Is anyone here planning to go to this general sci-fi convention in Portland? Would anyone be interested in a get-together?

(OK, I also wonder if anyone can buy me a cheeseburger there, but that's another story....) :)

What is it with OR cons? why not have on vetrans day weekend? I have Vets day off...I work next weekend...I might swing by after shift...might not. Is OryCon mostly Sci-fi? Or is the gamming getting it's props?

When it comes to booking a hotel big enough for an Orycon (about 1700-1800 total attendees) you take what you can get. There aren't that many hotels in the area willing to host a convention at all -- especially since the Columbia River Red Lion, traditional home of Orycon for a decade and a half, was torn down.

Mostly sci-fi, BUT.... the legendary boardgame library accumulated for Game Storm will be there. There's certain to be a rousing game of Apples for Apples at some point. And I might run something impromptu if there's any interest.
