Hi Steve; I was perusing the Rules FAQ and noticed this bit:

Rules FAQ Combat & Adventuring
Q: If a character does Knockback in an upward direction (say, from an uppercut), is it halved, as using Flight straight upward would be? If so, does this affect the damage taken?

A: Upward Knockback isn’t halved. The inches traveled and damage suffered are per the standard rules.

OK, I am not challenging the design decision involved in this, but Im rather curious about it bcs it doesnt seem to jive with the usual up=half distance. Using this rule, a character could punch himself in the jaw Tyler Durden style with a Double Knockback HA and get more lift than they could just flying or leaping.

Granted thats a fairly ridiculous example, but that same character could buddy-punch a flying or gliding teammate into the air and if they get high enough they dont fall immediately.

It just seems like gravity should counteract some of the Knockback 'thrust' just as it does flight or leap.

Sorry in advance if this is an inappropriate question.

Thanx!

BTW: Got Fantasy HERO yesterday. Didnt get to sleep until 5 am, slept all day, and now Im at work at 4 am making up lost time :D

If you don't like it, you can easily change it for your own games.

Glad you're enjoying FH. ;)
