Still looking for players in the Greenville/Spartanburg area of SC. Haven't gamed in waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long. Got a Star Wars and a few supers games in my head begging to get out. Will GM or play, open to most systems.

Have you tried joining or running a play-by-post or play-by-email game?

Or another alternative is an online chat-based game like OpenRPG or Map Tool. Throw in a Ventrillo or similar VoIP setup and it is almost like being around the table. There are those of us that have used one or both of the chat programs on these boards that can help you.

I've tried play-by-post and play-by-email, and just haven't gotten them to work for me. As for VOIP, doesn't that cost money? I've thought of running play-by-chat using Yahoo messenger, but the people I was trying to set it up with never seem to be online when I am. I think I need F-T-F, but can't seem to find any gamers around here (well, except for one group of like 4 guys who only play D&D... and I've even lost contact with them).

As for VOIP, doesn't that cost money? Free. Well, Ventrillo or Teamspeak is free. For that matter, VoIP was only a suggestion. I play with OpenRPG every Thursday and all we do is chat via the text interface. It is slower, but that works okay for us.

As to the other guys flaking out, you might try dropping a line here in the Player Finder. I actually found my group in the Star HERO forums here and opened up a couple of slots with a post to the Player Forum. I felt bad because I had too many applicants for the game at the time and I had to turn some down. That was tough.

If things are still the same, I'm sure there are a lot of people edging to play. Worst case scenario is that nobody responds and you are no worse off. Still, just a suggestion to an alternate venue. My user title is Online Gaming Advocate for a reason. :)

At any rate, I wish you the absolute best luck and if you do need help with OpenRPG or Maptool (assuming you go that route), drop me a PM. I'll be happy to help.

Thank you very much GothKidSamurai. I'll have to give it a better look when I'm not at work.

You can find Star Wars games in PbP format at places like the Holonet (http://holonet.swrpgnetwork.com) and at RancorPit (http://www.rancorpit.com/forums/)
