I'm trying to model a gauntlet that provides protection, HTH bonuses and a ranged attack. How can I convince HD that powers outside a multipower are included in a peice of equipment?

Failing that, can I just put the Armor, Levels and Attack in a compound power?

Looking at the Main Gauche in FH, it would seem that the Armor and Levels have to be modeled separately.

I'm not really sure what you're trying to do....if you want each of the three abilities to be part of the same piece of equipment, just define them each as having the same Focus. There's really nothing for HD to do there....there's no actual interaction between the powers. It's just a part of the definition....something that you and the GM understand.

The only time you really need a Compound Power is when you want to Link items within a Multipower (or other Power Framework). Since you can't Link different slots, you have to use a Compound Power to combine them into a single slot.

I don't dare imagine that I could add anything to what Dan's already said, but I find that using a list for the item in question sometimes highlights the "connection" that all of the powers share (in this case, the main gauche).

That would also allow you to assign the focus (and any other) limitations to the entire list, instead of adding it individually to each power. Something like

Shark's Tooth: OAF, Main Gauche (-1)
- 1D6 HKA, No KB (-1/4)
- 3D6 Hand-Hand Attack
- +3 PD Armor, only covers locations XYZ (-whatever)

Just my $.02 worth.....
