Just curious, but how come none of the Hero games have any glossy insert pages with full-color artwork?

It's a minor quibble I know, but it would increase the attractiveness of the games. Would it add that much to the cost of the game to pay for the added artwork and glossy pages? Is it solely an economic consideration or are there other reasons? I know there is the talent, since the covers of the Hero material is very nice.

Hero Games is known for being perhaps the "meatiest" of RPG's out there but pretty low on the flash content. If push came to shove, I'd keep the material the way it is...more brain and less beauty, but it'd be nice to have both worlds.

It is a cost factor. Trust me, even 4 pages of color added into a book would dramatically raise the price.

I hope they don't. The two old Hero products (The Zodiac Conspicary and Champions: New Millienium) which had some color pages both fell apart (or at least the color pages fell out) within 6 monthes of getting the product.

I think DOJ would be wise to avoid this.

Well, the BBB basically fell apart immediately upon purchase and it didn't have color...

Several reasons:

1. It costs too much.

2. Color inserts are much more likely to result in binding problems.

3. It costs too much.

4. It costs too much.

Believe me, we'd do it if we could. But we can't.

So did mine. It was the binding that didn't make it. :D

I just bit the bullet and scrapped the covers/binding of the BBB and 3 ring punched the whole book as soon as the first pages fell out (almost as soon as it started getting used in-game). The much thinner softbound Hero Games #500 Hero System Rulebook on the other hand was a trooper. None of my many copies ever came apart despite hard use :D

FRED of course is made of Questionite and might well be indestructible. Not impervious to grape juice stains however :(

Hey!
Printers!
Leave our FReD alone.

This of course is not a statement against HERO v6 in another 8 to 10 years.
Besides what use have I for colour inserts? I'm colour blind.

Steve, If I ever hit the Lottery, how much do you think it would take in "investment capital" to reconsider the color Art? Just making a shoping list.

I like the black & white . It reminds me of the republications of Black & White versions of older comics of Marvel in the Essentials...it gives the game a past-tendse air like it was in the 60
