Background: It was all supposed to be an experiment. Nature vs Nurture. The Archmage Boregus Blackstone manipulated two minor heroes, a priestess of the God of Justice (Archedes) and one of the Dragon Clansmen, a doughty warrior backed by a strong draconic bloodline. First he hired good-hearted adventurers to seek a lost artifact for Archedes church (that he'd researched). Then he used agents in various cities to bring them closer together, a rumor here, an "a flower for your lovely lady?" there, and in a few years they had married and bore a handsome young child.
Then Borgeus slew them and had the child brought to him.
Alec was raised by Borgeus and a few of his apprentices with matronly personalities. Utterly loyal to his adopted father (fed lies from his infancy), Alec had natural magical abilities, he studied and worked to master true wizardry, but his true talents lie in the physical realm. Alec was a powerhouse with few rivals among his followers. Borgeus requested that Alec be bound to the life force of a dragon, enhancing his powers. It was dangerous but he did so without question.
Borgeus had Alec lead his forces against noble armies. He did so without hesitation. True, he showed honor and mercy when he felt he could get away with it. He would rebel, but never betray. Never fail.
Then Borgeus encountered a rather curious being. A fey born nymph who had taken up the call of a priestess to the Nature God. Charged with protecting the tomb of a great high priest and the surrounding forests, she attempted to discourage Borgeus' "research". He captured her for study.
He abused her.
And one day, he sent his son Alec to interrogate her. And Alec fell in love at first site. His jealous lover (and also Borgeus' apprentice) Rhianae alerted her master. Borgeus was intrigued. He wondered if Alec would betray him. So he left Alec in charge and left for an extended fact finding/Vacation.
Alec freed the divinely touched nymph and they escaped.
Borgeus noted the betrayal and ended his experiment. Now all that was left was to destroy the subject and recapture his unique Guardian. Perhaps she could be corrupted? It would be interesting.
Personality: Alec is a confused young man. He was, and in many ways is still, a loyal son to his beloved father. Sure, he was never cruel or heartless. But he never failed his father. He knew what he did was wrong, but that wasn't enough. Phaedra's charms sowed within him compassion and passion. He was willful and rebellious even as he was loyal; and now he's broken his bond to Borgeus. This saddens him, even as he is happy he no longer has to harm the innocent. At the moment, his overriding desire is to make sure she is safe, healed. He will do anything to protect her.
Powers/Tactics: This is an epic/manga/anime styled Superheroic fantasy campaign. Alec Dragonborne is phenomenally powerful for physically and he backs that up with sorcery and intense combat training. He was bonded to a Thunder Dragon and can emit a thunderous "Breath Weapon" that is both Electricity and Sonic based. His flesh resists killing attacks, and he is a skilled martial artist. He prefers to fight hand to hand (unarmed); using his magic to further enhance his physical skills.
Quote: As you wish, Father.
Campaign Use: Well, he'd be great in a dimension hopping Champions game or a High level Video Game Martial Arts campaign. Even for Edean, however, he's a bit on the high end of the scale. He makes a nice lieutenant or mid boss working still for Borgeus. Or he could just be a frightening encounter (even if he's on the PC's side).
Appearance: Alec is good looking. His draconic heritage is mostly subsumed; noticeable only in his hair (blue-black) and eyes (electric blue), he also has slightly elongated canine teeth. His physique is muscular and sturdy, but not too thick. Currently he still wears the garb of his father's army; Black tabbard with red sigil over heart over black clothing. He also has dark blue armor plates on his arms, shoulders, thighs, and boots. His headgear is an open faced helm with a dragon motif; his hair is just beneath his shoulders.
I don't have his Charctersheet finished yet. But I had to get the story on "paper". :)
