How do i "Summon" a template to insert it into a character I am creating, such as to give a character a specific martial arts package?
This will become an especially important consideration once the Fantasy Hero pack comes out -- all those crunchy races, spells and professions just dying to be added to my characters! But I don't know enough about the inner workings of HD to know how to insert one file into another.

I think what your wanting to do is load prefabs, not templates. Read the doumentation

Prefabs? is that what I'm looking for?
Call me a fool, but I often find myself having an incredibly difficult time finding the dcumentation files on programs on my computer. Or navigating them (which for an e-book publisher is a really sad character trait). I see the menu command for "load prefab", but when I use it I don't get to see anything added to my character.
What I want to do it take a martial arts style from the UMA/NH packet (which is on my hard drive), place it in a blank character, and then build the rest of the character around the style. Sort of like trying to buld a master swordsman -- first I grab all the skills and martial arts manuvers of the master swordsman package (whichever one i choose0m then I add the characteristics and the other skills in support before finally adding the disads to round out the character.

Help -> View Documentation
Go to page 28 (the section on Prefabs) and read up on it.
