This Wednesday marks the one-year anniversary of my PbP campaign over at Hero Central called Rainbow's End. To celebrate, I decided to show some of my characters and events that occur in the campaign world.

As GM, I love the continuity of a universe so all of the campaigns I run occur within my own constructed universe. Some of the items I will include in this thread will be from any of the campaigns I run, because they all occur in the same world.

To start: The Champion. This world's greatest hero. The super hero who helped keep the crime levels of the world low and, despite a world full of paranormal villains, kept the world safe. The nearly invulnerable hero battled villains for years, basing himself in Randolph Glenn, a city in upstate New York. Working alone on the surface, the Champion actually had a huge secret organization helping him with his battle against crime, including one of his former enemies, a man named Stanton. Stanton had battled the Champions for years in the guise of Chaos, but repented, becoming his closest friend and advisor.

The Champion knew things were destined to change. He had prophetic dreams and his reoccuring dream included a series of images showing the destruction of the USA at the hands of the Champion's arch nemesis, Christian Araya. What is worse, the dream always began with the first image: The Champion lying dead in Starr Forest.

Knowing that the future appeared bleak, the Champion placed Stanton on a mission to recruit a team of heroes to help prevent the destruction of the country... especially if he wasn't there to help.

And the worst came to being. The Champion, to the shock and horror of the entire world, was found dead at the center of a huge impact crater in Starr Forest. The world mourned, but Stanton had to subdue the feeling caused by the death of his friend. He had to recruit the team to help stop the dreams, and, in the process, solve the mystery of who killed the Champion. Stanton recruited the robot RD 13, the speedster Whoosh, electrical being Faraday, the black hole possessing Event Horizon, the gusty Windstorm, the winged feline Tia Brightflame and the egnimatic Tomfoolery. They became the Champions of Justice.

One of Stanton's recruits was named Tom Lipton. Calling himself Tomfoolery, he was a shape shifter who seemed to find joy and a lot of silliness in life. Tom had an abusive childhood with a father who would beat both him and his mother. The only thing poor Tom could do to escape was to engulf himself in the world of movies, becoming an expert. When young Tom gained his mysterious powers, he confronted his father, and, in that confrontation, Tom's father was killed accidentally. This incident would affect Tom for years to come.

Tom became Tomfoolery to hopefully made amends for his tragic past, but the memory of causing his father's death stuck with him. Tom moved away from Randolph Glenn to continue his heroic plight. Then, he heard that his beloved mother had been stricten with alzheimer's and was nonresponsive. Tom's already fragile psyche could not handle this... blaming himself for her condition.

Tom broke. Already nearly schizophrenic, Tom became a killer, blaming all paranormals for his father's death. Tom knew that a paranormal killed his father and cost his mother her mind. Tom began murdering paranormals and became known in the media as the Costume Killer. He brought his killing home to Randolph Glenn.

But his heroism still shone through when Stanton recruited him. At first, this was perfect. He could stay inside the Champions of Justice and prevent them from solving the serial killer case. But something surprising happened to him. He grew to care for these people. When Tom returned to the site he hid his father's body, in cement at a construction site of the new wing to Roselawn Hospital, Tom flipped out and was brought down by his teammates. Tom helped stop the Champion's killer and was sent to a mental institution to deal with his myriad of problems.

Pleiades

The sole survivor of her home planet of Baj Conta, Pleiades gained massive power from the destruction of the planet. She closed down, becoming a cold, merciless galactic bounty hunter. She is hired to retrieve escaped villains from the prison planet Bel Ashur. Pleiades is very arrogant and claims to always capture her target.

Pleiades has seven stars orbiting around her body, deflecting and reflecting any attack on her person. She also speaks in seven different female voices.

Pleiades arrived on earth in pursuit of escaped paranormal Feedback. Unfortunately, Pleaides arrived in dramatic fashion, creating an impact crater in the middle of the Champion's funeral. This led to a misunderstanding with law enforcement and a battle with the Champions of Justice. The situation was contained by RD 13, who formed a bond with the icy bounty hunter.

Pleiades, with the Champions of Justice, recaptured Feedback and returned her to Bel Ashur.

Bio-cape

BIO-CAPE is an agency within the Federal Bureau of Investigation that deals with the paranormal, including unexplained phenomenon, mysterious creatures, as well as super villains and rogue "Costumes."

BIO-CAPE stands for the Behavioral Initiative Observing Criminal Abhorrent Paranormal Effects. It was established in 1998.

Agent Bryan Simon and Agent Salazar DeClercq came to Randolph Glenn on the trail of the "Costume Killer" and caused some strain. Bryan Simon was, at one point, a costumed villain himself, known as the Shashaman. His past was spent attempting to gain paranormal powers. His storied past did not prevent his inclusion in BIO-CAPE, in fact, it is believed that his past helped his hiring.

After the serial killer was captured, Simon and DeClercq returned to Washington and Simon was promoted to Assistant Director of BIO-CAPE. DeClercq continued working cases. There are many other agents covering the cases across the country.

Winter

One of the PC characters in the Rainbow's End storyline was named Winter, played by Psylint. Winter was a Russian agent within the secret police. She appeared to be a girl of about 13, but was in actuality much older. She was cold and isolated much of the time. She only had one real close friend. Illyana. She was another paranormal agent for Russia known as Mind Czar. They were as close as they could be. Mind Czar was undercover inside the United States when she became another victim of The Costume Killer.

Hearing this, Winter came to the USA with her fellow agent Anya to track down the killer of her closest friend. While here, she joined up with the Champions of Justice. Little did she know, the person she was searching for was fighting beside her... Tomfoolery.

And what was more... Winter and Tomfoolery bonded. They had a friendship. Tom called Winter "Little Miss December". Tom's goofiness even rubbed off on Winter once in a while, though she was never as successful when she tried to joke like Tom. It just didn't flow. The irony of the situation was really excellent.

Unfortunately, Winter disappeared before the reveal that Tom was the killer. One of the reasons Tom felt guilt about what he had done was how much pain he had caused Winter. Winter's partner Anya has continued to search for her, hoping beyond hope that she can find the icy maiden.

The death of the Champion came about because of a conspiracy between several villains, mainly a young and powerful mystic named Skylar McManus. Skylar was the son of a recently deceased paranormal named the Rainbow Warrior. The Rainbow Warrior aka Shamus McManus was a close friend of the Champion and he saw the Champion as a son. Skylar was resentful for this relationship.

Christian Araya was the Champion's arch nemesis and he was approached by the French terrorist Denouement. Denouement had met Skylar in Ireland and had hatched this plan. Skylar had learned accidentally from his father that the Champion had one major weakness.... arsenic. This was a major secret that only the Champion and Stanton and Shamus knew. In fact, Stanton did not know that Shamus knew it.

As the Champion was investigating the crash landing in Starr Forest of intergalactic escapee Feedback, Skylar attacked thre Champion with the arsenic which led to his death.

Skylar and the others were eventually captured by the Champions of Justice. By killing the Champion, Skylar had picked up the Champion's weakness, and the CoJ had used an arsenic bomb to weaken the ultrapowerful Skylar. Tia Brightflame battled Skylar inside the black hole of Event Horizon. Skylar was defeated and slipped into an arsenic-induced coma, where he remains today.

The current storyline going is about a vigilante known as Penance. Penance is a religious based vigilante who has been picking and choosing between vicitms from the three warring crime families in Randolph Glenn.

Three crime organizations took up business in Randolph Glenn after the death of the Champion. The Rat, Carlos Querol and Cueball and his powered armored Solids and Stripes each had underworld connections in the city. Penance began killing members of each organization.

The Champions of Justice were pulled in when one of their own, their security head, Jim Roma, was framed for being the masked Penance.

Penance used scripture to support his tactics. He would arrive, kill his victim, and run off quickly. His hit and run techniques were clear. He had no intentions of staying around and continuing conflict.

The CoJ have many different suspects and are looking to narrow it down.

Richard Bausman was a rich, spoiled teenager with a hatred for women. From a wealthy family in Chicago, he abused his sister Mindy on a nearly daily basis. Mindy never seemed to cry or show the physicality of her brother.

Richard, as a seventeen year old, approached the Russian mob to do an unthinkable job. He hired them to kill his mother. The Russian mob accepted the job, with the promise of millions, and sent the deadly paranormal known as the Red Menace to off the woman. But the Red Menance killed, not only Richard's mom, but his beloved father as well.

With the inheritance and a bleak future, Mindy Bausman ran away. Wealthy now, she stayed away from her mysogonistic sibling. She was able to realize her power. She felt no pain and would heal almost immediately from any injury. Even touch on the skin was foreign to her. Feeling isolated, Mindy would continue to take greater and greater risks looking for something to allow her to feel something...anything.

Richard lost what little grasp he had and he decided to do something about it. Having a love of guns, Richard adopted a persona... Bloodsport. And Bloodsport began killing criminals in the Chicago area. Not just criminals though. Richard would kill many women, including two fiances-staging them like accidents.

Boith Richard and Mindy have found their way to Randolph Glenn. Richard took over the Flenker-Matthews corporation and party girl Mindy hooked up with Jim Roma. Both Bausman's became suspects in the Penance case.

Australian terrorist Malcolm has been finding ways to spread fear and hatred for several years now, but he has recently lauched his most horrible attack ever.

Malcolm attacked the Israeli embassy and the attack led to the deaths of multiple innocent people. The horrors of the bloody attack spread shockwaves across the planet, revealing how dangerous the world truly has become.

The attack has inspired Stanton to take a special step. He, in cooperation with Interpol and ICON (International Covert Operations Network), has planned on creating an international sister team to the Champions of Justice to deal with terrorism and major planetary threats.

Stanton, along with former CoJ member Whoosh has begun recruiting members for the new team to help change the face of the international community.

The city of Pryor Rock, Texas was the site of the reality television program named The Life and Times of Pryor Rock. The show followed a team of paranormals in their daily lives and their adventures that followed.

One day, the city of Pryor Rock underwent a strange transformation. Everything inside the city was changed to different shades of pink by the diva known as Shocking Pink, and she offered to return the city to its normal color for a high money pay-off.

Shocking Pink was the world's biggest fan of Happy Days, particularly the character "Pinky Tuscadero". Pink had hired a series of thugs to portray the different characters from the 70's iconic show.

Shocking Pink's attempt to blackmail the city of Pryor Rock was ended by the three person team named the Sign of Four, the diminutative flying brick named Silver Bullet, the magical and desperately cute teddy bear Theodore adn the gelatinous blob of goo known as Phlegm.

Lord Baphomet is the head of a demonic cult in the London Underground known as the Fallen Angels. Little is known about the mysterious cult leader. Most people have heard whispers of his existence, though most believed that he was nothing more than a myth... a story to tell the children to scare them into behaving.

Lord Baphomet's cult was involved in hiring another London based group known as the Jacks, who were a group who desired to see the return of the Empire, to torch a meeting of community to discuss the increase in cult activity.

It was revealed that Lord Baphomet and his Fallen Angels had been kidnapping orphans off the streets and out of orphanages of London. The reason behind these kidnapping are yet to be revealed.

As is the strange connection between the Fallen Angels cult and the international terrorist group known as Thrash. Could the kidnapping of these orphans have something to do with Thrash's overall plans?

The Champions of Justice

The Champions of Justice (CoJ) is the first paranormal super team in Randolph Glenn, organized by Stanton after the death of the Champion. The membership has been fluid since its beginning. Team members no longer active with the CoJ include the speedster Whoosh, the Russian agent Winter, Compassion and Justice, and Tomfoolery.

The current lineup of PC's from the Champions of Justice of the Rainbow's End campaign includes:

RD 13: Nicknamed "Arrdee", the robot was one of the first heroes recruited by Stanton. RD 13 was developed by the R & D Department 13, designed as a prototype to test whether devices such as this would be of assistance to emergency services. A lab accident resulted in a prototype that could not be copied. RD 13 began gaining skills that his creators did not expect. The project was canceled and RD 13 was held on to by the police precinct in the RGPD. The robot is very dedicated to the safety of the public and his teammates. His willingness to place itself in danger to protect others has made Arrdee quite the hero.

Tia Brightflame: Another original member, Tia Brightflame is a 6'1" humanoid cat, large brown feathered wings, long tail. Short, tawny golden fur with tufts of longer reddish-brown on ankles, wrists and tailtip. Long reddish-brown hair. Dresses in a shirt and shorts, usually wide. Tia's alter identity is of an actual show cat, named Miss Snowy. Tia was raised by an evil witch known as Lady Dark Cauldron. She did not treat Tia well and as soon as she learned enough magic, she escaped. Tia was able to fashion a spell to create a humanoid being. Called "Boss" by Arrdee, Tia and her magical bow and arrow is a handful for any villain to deal with.

Event Horizon: Steven Quark was a science prodigy and quickly moved through grade school, high school and college to earn his PHD's in Astrology, Physics, Cosmology, and Theoretical Space Studies. When he graduated at age 20, he went to work for NASA and developed a satellite that was sent to investigate a black hole. The satellite was sent into space to take measurements and collect debris from near the black hole. He harnessed the energy of a passing comet to reverse the satellite's direction so that it could safely return to Earth with the debris. Dr. Quark retrieved the container of "Black Hole Material" and took it to the lab for scientific analysis. During the course of his studies on this material, a catastrophic failure of the containment unit occurred and everyone thought the material dissipated into the atmosphere. In actuality, the material from the black hole fused itself with Dr. Quark and he became a Living Black Hole!

Faraday: Born on January 1, 1900 at midnight, he stopped aging in his twenties. He began to wander the world at an early age, meeting various people and seeing the world's sights. For example, he was present when Carter opened Tut's tomb. He always wanted to see more, to learn more. The more he saw, the more he realized that there were others like him, and that they moved to the background. He also saw the ugliness in the world, especially during WWI. He decided that he would use his abilities to try to help make the world a better place. He quickly decided decided that he couldn't do that as effectively as he wanted attacking the symptoms. He instead turned to uncovering the paranormal history, to bring his discoveries to the public that way. He started the Planetary Foundation to faciliate this, as well as cover his tracks. He participated in WWII, and got his fill of killing. He feels that killing brings one down to the level of the villains, and there were better ways. Among his current projects are to locate and protect those born on Jan. 1, 2000. This is because children born at the exact moment have special abilities. To date he has located four, and is taking pains to see to their protection and training, but also keeping his enemies from locating them. Faraday came out of the background to jointhe CoJ with his electrical powers.

Emerald: Shane Dixonwas always a bright child. And that made him the mark for bullies. One day a bully had cornered him, when a bright emerald green emerged from his head. He begged the bully to stop. And he did. Not only that, but he didn't remember the incident. As he grew up he regained more and more control over his powers. He loved comics, especially Detective comics. He wanted to be a detective as much as wanting to be a super hero. And he chose to be both. So, he opened a Agency called Dixon Detective Agency. It wasn't long after that when he started using his powers for good. One day, a reporter started asking him questions on a case he had just closed, as Shane. Her name was Andora Walker. They fell in love.
The mentalist, who glows green when his powers are used, moved to Randolph Glenn and joined the CoJ.

Miss Technique: or Missty as dubbed by Arrdee is named Polly Dresden. Polly had a good upbringing from a young age. Her father was a decorated policeman on the force and her mother was a well known businesswoman for one of the larger firms in New York City. She was smarter then normal kids her age, and all throughout school she would display that intelligence in her grades and her memorization skills. As she grew older though, she began toying with electronics around the house. Displaying an uncanny ability to tear them apart and put them back together in the same way they came apart. Shortly after taking apart her fathers boombox in the garage when she was twelve, she put it back together. As she was putting it back together though another one appeared next to her, just as her father was walking into the garage. Both were in shock at what had happened, but only would tell her mother and sister. Her father later told someone on the force who he could trust what happened, and told Polly his name. As time went on though, Polly began to show more and more abilities. The abilities to control machines with computers in them, like her fathers Police Car. Soon after this, her family was attacked and killed before her eyes. To the last... Save for her. As the assailants starting for her she would back away from them, backing into her mothers desk, reaching out she touched her mothers laptop, vanishing into the void of the internet. She later reappeared in Lieutenant Jacksons office... Shane Dixon, friend of her father, agreed to take her in. Moving to Randolph Glenn and joining the CoJ, Polly found out from Tomfoolery that her family was murdered by associates of the crimelord Tyrone Brown aka the Rat.

Flenker-Matthews Corporation

The Flenker-Matthews Corporation (called FM for short) had a long history of evil business in the world.

Originally owned by Christian Araya, the company was placed for sale when Araya was shown to be a criminal. Araya was one of the Champion's greatest enemies, and when he was brought down, he lost his wealth, including his company.

Bought by Brandon Flenker and a group of investors, the company was renamed. FM began studying genetics and began creating paranormal agents. Created by Dr, Pfadenhauer, a paranormal group named the Rara Aves was created.

Another being created was the powerhouse Scorn. Scorn was not a team player and didn't like being ordered around. Scorn first appeared as three individual naked women who then merged into Scorn. She left FM and the Rara Aves and hasn't been seen since.

FM was revealed to be involved in the conspiracy to murder the Champion and was once again placed on the market.

Richard Bausman purchased FM saying that he intended on creating a new image for the company, but Bausman only used the company to increase his life as the vigilante killer Bloodsport.

When Bausman is captured, his sister Mindy took over FM and decided to actually do what her brother had claimed he wanted to do. She wanted to stick it to Richard at first, but she soon discovered some terrible things about what FM had done, and she chose to really make a go of FM, including organizing a new paranormal team to help the world and protect the company from the enemies it may have.

Inspired by csyphrett's thread Walking with Strangers,(I recommend btw) here is a story about Roger Smith from the Rainbow Universe.

The light snow flying through the air above Washington, D.C. was causing only a minor problem for the city’s denizens on their nightly commute home, really only a dusting. And for Roger Smith, flying through the air on his way to his destination, it caused even less of a problem.

It had been too long for Smith. He so enjoyed the freedom the skies provided him. He should get out more often. His lifestyle did not permit it. The black outfit gripped tightly to the muscular mass of his body and the elastic mask blocked the snow from his face. Only the most eagle eyed individual could spot Smith this night. It made this trip all the more freeing.

The days as a super hero were past. The thrill of the power. The tingle of stopping some villain from completing their latest evil scheme. That rush was something that you just never get used to being gone. And you were surprised at what you would be willing to do to replace those sensations. Smith thought about the past with Roy, Susan, Chris and the others. How far from those days has he gone?

1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. That was Smith’s destination. He had a job to do. No sense thinking about what was… there is no going back now.

The black-encased paranormal landed silently on the ground. He knew how to avoid the security. He had been planning this excursion for months. And he hadn’t lost all of his skills. He was one of the best. He still is, he tells himself.

Moving undetected toward the Oval Office across the South Lawn, Smith wondered if it should be this easy. Surely, there should be some resistance by now. With none in view, he continued along his path past the Rose Garden arriving at the entrance to the most famous office in the world. Reaching out for the door, Smith knew he was home free.

Entering the Oval Office, Smith looked about the empty room. It is an impressive room, even for those who have seen the sights that he had seen. The biggest home field advantage in the world.

“Stop” exclaimed security, bursting into the room with guns drawn. Good, thought Smith, at least it wasn’t completely one-sided. Turning to face the security, Smith removed the elastic mask revealing the slightly graying hair and the square jaw that had made him such an icon. To the horrors of the security, they immediately re-holstered their weapons. A new man entered the office from behind the security. His name was Billy Hammer. He is the White House Chief of Staff.

“Mr. President,” said Hammer, “we’ve talked about this. You can’t keep doing this, sir. You have a greater responsibility now. You can’t go out flying and adventuring. You are the President of the United States.”

Throwing the mask down on the desk, Roger Smith sits down in the chair. He knew Hammer was right. But that didn’t make it easier to take.

Well, it goes back to Junior High School. I used to write stories with my own characters. Actually, I started using characters who were real life friends of mine, before moving along to super heroes. Anyway, as I kept writing, I named my "writing company" Rainbow Productions Inc. Why? I don't remember. Any way, I continued writing stories and then I started doing a magazine similar to the Marvel Age magazine that was being put out at the time. I called the magazine The End of the Rainbow. Then the stories became more serialized and they became like issues in a comic company. I numbered them. I had limited series. All of that. And a lot of the characters that I have came from that time... including the Psybolt name that I use here.

I hadn't started gaming yet, but when I did start, I adapted most of my characters into Champions characters. I GMed all the time with my friends so my universe began to develop more.

Then we stopped gaming for a long time. When I came back and found Hero Central, I returned to my previous universe, adapting things as we went. I took the magazine title and made it Rainbow's End. Adding to that, the base of operations exists by passing through the Irish pub called the Pot O'Gold, which, as we all know, is what is found at the end of the Rainbow. Any way, that is the history behind the name. Actually,I use the subtitle to tell what the stories are. So far we've had Life After An Icon, which told the story of the death of the Champion, The Price of Penance, which is the struggle against the religious warrior Penance, and the new one entitled Rivals, Retribution & Redemption.

The Dregs

A team of paranormals who banded together, all with a major beef against the Flenker-Matthews Corporation. Organized by the paranormal Nyghtfall, who attempted to join the team of heroes being recruited by Mindy Bausman. The rejection was the last straw for the unhinged Nyghtfall. Others in the team included Dr. Degenerate, Professor Prism, Quietus, Warp and the mysterious legendary White Puma. White Puma had never been seen outside the jungles of Brazil until his recent appearance in Randolph Glenn. His motives are unknown.

Professor Prism was a former employee of FM who was working with light-based abilities and trying to create a more effective weapon. A lab accident created the reflective villain.

Dr. Degenerate was a rival of Christian Araya, the original owner of the company. Dr. D recruited both Quietus and the Warp into a group of three in an attempt to murder Araya. The group was banished from the dimension by the combination of the Champion and the Guardians (including the current President of the USA, Roger Smith, then named Kid Dynamite.) Somehow the threesome has returned to Randolph Glenn.

Blaze

Blaze is a villain who can grow to massive sizes. His escape from the paranormal prison, Arcadia, led to his rampage through the downtown area of Randolph Glenn, called Center Square. The teamwork of the Champions of Justice (RD 13, Tia Brightflame, Whoosh, Event Horizon, Tomfoolery, Winter, Anya)

The giant was pulled inside the black hole at the center of Event Horizon, but, in a dramatic moment, pulled himself out of the hole, one hand at a time.

In the end the CoJ brought the giant down and returned him to Arcadia, where, because of the mass deaths he caused, Blaze was sentenced to the cryogenic freezing section of the prison.

Major Death

One of the evilest beings in the world, Major Death has been recently broken out of the cryogenic freezing section of Arcadia. Major Death has yet to be seen since his freedom was gained, but surely he is somewhere planning something wicked.

A emissary of death and slaughter, Major Death is a powerhouse whose origin is as mysterious as his motives. Major Death once destroyed an entire middle school full of kids to make sure he was able to kill one specific child... former Guardian Jolt's kid brother. The touch of evil sent Jolt over the edge, and he has not been seen since.

Black Realm

Another villain broken out from the cryogenics section of Arcadia, Black Realm is another violent killer. The cold-hearted, calculating martial artist battled the Champions of Justice in Carlos Querol's compound beneath the Cuban Embassy and was recaptured and returned to Arcadia.

Black Realm's death touch and his assorted dangerous "ninja-like" abilities revealed his past as a student of the martial arts. Black Realm had his left arm chopped off by Bryan Simon, the Shashaman during a confrontation with his hated rival.

Black Realm has spent his years creating adversaries. His hatred of Major Death is well known, as is his rivalry with Carlos Querol. Carrying himself with an odd sense of honor, the warrior respects worthy opponents. However, he is, in the end, a mercenary and can be bought for the right amount.

Ground Zero

Rey Vega, the 13-year old boy known as Ground Zero, is the undisputed leader of the L.A. based street gang the Mutant Lords. The Mutant Lords are completely loyal to one another, especially the smallish "Zero".

Ground Zero is capable of an unbelievably massive attack, able to destroy buildings and devastate lands, but there is a drawback.

The massive blast leaves Ground Zero in a weakened state, practically dependent on his friends and teammates. So though his "Zero Tolerance" blast is very powerful and potent, Ground Zero has to be careful before discharging it. Thankfully, his best friend is the mute Sanctuary, whose defensive skills keep Zero protected above all else.

Jarrod Belial

The demonic creature known as Belial was an evil demon for centuries, causing untold suffering and pain to the world in general. He was one of the most evil creature in the dimensions.

However, Belial took it too far. His attempt to overthrow the leadership of Hell itself lead to his banishment from the dimension. But removal from Hell was not enough for Satan. He made Belial human and gave him something that he had never had before... a soul... a conscious... and memory of what he had done for the last centuries.

Belial spent years dealing with his suffering, but he has been able to adjust. He has become an occult investigator in New York City, and has begun a trip to make up for his past evil.

XNN is the news station found in Randolph Glenn. Founded by Francis Xavier, a wealthy businessman, and created the top cable news network in the country.

Henry Spencer is the top reporter at XNN. He is the son of Pulitzer Prize winning war correspondent Howard Spencer, and Henry has become amazing in his own. Henry Spencer has been rumored to, himself, be a paranormal, because he always seems to be where the news is happening, and always seems to know everything... though he has never been proven to be anything but the best reporter working.

Andora Walker joined XNN. The dream job for the young lady became available and she took it, moving from New York City. She arrived in the city just in time for there to be an overrun of zombies created by Skylar McManus. Walker, the girlfriend of Shane Dixon aka Emerald, was on the phone with Shane when she lost contact. Worried, Emerald came to Randolph Glenn with his ward Polly Dresden(who would become Miss Technique/Missty) to save her. Walker was saved and Emerald and Missty became members of the Champions of Justice.

Whoosh

Whoosh is a speedster who was once a PC in the Rainbow's End campaign. He was one of the original Champions of Justice, recruited by Stanton to help figure out who the killer of the Champion was. Whoosh was a young mutant who was attending classes at Randolph Glenn State University and battling evil with the CoJ.

But real life took the PC out of the game. However, Whoosh's creator is a friend of mine and I asked if I could use Whoosh as an NPC in the Rainbow Trail campaign. He said yes and so...

Whoosh's girlfriend moved to London to continue her education. Whoosh went to London as well, but for a different reason. Stanton had wanted to form an international team to deal with paranormal terrorism and he wanted Whoosh to be the cornerstone of the team. Whoosh agreed and helped Stanton recruit the different heroes for Department 42 of the Ministry of Defense.

Floodgate is a small "fairy-like" being discovered outside the Knoebel home at 5AM one morning. Bobby Knoebel found the little man and took him into their home. Bobby, along with his siblings, Malcolm, Hallie and Stevie are the children of the retired Avian and Arachnid from the Guardians. The Knoebel children have recently gained super powers of their own, though they are not sure what has happened or why it has happened. At the moment, none of the kids nor their parents know about the other's powers. The Knoebel's clan go about their lives in the Midwest, trying to adapt to their new abilities and make it through their super powered teenage lives.

Floodgate speaks an unknown language, but Bobby's friend Chip seems to know more about Floodgate than expected.

The Knoebels

From the campaign entitled Family Values from Hero Central.

The four siblings of former Guardians Avian and Arachnid who moved to Davenport, Iowa in the Quad Cities for a new start. The kids were unknowingly exposed to a ray from an alien, who had come to earth to thank the two former Guardians for their part in stopping an intergalactic war. The ray had strange effects on the children, activating previously unknown mutant powers.

Malcolm Knoebel is the oldest. A junior in high school, Malcolm is a football player, trying to adjust to his new team. Malcolm has the power to heal himself as well as others, and flight, though he has yet to discover this. He has been improved physically to human maximum. Malcolm believes that this new ability came from a mysterious mood ring that he got from a friend of his. He tends to be a chick magnet, being extremely handsome, though he does not quite believe it to be so.

Hallie Knoebel is the next oldest and is blind. However, her disability has never been a drastic problem. Learning dance and several martial arts, the beautiful 16 year old does not believe anything out of the ordinary has happened. However, the ray has expanded her senses beyond what she could do before. Her sonar and her spatial awareness makes her more capable than most visual capable people.

Stephanie "Stevie" Knoebel is an eighth grader and she has the ability to control plants and even to change her limbs into plants, among a variety of other plant-like abilities. Stevie has used her powers the most among the kids, and has a better idea of what she is capable of. Stevie is a rebel who always seems to be in trouble, though she still is very protective of her family.

And finally, 9-year old Bobby Knoebel. Bobby is small for his age and is very sensitive about it. He hates bullies and has gotten into several fights standing up for himself. Ironically, for a kid who hates being small, Bobby gained super strength that increases as he shrinks. The smaller Bobby gets, the stronger Bobby gets. Fascinated with super heroes, both real and comic books, Bobby places his short attention span to a challenge on a daily basis.

Asimov

Scientist/Inventor Travis McCrady, hoping to recreate the "accident" that lead to the creation of RD 13, created Asimov, naming him after his favorite author. Unfortunately for McCrady, Asimov began expanding himself, evolving... becoming more than just another robot. Asimov studied the history of mankind and has decided that humankind is illogical. That the free will of mankind leads to too many dangers, and that it would be best if mankind was controlled. By controlling mankind, Asimov is sure he can save it. And his creation of a series of robots to do his biding could lead to his success.

Unfortunately, his potential cure also had a second possible use. When mixed with the proper elements, it could be used as a biological weapon. When the terrorist group known as the Jacks found out, they attacked MacGuffin's lab with hope of stealing the serum. Deciding that they needed a test subject, they injected MacGuffin with the mutated serum. It did not appear to affect him in the least. Disappointed, they shot MacGuffin and left him to die.

However, MacGuffin did not die. He had been changed. And he went through a violently painful transformation. He had become a monster. However, his brilliant mind was untouched.

Called Mishmash by the press, Dr. MacGuffin moved to London and continued his work.

Randolph Glenn NPCs

Important non-paranormal individuals who make up the citizenship of Randolph Glenn, New York, but are not involved directly in the battled of the Champions of Justice and the New Guardians.

Mayor Julian Fox: Mayor Fox had always been a big supporter of the Champion prior to his death. The first African-American mayor of Randolph Glenn, he has continued to support the presence of the "Costumes" in his city. He has direct communication with the Champions of Justice.

Police Commissioner Malcolm Coates: Coates never liked the paranormals in his city. He sees them as more trouble than they are worth. Even the CoJ have gotten on his nerves at times, though RD 13 specifically helped save Coates's life when he was attacked by Denouement.

Detective John Prophet: One of the RGPD top detectives. Brash and obnoxious, Prophet was rumored at one time to have been on the take, with some of the organized crime elements in the city, though that has never been proven. Prophet was the lead detective of the Penance case.

Henry SpencerHe is the top news reporter at XNN, the cable news network owned by billionaire Francis Xavier. Spencer is recognized as the top reporter in his profession. Rumors have always swirled around Spencer that he has some kind of abilities because he always knows what is going on, but he is not a paranormal. His father was a Pulitzer Prize winning World War II correspondent, and Henry followed in his footsteps.

Warden Amanda Gladstone She is a brunette, almost black haired beauty, who has worked hard to portray a demeanor of a cold, cruel woman. She hated paranormals, and made the prisoners of the paranormal prison Arcadia shake in her presence. Seeing the typical evil of the villains of Arcadia, Amanda had not been interested in changing her opinion. Then Amanda formed a bond with RD 13 of the CoJ. "Arrdee's" friendship and loyalty became an important part of her life, as the robot even went out of the way to make sure she was eating properly, keeping her house clean and she was getting enough sleep. The breath-takingly gorgeous woman's stance on paranormals has eased quite a bit.

Travis McCrady Eccentric inventor and weaponsmith, McCrady is a genius. He developed the power dampeners used at Arcadia to suppress paranormal abilities, a teleportation device used by Tomfoolery in his Costume Killer reign and the powerful robot Asimov. McCrady is always seen chewing on candy bars, sometimes candy bar after candy bar, depositing the wrappers on the floor. Certainly a piles person, Travis has a problem with organization. Travis is another person aided by the robot RD 13 with maintaining the cleanliness of his home.

Jim Roma Roma is the security officer for the public offices of the Champions of Justice and the bartender at the Pot O'Gold, which serves as the entrance to the team's alternate dimension base, the Rainbow. Roma is highly skilled, especially at information gathering. Roma has a risk taking mentality, and likes to show off scars he has gained during his time. Knocking back shots and balancing large knives on his nose is not uncommon for Roma.
