The Devil's Advocate?

You are at the trial of some crooks you and your party recently took down. At first it looks like you could reasonably expect this to be an open and shut case, but then you see who the crooks got to represent them in court; a big shot lawyer by the name of Rolland Fairweather, who you know of only by reputation. Though handsome and charming (when he's not badgering someone on the witness stand, that is), there is something subtly creepy about Mr. Fairweather that you just can't put your finger on. His involvement in this case has had the effect you might expect; his cross-examinations of the prosecution's witnesses thus far have been devastating, both for the prosecution's case and for the witnesses personally.

With court in recess for lunch, you take the opportunity to observe Fairweather outside the courtroom. Particularly note worthy are what happens as Rolland passes a blind man and his seeing eye dog and a young mother and her infant in the hallway. The dog, a golden retriever, bares its teeth and growls at him just as he passes within a foot of the animal and its disabled master. Similarly, the baby begins to cry very loudly and inconsolably the instant he walks by, despite the mother's best efforts. He shrugs off both incidents as if he's use to that sort of thing happening. Who or what is this Rolland Fairweather? WWYCD?

Most of my characters would merely watch him closely and investigate. If the guy radiates evil magic, Olorin would know in a second. That means devils, demons and such would be known instantly. If not, Olorin would do a bit of magic detecting (evil, otherworldliness, etc.)

GloryFox - I would use my passive light of revealing aura to suppress Illusion and mental powers.
Spirit of Freedom - meh, not to worry, these things happen. Get em next time.
The Grasshopper - is not above kicking the evil attorney in the groin.

Hellfire would start praying (silently) when court reconvenes.
Riptide would make lawyer jokes. (Of course he's evil! He's a lawyer!)
The Wizard of Oz Incorporated would go back to work once he finished testifying
Poet would ask his friends for a rundown on him.

Silverbolt: grumble loudly, but serectly be rather pleased as it gives him a chance to beat up the bad guys again.

well, Zero's a mentalist, so he can poke around in the lawyer's brain - an ordinary human wouldn't even notice.

And Vitus would investigate a few things... if a purebred demon, then it's execution time. Sacred Fire should do the trick. If merely a hybrid, shrug it off. Vitus thinks the whole set-up in Earth courts is a ridiculous waste of time. Throwing a few half-breeds into the mix doesn't make a difference. He'll just have to make sure the crooks 'accidentally' drive their out-of-control getaway vehicle over the edge of the bridge next time. What a pity they never surface.

Cougar - Detective work not really being his bailwick. He would ask a qualified friend to investigate and research the suspect.

Nemesis - Would divide the work among his duplicates, using their Detective skills, and knowlege of the Law and the Legal World. Given enough information he would seek the aid of a qualified superhuman to resolve the matter.

Lifeguard - Living in the Wanted Universe would ask for assistence from a qualified superhuman and then act on their suggestion.

Badger can sense demonic aura. After the trial would eliminate the lawyer with extreme prejudice. (Though he'd have to be bit more discreet than usual it seems with this one)
