I'll be moving to the north Ft. Lauderdale region in late August, and I was wondering if anyone knew of any game groups and game shops in the vicinity?

I'm willing to go as far north as Boynton, and far south as Pembrook Pines.

Greetings Dauntless, :)

I live in Pompano Beach near Federal Hwy (US1) and Atlantic Blvd (next major road heading north after Commercial). I have a game here every Sunday.

We play a couple of Hero System games. We have two GMs who alternate each week with one running Champions & Rifts while the other runs Fantasy Hero.

We have a yahoo group at:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/soflahero/

Coach (James) takes care of it for us. Just request membership from him and he will probably have it for you in a couple of days. The website shows many of our members and gives an idea as to what has been happening in some of the games. Coach also posts here as well.

Please feel free to email me with any questions you have, and Welcome to S. Florida,

Greeter :)

Oh, the only game store I am aware of in the area is DragonsLair at 5118 S. State Road 7 (US441). Their phone number is 954-587-3347. www.lairevents.com

Thanks for the heads up. I'll take a look at your website once I get settled back in. I just got back from Boca actually since I'm still looking for a place to live actually (I was thinking from Deerfield, Coral Springs, Coconut Creek or the Pompano area). I'm going back to school at FAU, but a potential job is waiting in the north Ft. Lauderdale region. So I figured even if the job doesn't pan out, I don't mind driving 20minutes to school (I used to drive 30minutes to work when I was in Orlando).

It may take me a little while to settle in and get in to the grove of school, but once I do, you'll hear from me :)

Hopefully I'll be able to play with you guys soon.

BTW, I found a game store in Ft. Lauderdale by accident. It was on University Ave. about halfway between Commercial and Oakland Park (I was checking out a martial arts class waaay down right about where I-595 and University are). Unfortunately I don't remember the name of it, but it was pretty well stocked with Hero stuff, and it also had quite a few games 40% off...mostly older or out of print stuff, but still quite a few gems. It also had a few tables set aside for gamers though no one was playing on the Thursday that I was there. If you're heading north on University, it'll be on the right hand side a couple blocks past Oakland Parkway.

I have been there it is a pretty good store. Better than what we have down here in South Miami, the black hole of gaming.

Hey, thats near my old stomping grounds. I grew up (part of the time) in Wellington, outside of West Palm Beach.....Hows the gaming in that neck of the woods? Ive been trying to convince my wife to give up San Diego and move to FL with me :D

I guess the gamer scene is ok in these parts, but we could always use more. ;)

If you are successful in getting your wife to move, please look us up. :)
