View Full Version : Will the Champions MMO support different playing styles?

One issue that I have had with some MMOs is that different players have different prefered playing styles.
- The Raid (the player likes epic/mult-group battles.)
- The Group (The "normal" 4-6 player group of most MMOs)
- The Mini-Group (A group of only 2-3 characters.)
- The Solo (One player by themselves.)
Is there any information that CHAMPIONS will support each of these type of playstyles? (If no, do we know yet which ones will it be supporting?)

I have a definite preference. My wife and I definitely prefer to play together and at times that are convenient to us.

Using CoH/CoV as a basis...
Most of my play time is spent with a friend as a duo. We decline outsiders who want to join our team.
There are characters I make for soloing and characters I make for fighting in groups. I generally owe it to myself to try a little of everything and choose my favorite. I've played alongside board members (always fun), alone (which allows me to constantly hop on and off line--something that usually annoys teams), and with an ongoing team that crumbled when half the players became too busy to play.
I've done a few "Giant Monster" fights in CoH, but haven't done the legendary Hamidon raid. The one time I was invited to do so, I died 3 times successively in minutes and decided it wasn't for me.

But, has anyone seen a posting or blog entry on what the Cryptic Team plans to do? :bounce:

If any such info has been provided -- and AFAIK it hasn't been -- it'll be somewhere on the COMMO website. You could always send them a question about this; maybe they'll answer it in their next posted Q&A.

Definitely a 'mini-grouper'. Love the 2-4 man groups. Any more and my poor, overtaxed mind starts to boggle.

I usually start in a mini-group with my wife and maybe one other person, but will sometimes pick up others and end up in a full group. I am hoping you can do this without too much issue as far as content level.

I will repost this thread on the Cryptic forums.
(Or, I will when their forums are back up.)
