist action in Vancouver and shutting down various Websites, the local Media, and using Jammers to prevent the video from getting out. It got out.
Nemesis, later discovers he is being followed and leads the black suburban SUVs on a merry chase through the streets of Vancovuer before setting up an ambush of his own. They use an alley and several dumpsters to disable the PRIMUS Agents vehicles and beat the heck out of the Agents. When a voice from one of the SUVs radios demanded an update he tramsmited a replay.
"Welcome to Canada where violations of sovreignty have dangerous consequences". Then he ripped the batteries out and started interrogating the prisoners. It turns out they bugged his bike. He again destroys the PRIMUS Agents Armour, Weapons, and Gear. Leaving them secured to lamp posts with their own handcuffs in their skivies.
PRIMUS was having a very bad and very expensive day. ;)
The Ifrit and Lucky Bandit pick up Summer Cloud two blocks from the Chinese consulate. The Ifrit comment how she's got big brass ones.
The Good:
Awarded 3cp
The Bad:
The villains are racking up a body count and the heroes are feeling the stress.
The Ugly:

Rogue PRIMUS Operations & Covert Tiger Squad Operations (Part 11):
Where to begin, so much has happened in such a short time. I was just getting back on my Motorcycle when I heard an electronic beeping noise coming from one of the PRIMUS Agents jackets. Frowning I walked over and found a PDA, the alarm was a reminder of an appointment at the CBC Studio One right now. I can already hear the sirens echoing through the concrete valleys of the city. I crush the and look at the humiliated PRIMUS Agents I left hand cuffed to an electrical pole in their underwear. Then jump on my bike and race to the location.
My calls to Headache and Ifrit go unanswered.
I arrive at the scene to see a Minute Man Mark VII Robot that has seen better days having climbed the side of the CBC Studio One building, reaching in a digging around. I asked one of the Police Officers for the 411. Then I asked for permission to intervene, which was granted. I duplicated and coordinated three running fast ball specials at the Robot. The 3 of us grabbed it and then broke its grip in the building and threw it down. Meanwhile down below 3 of us had grabbed heavy sign posts and Coordinated + Pushed + Moved By the falling Minute Man. It shattered into scrap metal and component parts.
Meanwhile the Golden Avenger arrived, We greeted him with respect and a little awe. He explained that the PRIMUS Agents operating here are part of a Rogue element lead by a Silver Avenger named Marcus Cole. They have strong ties to the Anti-Mutant Groups and Project Genocide.
A short time later Headache and the Ifrit arrive with Summer Cloud and Lucky Bandit. They had been attacked by Tiger Squad members Granite Man, Venomous Shadow, and Winter Dragon. One of my Duplicates takes off to collect Granite Man. I talk to Summer Cloud and explain how we can use the Media to save the lives of her and the 7 other defecting members of the Tiger Squad. After some consideration she agrees.
When my Duplicate comes back with Granite Man and the others we gather the media for an impromptu announcement.
"Ladies and Gentlemen of the Press, I believe it is time you know the truth about what has been going on in your country the last few days." I show them the captured Tiger Squad who on the orders of the PRC Political Bureau were ordered to her to capture or kill the Summer Cloud and the 7 other defecting members of the Tiger Squad. I give them evidence we have gathered and what we suspect. Finally I address the Federal Government and the International Community to offer them protection and sanctuary in Canada. (Media Manipulation Roll of "4" and Presence Attack of "33".)
After words I turn over the spot light to the very photogenic Summer Cloud.
The Golden Avenger approaches me and thanks me for not including Rogue PRIMUS Agents during the press conference.
"I appreciate that Sir, but I think it would be best if you told them yourself before your Public Relations, Bureaucrats and Politicians start their own spin doctoring."
Then my phone rings, Marcus Cole, the Rogue Silver Avenger starts to threaten and monologue at me. I hang up, he calls back and I do it again. The Golden Avenger looks at me non pulsed.
I smile and say "Better make him angry and making mistakes than listening to his threats and lies... besides its fun!"
The Golden Avenger's cell beeps and he answers it. It's Marcus... He smiles and hangs up. You can almost here Marcus's inarticulate cry of frustration.
A VPD Officer approaches and informs me that the YVR reports that the Rogue PRIMUS Agents have hijacked a 747 and are headed this way. I tell the VPD to clear the Stanley Parks the Causeway planning to use the site to limit any collateral damage and take off. As I race for the causeway I can hear the 747 coming, he is tracking me. Seconds before they crash land the jumbo jet I pull the battery from my cell, find cover, and Duplicate.
The crash is devastating, but the collateral damage was limited to the park. Headache, the Ifrit, Summer Cloud, the Golden Avenger, and Lucky Bandit arrive as the Rogue PRIMUS Agents lead by their Silver Avenger pour out of the airplane to attack. I look at the Golden Avenger, raise an eye brow, point at the Silver Avenger... "I take it you want that one?" He smiles I say three words. "Fast Ball Special"
Two Duplicates throw the Golden Avenger at the renegade and everybody else take on the Agents. The battle was very one sided.
After words, the Police take the bad guys into custody and we begin clean up operations.
The Golden Avenger wants to arrest Lucky Bandit, (aka the Red Shield, the Silver/Copper Avenger, Lyndon Kaufman) but I manage to convince not to. I even offer Lucky Bandit a position with the Vancouver Champions, but he declines. He is returning to the PRC to continue to support and fight for democracy.
So much has happened in the last week I am not sure I got it all down, but I will tell you one thing. I have not had this much fun in a long time. I also think its time We got serious about the Vancouver Champions. We need a Base, Vehicles, and Support. This is only the beginning.

Things are looking up. The Ifrit thinks he might have a Base for us and if we pool our resources we might be able to acquire some transportation. I still need to look over the state of the art Laptop given to us by Devon McCade the CEO of Blackgate Ind. He might be willing to provide some resources to.
With all our successes recently I think now would be a great time to approach UNTIL's and the RCMP's Superhero Liaison Programs.
We might even consider recruiting from the defecting Tiger Squad members.
Even PRIMUS (http://www.mactyre.net/scm/primus/) might owe us a Favour. The Golden Avenger DJ (Daniel James) Johnson turned out to be a decent guy. I liked him a lot. I hope he follows my advice about dealing with the media before the bureaucrats do.
Meanwhile the Private Investigation business is getting busy and I gotta catch up on a few of my cases.
My girl friend, Betina Wood is unhappy and I better spend some quality time with her.
If things do not work out it might be time to go public as a superhero.
Notes to GM:
Switching DNPC from specific individual to current girl friend
Changing HUNTED to someone else. (AsPow, 11-, Capture or Harshly Punish)
Finally changing my Secret ID to a Public ID.

Uploaded in hdc format for the tech-savvy among you. The writeups are kind of sketchy, but it should giove everyone an idea of WTH I was thinking
Lucky Bandit: Lyndon Kaufman, man of many identities, first appeared, IIRC, in Red Doom (I believe that was the title), and later reprinted in Classic Organizations.
The Lady of the Lantern appears in the RPG Silver Age Sentinels, by the (now sadly defunct) Guardians of Order. I know that this version might not synch up with the SAS/HERO conversion notes presented in Reality Storm. I decided to just do a full rebuild of her. Personally, I think the BOECV Entangle (Ooo...pretty lights) did a better job of representing her mesmerizing ability than Mind control (You will look at the pretty lights...).
Anyway, enjoy/criticize!

Nemesis's Personal Log - Addendum
As the old saying goes "The Job Isn't. Finished 'Til. The Paperwork is Done." Even with the help of my Duplicates I spend the next week writing reports for my Clients, the RCMP, and UNTIL.
On the seventh day We rested. I sent out my reports and then tried to make up to my girl friend. That did not go over so well. Like all my past relationships the job gets in the way. I cannot blame her, but I will miss her. All things considered I think it might be for the best.
I received a call from UNTIL's SLP Office Esteban Fitzpatrick. He let me know that UNTIL was interested in recruiting me into the Superhero Liaison Program and wanted to clear up some specifics like; Who do I work with?, Opinions and specific techniques on how you handle crime fighting/superhero work?, and would I travel outside of the Vancouver, BC area?
Part of it will be training (UNTIL/UNITY policies and procedures), some of it will be actual mission work. I actually look forward to working with the members of UNITY.
I also receive a call from my RCMP SLP Contact, Superintendent Maxine McLeod. She informs me that the RCMP is interested in recruiting me. They have some concerns about my associates and my interest in joining the UNTIL SLP and I calm their fears.
My base of operations will remain in Vancouver, BC, but I will go where needed. I assure them that The Ifrit and Headache can be trusted even though I have only knownthem a short time out experiences together have formed a strong bond between us.
I call my family and talk to them about revealing my identity to the world. They went public a long time ago and my decision should not affect them too much. I think I can use this to build trust with the public and turn it to our advantage. Only time will tell. I think I will talk to UNTIL and the RCMP about it.

But nooo, I had to have a mentalist and a duplicator ;-)was icecicle and snowblind fight with the champs or each other since they were in the same outfit?also wouldn't a luchadore count as a martial artist of sorts?
Pyre-Archer
Jun 5th, '08, 11:34 AM
Started off with both of them showing up to rob the same jewelry store (IIRC) in the same outfit.
-Then- the PCs got involved.
And there's a *world* of difference. Anyone can go take a class or five and style themselves a martial artist. Only the *truly* dedicated can aspire to become a luchadore!

Icicle and Snowblind were fighting each other before we arrived and overwhelmed them before they could join forces against us.
Nemesis wears a Luchadore style mask. Thus the reference to it. He is not a Martial Artist, but a brawler like Spiderman. Skilled, but with no formal training.

SSN Bulletin:
A pair of miniature tornadoes tore through the Granville Theater and pursued a young couple down Granville Street. The Ifrit and Nemesis arrived on scene and stopped the twin tornadoes from attacking the young couple.
The suspects vanished when defeated. A young woman was taken to VGH and was held over night for observation. Three vehicles were damaged in the superbattle. Nemesis cleaned up the scene and stayed to give witness to the VPD.
Superhuman Assistance Requested VPD, Bank Robbery, two teenage losers, granted Fire Powers by Arabian Night’s Vizier/Djinn/Sorcerer. The Ifrit arrested the suspects and after being interrogated by Nemesis were turned over to the UNTIL Superhuman Containment Team.
Welcome back to Vancouver (Part 13):
I think the last six weeks has been the most grueling course load I have ever undergone. The UNTIL SLP Instructors were hard, but fair. The retied Egyptian Superhero Caracal was even tougher than I thought. There were several voice messages on the answering machine. Mostly work related, but nothing important. I take off my boots, grab the carpet with my toes and think about what Die Hard’s John McLean would do next? Curiously I open up my computer and look through my Open Case Files…
Open Case Files:
Mister Fang, Mystic & VIPER Nest Leader’s Lieutenant
Current Status – In UNTIL Custody.
This has me worried. He kidnapped Cantrip using Agents disguised as UNTIL Defenders. His intent of using Cantrip to power a ritual spell that would allow him to track down every DEMON Agent in the Vancouver area. How did he get a hold of the Ripper from VIPER’s Dragon Branch?
Redstone, Martial Artist & Master Thief, VIPER Regional Commander
Current Status: Where a bouts unknown?
What is he up to?
Gyre, Mystic Technomancer
Current Status: At Large
Technomagical terrorism, but for what purpose?
DEMON Morbanes & Cultists
Current Status: In UNTIL Custody
Champions of Vancouver (Disappeared)
Current Status: Unknown.
What happened to Vancouver’s Champions? Rumors indicate that VIPER may be involved in their disappearance.
Master Control
Current Status: Stronghold
Master Plan seemed off. Where were the rest of his Agents? Why Vancouver?
Rogue PRIMUS Avenger & Agents in Vancouver
Current Status: Stronghold
Both the Silver Avenger and the Agents seemed to be spouting anti superhuman sentiments, but I think there might be something more behind it. Shadows of Project: Genocide.
Whew, lots of work to do. The Warehouse Headquarters is up and running and the Ifrit has a Safe House as a fall back. UNTIL and the RCMP both recommended that I keep my Secret Identity secret. So for now my life remains uncomplicated.
I was surprised to learn that my UNTIL SLP Liaison had already met. The UN Office Secretary I took to lunch is actually Lieutenant Vanessa Martinique, UNTIL Superhero Liaison Program, Liaison Officer, Vancouver. Who knew? We go out for diner to meet and celebrate.
Meanwhile, the Ifrit was at the theater with his girl friend when she gets possessed by a Djinn, claiming to be Prince Kazir of the City of Brass, of the line of Minmet. He called the Ifrit Nareem and commands him to protect him.
Before the Ifrit can respond the theater screen is torn asunder by twin miniature tornadoes. He grabs his girl friend and escapes, jumps into his car, and races away with the tornadoes in pursuit and his possessed girl friend ordering him to protect him. He calls Nemesis for backup and asks his location.
The Ifrit throws his car into a boot-legger reverse, but spins out of control and crashes. Nemesis arrives on scene to see the Ifrit holding off the twin miniature tornadoes and standing between them and a woman shouting in an unknown language behind him.
Their opponents seem partially immune to mundane attacks and they switch to elemental attack, employing fire hydrants, trees, and swatting them with cars. The battle is over swiftly and Nemesis remains behind to clean up.
I contact the Lt. Martinique about the incident and request assistance from UNTIL for Mystical Assistance and Containment of a possessed innocent. She directs us to an old Christian preschool in North Vancouver. Once home to the Order, a group associated with the Catholic Church. Its grounds are warded against Magic. The Lieutenant meets us there and lets us in.
Once there we interrogate the Prince Kazir who has possessed the Ifrit’s girlfriend. The Prince recognizes that the Ifrit is not his bodyguard, but the Nareem’s brother, a Djinn Jeweler, an outcast called Jafar.
The Ifrit explains the origin of his power and fact that he is free of any obligation the Prince may be able to claim from him.
The Prince claims that his cousin Prince Nifree usurped his throne. His loyal Vizier Herak spirited him away and he arrived to find himself possessing the body of this young woman. He claims to be searching for Earth Archmage to help resolve the issue and help him reclaim his throne.
I contact UNTIL Unity members Dr. Black and Dr, White and request Mystical aid in dealing with the problem. Dr. Black tries to go all arcane and mysterious about it, but Dr. White bursts his bubble and informs us that the Archmage was killed over twenty years ago and the Council has yet to appoint a new one.
The Lieutenant return with a Ring of Solomon and the Ifrit uses it to exorcise Prince Kazir and place him in the ring. By rubbing the Ring we can summon his image and communicate with him.
My suggestion that the Ifrit wear the ring as a piercing being unfairly discounted, he decides to wear it instead. The Ifrit’s girl friend freaks out upon regaining consciousness and faints. We take her to the hospital where she recovers consciousness, but the Doctor’s keep her overnight for observation. Nemesis interviews the young woman with her boy friend and finds she has no memory of anything during her possession and upon awakening in the hospital.
The Ifrit goes to his parent’s home to demand answers, while Nemesis joins Lt. Vanessa Martinique for a nightcap.
<<<Insert the Ifrit’s dressing down of his mother and interrogation.>>>
Our investigation is interrupted by an emergency assistance call.
We head over to the location indicated by the young suspects. I politely inquired with the surrounding security guards about gaining access to their CCTV’s to search for the two young men and their benefactor.
Ifrit’s new ring pulled him towards something. He hears Prince Kazir’s voice. Who claims he can sense the presence of another Djinn. We follow the ring to another Djinn. This one is the Prince’s Vizier Herak. He detects the Prince’s presence and attempt to kill him, but unfortunately is unprepared for the Prince’s protectors, Nemesis and the Ifrit. The fight is short and sweet. When Vizier refuses to be bound he starts melting into sand and the ground underneath him open into a portal. Through it we can see the City of Brass.
The Prince begs our aid and we agree…
<<<Insert quote “Alice's Adventures in Wonderland”? >>>
The Good:
Experience Point Awarded – 2cp
The Bad:
The Ugly:
Turning the Ring of Solomon binding Prince Kazir as a Prince Albert. Not you have to rub the ring three times to release the Djinn from the ring. ;)

The City of Brass – Unknown
SSN Bulletin:
The City of Brass and Djinn Madness (Part 14):
Before the Heroes jump through the portal they make some quick calls. The Ifrit contacted him parents and notified them he was traveling to The City of Brass and requests extraction. Nemesis contacts UNTIL and notifies them of his actions and requests an extraction.
Suddenly WE find ourselves in a massive desert. The Ifrit, Ourselves, and the Prince Kazir who seems no longer bound to the ring. The Prince is happy to be free of the ring and begins monologuing about how he will crush the usurpers using his new servants. Both the Ifrit and Nemesis both take umbrage with being the Prince’s Servants… We are his allies only.
Nemesis begins instructing the young Prince of fine art of diplomacy and strategy. His lesson is interrupted by the sounds of battle. Cresting the next dune we see three Djinn fighting a losing battle against three Ifrits.
The enthusiastic and vengeful Prince charges into the fray against the Ifrits. Fortunately The Ifrit and Nemesis over take him and engage the Ifrits. (I am so confused.) Suddenly out numbered and out classed The Ifrit and Nemesis make short work the Ifrits and stop the Prince from killing them.
And so begins the young Prince’s second lesson for the day. Nemesis interrogates the prisoners, but gains little from these Ifrits. They are slow, unimaginative, and fanatically loyal to the new Sultan (fka; Prince/Duke Nareem). WE manage to convince the Prince to spare their lies and let them go, but not before sending them off with a little propaganda announcing the return of the City of Brass’s rightful rule, Prince Jafar.
The Djinn we rescued pledged their allegiance to the Prince and smuggled us into the city ahead of one of the usurper’s patrols.
Inside the City of Brass we find different things. For the Ifrit everything seems strangely familiar and yet new. For Nemesis it becomes a task to blend into the crowd and avoid being labeled an outsider and therefore to be killed on sight.
The Djinn take us to a safehouse where The Ifrit and Nemesis quickly find themselves dictating tactics and strategy. The faster we move the better our chances of catching Sultan Nakeem of guard.
<<<Rough draft past this point>>>
We interview the Prince’s allies and learn more about the Usurper, is outsider allies, strange happenings in the palace.
DEMON vs. VIPER
Walked into the trap with our eyes open. Ready to ambush the ambushers.
The Usurper, Prince/Duke Nareem appears physically bound to a human. Creating a Hybrid Djinn/Man. Curb stomped. Note Crown disappeared and Prince returned to normal.
DEMON Morbane mind controlled Nemesis Prime.
Firewing impaled on an obsidian/crystal spike. Depowered or Drained?
Nemesis pulled the spike impaling him and freed his enemy. Far from gracious, Firewing was as week as tiger kit. He deeply resented owing his freedom to another, let alone an enemy. When he recovered enough strength he pushed away Nemesis’s helping hands and opened a rent in the air and flew through it. The rent closed behind him.
Given what I know of Firewing, I have not seen the last of him… Sighs.
Dramatic restoration of Prince Kazir to the throne of the City of Brass. Followed by a coronation and one heck of a wild celebration. Again we turn down the Prince’s offers of position and wealth. Our only desire was to return home.
Nemesis offered to set up diplomatic relations between UNTIL and the new Sultan of the City of Brass. He agreed to receive the UN Ambassador warmly.
The Ifrit requested permission from the Prince to look at his/Ifrit’s old shop. The new owners had stored his possessions in the back. They had never found the hidden panel where he kept some of his works. One piece he selected for his girl friend.
Returned home with prisoners. 8 VIPER Agents, 1 DEMON Morbane, and an exiled Prince Nareem.
The DEMON Morbane was using a book as his laptop stopped working upon his arrival in the City of Brass. The book contained his mission objectives and notes on a VIPER Base in Maple Ridge across from Haney Place Mall.
The Good:
Awarded Experience = 2cp
The Superheroes saved the day and thrashed some bad guys.
The Bad:
Nemesis Prime got mind controlled and recombined with one Duplicate before the Mind Controller had his brains scrambled by four Nemesis Duplicates.
The Ugly:
Getting ambushed by the ambushers. Got pretty unpleasant. Prince Nareem’s black crystal crown burned The Ifrit and the Djinn Prince. It vanished and the Usurper returned to normal.
Cheers

Just a brief overview:
Introduced a new player, a parapsychologist speedster calling himself Mercury, so the gaming part of the session was a bit shorter, owing to the need to make him a character.
Started out with a recap of the last session, followed by a hasty meeting with Nemesis' UNTIL liason. She informed the Nemesis and Ifrit that there were reports of a VIEPR nest in downtown Maple Ridge, but they didn't have the manpower for a full-on assault. Did agree to help keep any stragglers from getting out of the area, plus put them in touch with a possible new recruit.
Cut to Mercury investigating a cleared out DEMON-hame. Turned out that a vagrant had come across an enchanted DEMON-mace and was making a bit of a nuisance of himself. PLus he was talking to said mace, thinking it a gift from the (insert appropriate deific power here). The melee part fo the encounter consisted of Mercury telling him that he was an agent of the power that made the mace, he was here to test him (nice bit of RPing there), followed by a Grab/Disarm, then a PRE attack, tellign said vagrant that he wasn't worthy of the weapon.
UNTIL agents show up, take Mercury to meet Nemesis & Ifrit, anf the trio go off to trash a VIPER nest!
It went well until three agents scored a co-ordinated attack on Ifrit with some blaster rifles...
More later!

Hmm, I keep forgetting abuot this thread. Bad of me.
Well, what started two sessions ago with new hero The Fool and Nemesis taking down a fleeing VIPER munitions shipment (And Nemesis snagging himself a rather snazzy VIPER jetbike), has come down to:
a complete lack of action in Vancouver
reports of a lawyer Mercury had under surveillance heading off to the Okanagan
And he has links to the DEMON agents captured previously
Details have faded from my mind (anyone from the past two sessions recall anything?), but I can clearly recall the team following a beat up RV to a secluded spot near a man made lake, two other RVs which hooked up to become, in essence, a mobile DEMON-hame...
And Devil Dog and Jack Fool.
Next session should be interesting to see :eg:

The Fool (courtesy of Wikipedia)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fool_(Tarot_card (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fool_%28Tarot_card))
Specifically (quoted from the Wikipedia entry):
The Fool is the spirit in search of experience. He represents the mystical cleverness bereft of reason within us, the childlike ability to tune into the inner workings of the world. The sun shining behind him represents the divine nature of the Fool's wisdom and exuberance. On his back are all the possessions he might need. In his hand there is a flower, showing his appreciation of beauty. He is frequently accompanied by a dog, sometimes seen as his animal desires, sometimes as the call of the "real world", nipping at his heels and distracting him. He is seemingly unconcerned that he is standing on a precipice, apparently about to step off.

This latest session (October , 2008)
leadup: Unveiled copy of Champions 3rd edition. Picked it up for nostalgia reasons. Offered to change the rules for the campaign...No? Okay, on with the show.
A knockdown, drag out fight between the Champions of Vancouver and the team of Jack Fool and Devil Dog. Which ended with Jack Fool managing to GMO Mercury, before the two undead servitors were put down.
The Morbane that called them forth? Oh, he got a face full of ridiculous string from The Fool.
That's when I sprung the magic-hunting VIPER bots on them, and got the Magic vs Technology arc off to a somewhat stuttering start (More on this later). Nemesis and The Fool managed had to do some fancy maneuvering , but eventually managed to elude their captors. This included sticking Jack and The Devil Dog to the Entangled (It was Sticky, y'see) Morbane, with Nemesis hoisting the compilation around like a Villain Sandwich! Plus, one bot was taken down (too many targets led to a CPU malfunction), revealling (after the bots withdrew) some incredibly advanced tech, even more so than Mechanon's own systems.
Further Analysis by an NPC sorceress (Erica? I forget her name) brought in by UNTIL (Amid newsclips of Solitare and Defender having a rather massive battle) revealed the presence of Qliphotic energies. The session ended with reports of zombies attacking on the outskirts of Surrey.
Looking back: Had a plan, but I really stumbled on the delivery. Need to pre-write my dialogue a bit better, and flesh out my campaign notes a lot more. Still, I think I've come ahead a bit in my GMing.
Still a ways to go, but you got to start somewhere ;)

Etienne comes from an old family in Southern France. Once Noble, the family lost its title long ago, but retained many of the traditions. Classical education, both scholastic and physical, are proudly taught to the sons and daughters of the D'Avernge line. Fostering is another. At the age of eight, and every four years after that, Etienne was relocated to another member of his suprisingly large family, each step moving farther from home and each stop expanding his education based on his natural talents. First Paris where he studied Mime and Ballet, then Switzerland, for stage magic. The Cote D'Ivoire he trained in Savate, and stage acting, including makeup and immitation. In Louisiana, he learned to sing, and master puppets, and finally, in Quebec, he became an acrobat. His wide range of performance arts caught the attention of talent scouts for an international avante garde circus. It was here that he was reunited with his brother, Gaston. Here he also met Barbara, a teacher who travelled with the troupe to help the younger perfomers finish their education. Love bloomed and they were married in the most visually disorienting ceremony that any man of the cloth could tolerate.
While on the road, the troupe stopped to perform in Vancouver. The city seemed to favour the brothers. Gaston and Etienne had been planning, practicing and pitching a performance for months, and on their first night in Vancouver, one of the other puppetmasters broke her wrist when she was caught in the leash of an excited dog and fell. The brothers prepared for their first performance of their work, Etienne putting the final touches on his new costume, Gaston ensuring that all the props were ready. A short fuse forced Gaston to dash out to a hardware store, where tragedy began.
An unknown supervillan, on his first crime spree caught Gaston with a Domination gun, rendering Gaston a mental slave. The villan's plan was to hold the audience of the Circus for ransom using a large bomb, which he commanded Gaston to take to the circus and conceal in the Bigtop tent.
Somewhere, something went horribly wrong. The police were alerted far earlier than the villan expected, and Etienne, dressed in his Fool costume tried to capture Gaston before he could do anything to further the Villan's plans. In a battle most bizzare, the villan fell into a power transformer and crisped beyond recogintion. Etienne, dressed in his Fool costume tried to capture Gaston before he could do anything to further the Villan's plans. However, the Domination gun, still connected to Gaston, drove him mad, and he broke off his battle with Etienne and quickly assended the trappeeze to the top of the tent where he had secured the bomb, Etienne to far to stop him until a wild haired man tossed him a wand, shouting "Its a climbing line, just point it up and press the button". But even with the device, it was too late. A police sharpshooter was forced to kill Gaston before he could trigger the bomb.
The death of his brother changed Etienne, giving him a seriousness and intensity he lacked before. He swore he would do everything in his power to prevent tragedies like this from ever happening again by taking the fight to the madmen and maniacs and criminals himself, while labouring to give the police options other than guns.
Barbara convinced Etienne to settle in Vancouver, hoping that he could come to terms with what happened using the city as a backdrop for his obsessions. He aggreed and they now live happily in the downtown. The initial shock of Gaston's death has softened, and Etienne smiles and laughs again. But Etienne still dreams of an abyss, and a small dog that chants "jump".

A lull of several weeks ended with a guest spot by the Goldarned Foxbat, committing the latest felony in his master plan.
To wit: March into a Save on and shout, to one and all...
"GIMME ALL YOUR CORNFLAKES!"
Yeah. Mercury, who was in the midst of a food run, nipped off to suit up, then approached Foxbat and tried to talk him down. Which ended with a Glue Ball and a rather nice Entangle Roll.
Enter Riot, who faced off with Foxbat (After getting an autograph. Come to think of it, Foxbat did manage to pull of a GLide-By signing on some fans. Shots were traded, but Foxbat was eventually taken down. And arrested. And promptly fell in love with the RCMP Officer (Samantha, IIRC) who was taking him away. The RCMP building was filled with roses the next day..
Acting on a threat of Foxbat bots that he had personally pimped out, not to mention the promise to make Mercury his sidekick (offering him the name of Mr. Zip in the process), Foxbat, Samantha, and Riot drove down to an abandoned building in the Downtown east Side, where lay two Iron Walkers. To the RCMP officer's chagrin, the two boys decided to have a singalong on the way there. Of the Irish Rovers' "Wasn't that a party."
Afterwards, there was a scuffle with ARGENT again, who were after the Walkers for some nefarious purpose. But oh, lord, the fun we had with Foxbat...
Apologies for any inconsistencies with what actually happened; this was Thursday night, and some of the details had faded.

Just a brief overview.
Iron Duke (From Silver Age Sentinels). Taken down after a long, long fight. Suffice to say, it establishes the Champs of Vancouver.
Fast forward a few weeks. PRIMUS is knee deep in scandal after that incident with the rogue group invading Vancouver, and Riot's 'Public Service Announcements' about the attackers. Not looking good for the new Golden Avenger
It's almost as if someone's feeding the media and the Senate some dirt. Hmm....
Anyway, We find the team up in the northeast part of BC, where a somewhat dimwitted group (don't start!) of Hunter Patriots has kidnapped the Lieutenant Governor of BC. Agent of British Royalty (they claim), give in or he gets it, usual drill.
The specifics escape my recall (QM?), but I seem to remember a long discussion of how to reach the house without the HPs offing the hostage, which ended with a kamikaze run with an UNTIL hovervan, Riot running namesake over some hapless guards out back, and the guys inside meeting a rather nasty end at BLack Harlequin's hands. Then trying to do the same to Le Fool. Close, but a win for the good guys.
Which brings us to a request for some guest lecturing from the headmistress of Ravenswood Academy; Riot's rare among duplicators, and he might be able to bring some of his experience to the new generation of heroes. Plus, there's a duplicator in one of the classes, who might benefit from some one on one experience. And non-powered heroes like The Fool are always welcome to instruct the more...rambunctious non-traditional students.
Changes of note:
-Gym/Phys Ed instructor: Maxwell Liberty aka The Sentinel from Silver Age Sentinels.
-Cantrip: Finally busted by Witchcraft. Now she's really Witchcraft's apprentice. Motor City Defenders have drifted apart. Barnstormer's trying out for sports in a different school, and Kid Samson is still fighting crime in Old Detroit.
More later (including Operation: After School Special, plus yet *another* SAS character making her appearance)

Excellent role playing here, and a perfectly devious plan executed by Riot and The Fool.
Assuming that the two bricks in question ever fully recover...at least, psychologically.

Heh, more on this bit next session. Rowan might have to take her operation public, after all...
The Ugly:

Actually, in my campaign, they kinda drifted apart. Cantrip's learning the ways of magic from Witchcraft, Barnstormer's trying out for a few sports teams (and praying his flight doesn't kick in at an inopportune moment), and Crone seems to have dropped off the map.
Kid Samson's doing some solo work, with some occasional *unofficial* assistance from the sneakier Ravenswood students. I tell ya, ever since that teleporter signed up for classes...;)
