Is there a way to buy the Hero System GM's screen by itself, seperately from the Hero System Resource Kit? If not, will it be possible sometime in the future?

The GM SCreen for the Resource Kit is not available by itself. There is currenlty no plan to reprint it.

Ah. Thanks for clearing that up.

To clarify what Ben said:

There is no reprint currently scheduled. We would certainly like to reprint it, but the entire product is so expensive to print that we have to print a lot of them, and right now the demand isn't there.

We're considering some other options, such as reprinting just the booklet and GM's Screen and leaving out the other pieces, or raising the price, etc. When we reach a decision and take some concrete steps, we'll let you know. ;)

As far as things go, I would definately buy the GM screen without the rest of it. Or the GM screen and the booklet. However you choose to reprint it, I'll buy it.

IMO the booklet is well worth having, for the condensed and summarised information it contains. The "minion control sheet" is rather neat too.

The comments I've heard about the Resource Kit, here on the boards, in reviews and among my acquaintances, have been pretty consistent in their ratings: the booklet gets top marks from almost everyone, followed by the GM's screen, then the maps, with the mini figures trailing far behind in almost everyone's estimation. I don't think anyone would cry if that last item was left off. ;) You could probably put them in the Online Store with the other downloadable templates.

I'd like to see the maps stay in the product, but I dare say if you just packaged the booklet and the screen for a few dollars less, they would sell quite well.

For what it's worth: I bought the Resource Kit at my FLGS and it's great. But I daresay I'll never use the maps or the cardboard figures. IMHO, a reprint of the GM screen need only include the rules booklet.

Or you could go the SJG route: reprint the screen only and make the booklet a free downloadable PDF, &aacute; l&agrave; <i>GURPS Lite</i>.

Cheers!
Ben

Wooh, good news! I'd gladly pay 10 or 15 dollars for those.

Would it be possible to have the pages available as a pdf, so people could download them for a small fee, print them out and use them in, say, a Master Screen, or laminate/stick them into plastic wallets, etc.?

I have no need for this; I bought the Resource Kit. I was just wondering if this might be a relatively painless way for DOJ to make the screen available. On the other hand, perhaps this would cause all sorts of unforeseen complications.

As to the booklet, having this as a pdf has already been suggested by BenKimball. I am not sure DOJ would make it free though, although that's a nice idea. Maybe in some years from now, when HERO as overtaken d20 as the number 1 gaming system (well, a guy can dream, can't he?).
