Hello everyone,
I just got in the mail today the BG RPG and it looks ok but a little on the weak side for resource material. Being a fan of Traveller and now TH, I was hoping to get some other information on some of the other vessels that were in the Colonial Millitary Fleet. There had to be more than just Battlestars in the Colonial Fleet.
Anyone seen it or have any thoughts?

Didn't even know they were making a BG game.
I should have guessed though....

For the record, my last Traveller campaign d20 was set in a Battlestar Galitica Universe, but my players were survivors of a different Rag Tag Fleet:
Scope: The Battlestar Oracle, a pro-type Battlestar that was designed and built the same time as the Mercury class BS. The Colonial Fleet desided to build the Mercury class Battlestars, and not the Oracle class. It was decided that the Oracle class was far to big, the crew was huge, the cost to build each one was far to much, and the maintaince was alot. Thus only one was built.
Now the Battlestar Oracle, was assigned to command the Battle group #98. It was assigned a heavy Cruiser, Cruiser, (2) Destroyers, (10) Escorts, (2) Armed Troop Transports, (2) Armed cargo transports, (1) Long Range Science explorer, (1) Refueler/Miner, and (1) Repair Barge.
So this BG was on a long range exploration duty in the direction away from the Cylon Red line boarder, and were returning to Colonial space when the attack took place. They had none of the Baltar Software upgrades so when they met up with Cylons, they were 110% effective.
Now they heard the call for the meetup point with the Galatica, but arrived just as the Battlestar Galatica and all the FTL capable ships jumped out and the few Cylon raiders jumped in. Their Vipers made short work of the Cylons and only a few ships were lost. Unlike Admirl Cain, he sheltered them and moved them off to a old Moth-Ball storage Fleet sight that had older ships moth-bald after the Cylon War. They were kept service ready and fully supplied for recall into active service. They were mostly Escorts, Armer Troop Transports, and Armed Cargo Transports, plus Viper IIs. So they stripped all the non-FTP ships and transferred all the civilians and rescued Fleet personel to as many of these other ships as they needed. They also stripped this sight for as much resources as they could carry away with them.
Thus after a while and some other rescues of other fleet vessels and more civilian FTL vessels they formed a RTF and jumped away into deep space looking for a new home. Just not Earth!

A friend of mine has been waiting for a while for this to come out, and is now just waiting till he has enough money to buy it.
So as far as content goes, is it really only Battlestars and fighter craft, or do they have any other vessels at all? Do they have different models of Battlestars, or is it just the Galactica?
Very curious to see more on this.

Different models of Battlestar, definitely. Remember, at the start of the series, Galactica was about to be decommissioned and converted into a museum, suggesting that she was somewhat older than the rest of the Fleet. I kind of lost major interest in the series early on (too grim for my liking), but understand that when they encounter the Pegasus, she proves to be larger than Galactica and of a more advanced design.

Well as to the Battlestar Galatica Corebook, it only lists the Battlestar Galatica, Colonial One, and 3-4 other civilian ships designs. Plus they go into the Cylon Base ship, Raiders, and that bigger troop transport. Oh they also go into Viper II's and Vii's too, plus make mention of some other Colonial ships and ground vehicles. What they do not touch on is other models of Battlestars, or if there even were other support vessels in the Colonial Fleet. Now they show NO solar system maps and one is left wondering the arrangement and relations of where all these twelve Colonies(worlds) are to each other. Maybe if I read it more indepth I might be able to peace it together, but within my own campaign I just mapped a (9) system cluster of stars where the (12) colonies are within.
I just think I should point out that I like and watch the show, but seriously it is to much a Soap Opera and not enough on the SciFi for my taste. Far to much whom is sleeping with whom, or doing what with whom and why for my taste...I want more fighting and exploration and etc. I like SGA and SG-1 alot better, but then I like B5, Space Above and Beyond, and Earth II. Now I hope for the sake of the RPG game Battlestar Galatica that they add more to the game than just the stuff our of the seasons of the show or it will be just a flash in the pan game.

Also for my own campaign BSG Universe, I stayed with the idea that the Cylons were a "Alien" race that had died out while fighting the humans and their machines live on to continue the fight as they were orderred to by the last remaining living Cylon. They are more like Terminators in my campaign, with the infillitrators being machines inside with grown flesh like stuff coving on the outside.

Oh yes, I'm completely aware of the different models in the show. The Galactica was indeed a much older model, being one of the original 12 Battlestars that had been made during the first war against the Cylons 40 years prior to the show when every colony had built a single Battlestar. I believe it was Caprica's Battlestar. Currently in the show, or at least at the first shots of the second war, there had been dozens of Battlestars made in various different models, with at least 3 or 4 actually being shown in the show.
My question was more as to whether they showed the different models of Battlestar in the rulebook, which Bygoneyrs kindly answered. Thanks for the answer anyways, Ian.
Pretty lame that they don't even have the Pegasus, seeing as how important she was in the show. I mean, they're making a movie about her! I guess that's what supplements are for though.
One more question, do they have floorplans for any of the ships, or is it just a picture and short description?

There is a diagram breakdown of areas within the Galatica, and yes there are floor plans for all the Colonial ships, except not for the Raptor but one could figure that out basically by rewatching a few of the eps.
I am hoping they will cover more details on different ships in other products for the game, if it makes it that far.

Or they intend to put that information in later supplements. Even the Star Wars main books (both WEG and WotC) don't have deckplans for the ships. They put them (at least WEG did) in later supplements to the game.

Yeah, I actually said that part about supplements in the quote you gave. And you're correct, none of the SW supplements have any that I know of, only the Star Wars Gamer magazine did, but they had a plethora. Damn I wish they still published that. Now I'm sad.:(

Well, you have to go back to WEG to find tons of deckplans, but most people don't even remember that they had the license for 10 years before Hasbro picked it up.

RIght, sorry, I meant none of the WotC have any, and unfortunately the guy that had all our WEG supplements moved to California. That is really fantastic stuff though.
