So what do edition of Fantasy Hero do your consider the new book.
I'm going with Fantasy for 5th edition or Medieval FREd :).

You know, this is an interesting question.

I have always considered the last Fantasy Hero edition (the one for 4th) as Fantasy Hero 4th edition even though it is only the 3rd Fantasy Hero.

It is far easier, in my mind at least, to consider the Fantasy HERO edition to be the same as the edition of rules it uses.
Thus the current and latest Fantasy Hero in my mind will be Fantasy Hero 5th edition.

Now, if they come up with a new edition of Fantasy Hero before a new edition of FRED I will be in trouble, but I kinda doubt it will happen.

That would be what, Fantasy Hero 5.5?

Call it Fifth Edition Fantasy Hero, that way the "Fifth Edition" has precedent over the "Fantasy Hero"

As goofy as it seems, to me FH is 1st ed (which was stand alone), 4th ed (required 4th ed HERO) and 5th ed (requires 5th ed HERO). I suppose the might be considered 1st, 2nd and 3rd, or 3rd, 4th and 5th but I never have.

Instead of "Medieval Fred," how about just "MedFred?" Rolls off the tongue well. ;)

I went for 1st ed FH. Though imperfect it felt more like fantasy than 4th ed, and was easy to pick up. I haven't seen 5th ed FH yet since way out here we don't get things like that in anything like a timely manner.

I would call it Fantasy Hero 5th Edition or Fantasy Hero for 5th Edition. Calling it FH 3rd Edition will confuse some people that will want to get FH for FREd (and assume it would be 5th edition).

How about just "The Thick One"?
Or "Five and a Half Pounds of Fantasy Fun" (ties in with the 5.5 theme, as well!)

Ugh, for ease, I'm referring to it as the "current version of FH".

Among old-school Hero/FH gamers, I might refer to it as the "3rd version of FH".

Among other gamers, I'd go with my first statement, or perhaps elaborate and say "FH for 5th ed Hero".

Old Man in the The Really Big Book thread suggested FHonebook due to its size.

I still have a copy of the 1st softcopy version of Fantasy Hero from a long time ago. Too bad I tossed out the beta work of version 1, though. It seems most people think of it as Fantasy Hero for 5th edition, according to the poll. I think it's a good idea because it ties in the fresh look of Fantasy Hero with the the Hero Games 5th edition book. No ones going to be thinking of the 1st edition copy... well, except maybe me. :)

I still fondly remember the 1st (Peterson) edition of FH. I appreciate Steve's contribution but 1st ed. was a self-contained game that worked just fine except for the STR bug. And it ...felt... more like fantasy.

The FHonebook does win points for completeness, though. Jesus.

Where?:)

I don't really know what I'd call this book besides "One Book to Break Your Back".
