Its been awhile since anyone has done one...so here we go, True Believers!

"While driving through the desert on a family trip, teenager Mike Morris was stung by a scorpion that had been irridated by an atomic test. The scorpion imbued Mike with the proportional strength, speed and invulnerability of a scorpion. Mike used his new found powers to fight crime as The Sting!"

So here are a few color schemes for my Silver Age roof runner. As always, suggestions are welcome. Thanks for voting!

None of them really do much for me. #3 looks too much like Spider-man. Other than that it was largely a toss up. I went with #2.

The motif doesnt look very "scorpion" to me. I voted for 4 not because it looked appropriate but because it looked the most eye-catching in a general sense.

The Spider-Man homage is pretty obvious, and I'm assuming, intentional. ;)

I have to agree with sbarron that none of these are really leaping out at me. although I think I prefer the solid color masks rather than the style with the widow's peak cowl.

Frankly, these outfits aren't really saying "scorpion" or "Sting" to me. Perhaps the colour palette is just too bright and loud. Or maybe the design lacks the edginess that I would associate with a scorpion: more points resembling stingers or pincers might be appropriate. And the chest symbol is too small to really have an impact.

Sorry I can't be more help. :(

I like four, but the scorpion insignia should be black. Might help if it was a bit larger as well, but my spidey fandom maybe biasing me :)

I like the costume design. To me, #2 looks most like a cross between a scorpion and a Super. Of course, adding a real tail would do wonders. (In the absence of a tail, the "peak" on the cowl is an important representational device.)

Cheers!

#1... I like the brown and yellow and I'm not even a Wolverine fan.

I voted for #1. I just kind of like the yellow/brown color theme. I like Wolverine's old yellow and brown costume too.

Think #3 looks the coolest, but it's a little too spidermaney for me. What program did you make this with?

I like #3 but I think it needs black, not blue.

I went with #1, but like others have said, if you want to be a Scorpion, you have to have a tail...

If we are talking desert, then option 1 is the one.

It reminds me of SpiderMan's togs.

While # 3 and #4 are the most Silver Age, 3 is way too Spider Man, and 4 will get him nicknamed "Yellowback."

Could I see a color reversal on #2?

I think I like #3 the best - the widow's peak on the cowl is a nice design element suggesting the stinger. However, the insignia set apart by the little oval on his chest doesn't do anything for me. Maybe you could incorporate the scorpion shape into the "highlighted" (in #1, it's yellow) portion of the costume? I'm thinking particularly of Spidey's black costume or Tarantula (http://www.marveldirectory.com/individuals/t/tarantula.htm). Something less realistic and more style-ized. A Google image search turned up these:

Also, you might want to try inverting the scorpion insignia - I think it gives it a more agressive aspect.

The scorpion motiff is stylized into the costume itself. The lines across his ribs represent "legs". The stipes coming to the angles down his legs are the "tail". The stripes down the arms and covering his thumb and forefinger are the "pincers".

Sorry got caught up in things and my own campaign.

Here's the final version. I enlarged the chest logo and removed the peak on the mask. Thanks for the imput.
