The software in question: http://www.profantasy.com/products/cc3.asp

I love fiddling with fantasy worlds and would love the ability to make some great-looking maps. I've seen some really cool ones here:

http://sub.profantasy.com/2007/gallery.html

that I'd love to be able to do. It seems like you can make some great-looking maps with this.

However, my concerns are the following: Is CC3 irritating to use? Does it use anti-aliasing when you're working in it to make things easier on the eyes? Are the styles easy to apply?

If anyone has a some experience using version 3, I'd love to hear your opinion of it.

Lots of experience, but I would recommend you follow the link in my sig and see what others are doing with it and other applications and also see that there is a forum available to give you the help you need.

Your sig only goes to your image.

Really???? When I hover my mouse over it it shows the Cartographer's Guild URL.

Well here is the URL just in case: http://www.cartographersguild.com/

I'm using Firefox also. I'm not following what you are saying, are you not seeing the image in my sig, but you see a link there? Where does the link take you? Also, are you sure this isn't a browser cache issue?

I see the image and get the link just fine. :) Thanks for the info! The forum looks quite interesting.

Indeed, it is very interesting, and the coolest thing is that it isn't just one software app, but all of them that the users use so we are starting to see mixtures of 3d modeling along with Photoshop as an example. The amount of tutorials that are being created, and we're talking professional quality tutorials is a great asset as well. I hope you join and become a member even if it is just to steal ideas and ask questions.

Cool. You should be getting a great big welcome from everyone as soon as you post into the member introductions forum.

Hm, I may have to join soon as well, I've had CC3 and a few of the add-ons for a while, but just haven't had the time/focus to actually learn how to make decent maps with it yet.

Thanks for the heads-up Miller.

You are definitely welcome. The more the merrier. Just be sure to tell us where you came from in the intros so that I know who my fellow Hero gamers and CC users are. :)

Ah - must be because I have avatar images blocked. My bad.

I'm still running CC2 as I don't see any major changes having taken place. Course, I only make sketch maps so I'm not even using CC2 to it's full potential.

There were actually some rather large changes made. New UI stuff, sheets have been revamped and now allow effects to be applied. New shadow effects. Ton of stuff. That said, if you are just using it to sketch stuff, it wouldn't be worth it to you to upgrade.
