Well, as long as a thread for suggestions has been posted, I might as well toss in a few of my own for historical figures who might make for interesting and useful NPC writeups. Off the top of my head:

Aleister Crowley
Lucrezia Borgia
Cardinal Richelieu
Leonardo da Vinci
Nostradamus
Confucius
Pharaoh Hatshepsut (the only woman to rule Egypt as Pharaoh)
Vlad Tepes (the historical version)

As a musician, I'd like to see Mozart convereted too. I wonder if his power would be Mind Control or Transform?

Poor Nostradamus, I'm a fan, but I fear his primary Disadvantage would be being so often misquoted :(

Aimee Semple McPherson would be an interesting character for a pulp-era or early WWII game. If Jason doesn't want to write her up, I may give it a shot myself.

Who is she? What'd she do?

Guys,
Thank you for the suggestions! It's a pleasure to hear from all of you.... heck, it's a delight to know that so many of you read my column. These are all very fine ides, so I was hoping that several of you could help me out a little:

Koshka: Do you have any raw research material in digital form on Aimee Semple McPherson? If so, that is defiantly something I would like to see.

Lord Liaden: These are all excellent recommendations, but Pharaoh Hatshepsut is the one that most intrigues me. Do you have any links that you could email me?

Nightfly: Jim Morrison and Elvis - done!

BoloOfEarth: Benjamin Franklin (a personal favorite of mine) - done!

bcholmes: Inspector Abberline? That sounds interesting; could you tell me more?

Once again, thank you guys! My email is jasonwalters@herogames.com - feel free to drop me a line.

Abberline was the Scotland Yard Inspector who investigated the Jack the Ripper murders. He later went on to join the Pinkerton Detective Agency after he retired from the Yard.

An excellent sourcebook for the character would be Alan Moore's From Hell. Johnny Depp played Abberline in the movie of the same name, but the film added a lot of stuff that had nothing to do with the historical Abberline.

How 'bout honoring a "hoofer" like Hines, Sammy, or Mr. Bo Jangles.

Song 'n Dance as a power could be cool!!

I believe I heard on the radio today that Gregory Hines just passed away from cancer, age 57. If confirmed, I must say that an article would be a nice tribute.

Interesting, guys. I don't see any reason why I SHOULDN'T do a dancer.... and think about the ridiculous martial arts I could cook up!

The most dance-like MA I've ever heard of is called Capoeira which (as you probably already know) can be found on pg.22 of UMA :)

Yeah, but imagine what you could justify with a tap dancer. How about "Autofire Kick," or "Weapon Element: Tap Shoes?" :D

Hey, if Aaron Allston could design "Stooge Fu", this would be no stretch. ;)

Any hints who to expect in #15?
Come on, how about a teaser preview (name only).

Hint:
"When I was six
my father Thutmose the First
lifted me up to sit beside him
on his throne of Amen.
He said, Flower of Egypt,
you will be a ruler."

Cool Hint!

Ancient Egypt would be a trippy era to role play.

Answer: Hatshepsut

FYI A write-up of Josephine Baker is in Digital Hero 3 that gives her a dance related martial art.

I would love to see Elvis written up for Hero. I could see him having some bardic-like powers. It reminds me of the Black Hands from KODT. Nitro's god of music in his world is Elvis. The chief god is Andy Warhol.

Or you could reveal the various Black Ops skills he was taught by the CIA when he went undercover for them... dw

I was thinking that I would have him orbiting the earth in a flying sauser, practicing John Denver songs!

An Evel Knievel or Lenny Bruce writeup could be cool too
:p
