View Full Version : Block - Usable at range?

So I'm working on a Cap America homage character. The main idea is a shield which has a martial block usable at range. So in one round he could block the guy punching him then throw the shield to block the guy punching his friend, and return to block the other guy punching him. Maybe a little extra speed bought (spd only used for blocking). Anyone played a character like this, if so what did you think? Does this power seem too good, not good enough for a whole power set premise? Also does anyone have a true Cap America character that I could take a look at?
Thanks!

I *think* there's a Ranged Block maneuver for Ranged Martial Arts.

There are probably a dozen Captain A character sheets floating around the 'Net. :)
I don't know about ranged blocking ... just one of those things that makes me go 'uh?' on some level, but I don't have a logical reason behind it.

Perhaps a modified Force Wall?

Stretching?
You're a genius. Stretching, does not cross intervening space does the trick nicely, I believe.

The Great Net Book Of Real Heroes has five versions.....The page with links
to them is:
http://www.sysabend.org/champions/gnborh/gnborh/gnborh_A-C.html
The point totals run the range from 250pts to 683pts, tho' only the 683pt
version is written in 5th Ed. The others are for 4th Ed.
BTW, the GNBORH also has a character sheet for Caps sidekick Bucky as well
at: http://www.sysabend.org/champions/gnborh/text/Bucky-tlm.txt
should your homage need a follower/DNPC. :D

Would the shield not cross the intervening space tho? It needs to get from point A to point B and can't do so if there is a wall there.

To produce the shield on the other side of a barrier you'd have to apply the Indirect Advantage to your stretching. :)
As it is, you'll need line-of-sight and no barriers to impede your "stretching" (or throwing) the shield to block an attack.
