Because, let's face it, a really original and interesting crook is hard to think up.

That was yesterday, and the cops have no more idea now than they did then.

Of course, if his escape plan had failed for whatever reason, then we would currently be chortling over his foolishness ("He tried to use an inner tube as a getaway vehicle? How sad is that?")

Too funny. :)

I forsee all police in the future as being equipped with an inner tube, snorkel, and hang glider -- just in case.

Seems The Inner Tube Thief had a more complex plan than originally thought.

Yes, Craigslist! Now that's what I call a plan!

Hello! I'm resurrecting this because the "inner tube robber" has just been convicted. Yes, I missed the arrest. :o

Anyway, the latest is HERE (http://www.komonews.com/news/51808947.html).

Yeah, caught because some homeless guy noticed a can of Mace, a wig, and a 2-way radio, and then noted down the license #, and then told the cops.

A top-of-the-line plan spoiled by a nosy passerby.

You couldn't get away with a coincidence like that in a story!

Oh, well, it's still a terrific idea-seed for GMs. (minus the homeless guy, of course ;) )

Dr. Infamous is taking copious notes. So is The Mallard.
