You are in a mall when the zombies attack. You have:

2. one song blasting on the speakers.
3. one famous person to fight alongside you.

Weapon can be real or fictional, you may assume endless ammo if applicable. Person can be real or fictional.

1. belt fed 40mm grenade launcher with hollywood ammo pack or 4mm VRF Gauss Gun.
2. Purple Haze... Jimmy Hendrix
3. Sgt Juan Rico in Mobile Infantry Armor, or the Bruce Campbell Elvis from Bubba Hotep

1. Weapon: Lightsaber
2. Music: Score from Conan the Barbarian (do musical scores count?)
3. Sidekick: Eowyn. I hear she has experience fighting undead.

2. Brains...Voltaire (It's catchy, and sorta about Zombies)
3. Herbert West (Because hey, they're Zombies)

1. Shotgun
2. Sabotage - The Beastie Boys
3. Vin Diesel - cuz as a fellow gamer (once we get past how cool his character is) he'd be able to think creativly enough to help get us out AND tough enough to bring the pain.

1. SPAS-12, on semi-auto, and plenty of reloads.
2. Tubthumping by Chumbawamba
3. Shaun, armed with a cricket bat.

2. Meaning Of Life - Disturbed
3. Milla Jovovich (eh, I think she's hot, and since I'm still in fantasy land, when we're done . . .)

Weapon: Cardinal Glick's blessed golf club. works great against zombies and it never runs out of ammo.

Song: Werewolves of London - not exactly zombie related, but wicked cool.

God: Well, you can't go wrong with a diety. I think fighting alongside the Morgan Freeman version (Evan Almighty) would be a kick. He seems the sort that would have a blast fighting zombies.

1) A pump-action shotgun, 'cause shotguns automatically make everything cooler.
2) Comfortably Numb -- Pink Floyd
3) Arucard -- Hellsing. As with the Saint of Killers, I'd probably just have to stand and watch the carnage.

On the flip side, I'm thinking Seras Victoria (also Hellsing), if only for the T&A factor. :D

And on a more serious note -- Corporal Dwayne Hicks (Aliens).

Curufea
Jun 10th, '08, 05:51 PM
Problem with Arucard - He's a bit flippant/irreverent/arrogant. He could get bored and wander off.
The advantage of the Saint is - he's obsessively annoyed with just about everyone and will kill everything in his way.

2) The instrumental theme to Island of Dr. No.
3) Chuck Norris. Obviously.

Weapons: custom-modified Remington M870 loaded with solid slugs and No4 shot shells. Plus a Milkor MGL-140 40mm MGL and plenty of ammo, esp HE and WP.
Music: "Mein Teil" by Rammstein (for the irony - it's about the Armin Meiwes cannibalism story.)
"Sidekick": Either S/Sgt Henno Garvey or Sgt Taura from the Dendarii Free Mercenaries 'cos she would just pile in and start ripping with those claws of hers.

You mean you've never heard of Sgt Taura and the Dendarii Free Mercenaries? Then check out the Vorkosigan Saga by Lois McMaster Bujold now!

Okay - The relatively realistic approach. I'm still me. I am NOT good at melee. But I have a steady hand and could be good fire support and/or back-up for someone up who IS.

That said, let's not take any fucking chances! I want to HIT the target, FIRST time, EVERY TIME!

I think the following ought to just about guarantee THAT!

The WEAPON:

The Famous Person:

JACKIE CHAN
(And the following video isn't even the best of the best of his stuff! But it DOES showcase one of the best examples of using your environment to your best advantage, which would be important in the "Zombies at the Mall" scene!)

Discovery channel has an interesting concept of "new". The AA-12 was in 1st ed Morrow Project so 1983-ish?

25 years and its still "just about ready for the market" maybe someday it will be released.

Still it is a Bob Bitchin zombie blaster, nice choice and vid. :D

Sorry to disappoint you, Susano.

BTW I just reread the rules - it says 1 weapon, so I'll ditch the Milkor. With an AA12 loaded up with FRAG-12s I won't need a grenade launcher anyway.

I would have called in an F15E Strike Eagle loaded up with cluster bombs, but I figured that was cheating. :D

IN reverse order: Ash (Army of Darkness version, with him around I might not need to reload either!!)

Pachabels the planets, (perhaps just the Mars song if it is separate, IE supermans theme song, though Ash would be soooo WTF!?!?!)

thought technically 1 weapon it would have to be either the S-Mart Shotgun or the chainsaw, with Ash and myself doing the weapon switch as needed.

A tough choice. Do I go with real-world weapons and real-world people? If I start talking about fictional people, then fictional weapons are also in play, right? More importantly, should I choose my person for maximum zombie-killing potential, or go with someone I'd want to make out with afterward?

Realistic: my SOCOM-16 for the weapon--in a mall, there won't be any distances where I can't easily put a 150-grain softpoint into a zombie's head. For my buddy, I'm guessing I'd want a SWAT team member or something, maybe a Navy SEAL. No one I personally know would be a *great* choice.

Unrealistically . . . :D
Weapon: Power Ring. Buddy: Optimus Prime.

"Ballroom Blitz" would be a good tune, especially if Optimus and I were splatting zombies right and left.

Dum, da da da dum dum; Dum, da da da dum dum . . .

DAH, da da, da dum; DAAHH da da, da dum!

It's an awesome piece, worth finding and listening to if you haven't. I have no basis for this other than the similarity, but I have to think that Mars, Bringer of War was on John Williams' mind when he wrote the Imperial March.

When I was a kid I used to imagine stormtroopers marching when I listened to "Mars, the Bringer of War".

Now, of course, it's John Carter kicking backside on Barsoom.

It was also used for the "Quatermass Experiment" and probably for the rest of the "Quatermass" shows as well, except for the last one.

I was thinking Optimus Prime for maximum zombie-killing fun. I'd go with, I don't know, Major Motoko Kusanagi, or maybe Pris Asigiri, if I was thinking about making out afterward. Or maybe Nene Romanova . . . she's cute and spunky, I'm guessing she'd be a lot of fun.

Hmm, Ok, if we went with "real world stuff" It might be something like this:

Weapon: As long as it came with a backpack full of ammo, a P-90 with laser site. Light, accurate, easy to hold and has a huge clip and is more powerful than most SMGs.

Music: Theme to the original battlestar galactica.

Companion: Rush Limbaugh, who I would immediately shoot in the leg and use as a stalking horse for the zombies. I'd I pull back, focus on the zombies coming after me then began picking off he ones piling on limbaugh's ample corpse.

1. Stubb gun from Judge Dredd, decapitate zombies behind walls, collapse walls on them, slice through whole crowds, excellent.

Possibly even more important - they have a strong tendency to overheat and explode, as various Judges learned during the Apocalypse War

Weapon: Triffid Gun. Fires a high-speed shuriken or boomerang-shaped razor sharp steel blade (designed for trimming the stings off Triffids, but also perfect for ranged decapitations!)
Music: Lost in the Shadows By Lou Gramm (Lost Boys theme)
Ally: Simo Hayha, The White Death. 505 Kills during the Winter War - mostly with iron sights. Anything I miss, he'll get.

Never heard of the triffid gun. Did they expand on the day of the triffids storyline?

Also never heard of simo hayah. What story is he from? BTW, for a real sniper, try Vasily Zeitsez, from stalingrad during ww2.

It's from the original novel. I recall it.

He's from the Winter War, Finland versus USSR circa 1940-1941.

Yeah, I recall it also. Basically shot a razor-sharp disc that could easily decapitate a triffid.

Though .... a gun that fired triffids would be rather awesome - but probably not much good against zombies.

They actually did expand on Day of the Triffids. There was a sequel, Night of the Triffids, but I honestly wouldn't bother with it - it's dramatically inferior to Wyndham's masterwork.
The Triffid Gun is mentioned in passing in the original novel as the tool that got the initial Triffid outbreak under control. One is also used in the BBC mini-series version of Day.
Simo Hayha, on the other hand, was merely the best sniper in all of history.

I looked up triffids on wiki. Wow, sure were different than the old movie.

I wonder why no one's done a rpg product with them?

As to snipers, I still think vasily zeitsev might be the best.

Hmmm, one thing: If triffids only have a sense of hearing, how the hell do they aim at a human's eyes?

Mad, Crazy Awesome Choices?
A) Excaliber.
B) A bad-ass classical music score sung by a Valkyrie choir who collect the grateful souls of the people who were zombified.
C) A Star Trek holoprogram with portable generator. (Because if I can only have one person, I'm having somebody who can be other people, too. But for now, I'll go for having it replicate Jadzia Dax with a Bat'leth.)

'Realistic' Choices?
A) A spear (because I'm better at thrusting with a spear than any 'swinging' weapon, and ranged weapons always run out. Maybe something to shoot in case I absolutely have to save somebody at range. Maybe.)
B) Queen's Greatest Hits, plus one or two extras, like Bon Jovi's "It's my life".
C) Ahnold The Governator (on the one hand, he can still crush puny zombie skulls, and on the other hand, if the Governor of California goes missing, he's going to have a huge search party out looking for him. And if they don't find him till me and him have wiped out the zombies, then I'm the hero who helped Arnie wipe out an army of zombies.)

Experience, actually. There's a notable instance of a child being missed by a Triffid's attack because the sting went over his head - at head height for an adult. Basically, they guess - but with their good hearing and range, and capacity to communicate experiences to each other, it's a well-informed and usually effective guess.

I also recall a scene where a Triffid is lashing out ineffectually at the backs of sheep.

Yes. I have to admit, I always wondered whether the Russians originally designed the Triffid as a weapon, and the wonderful oil was just a by-product - they seemed remarkably well designed to kill humans.

i like the green lantern ring as a weapon since not only does it shoots, it automatically provides protection for close in attacks.

i like a lot of music, but in a fight like this I would like a fighting song like Headstrong by Trapt, You're going down by sickpuppies, or princes of the universes by queen

I don't know about a partner since a GL ring is almost the perfect weapon in its own. Maybe Agatha Heterodyne since not only would she find a cure for zombification, she would make it dynamic and full of lightning.
