I noticed that the Ultimate Metamorph book is currently uncertain. I would like to find out if this book should be made or if it would only be a waste of time and resources on the part of Heros and DOJ. As part of your response I would like you to include a reponse stating reasons for your prefernce.

I wouldn't mind an "Ultimate Metamorph" book. Frankly, Multiforms have always given me headaches, so a book helping simplfy that might be worth it alone ;)

It would also be interesting to see shapeshifters and how they're seen/used in most genres (Ever notice in Sci Fi, they often seem to be the bad guy races? *G*)

Every book has its built in fan base I guess, and if I had absolutely nothing else to read that week I might pick up the Ultimate Metamorph. The problem is that a metamorph either (a) turns into other stuff, or (b) manifests standard powers with a funky special effect. The stuff he turns into is better covered in The Bestiary / Ultimate Vehicle / Ultimate Robot / Ultimate Giant Stay Puff Marshmallow Man / Whatever. The standard powers stuff already got covered in USPDB, with more info scatered in other books. So while I could see the use of an Ultimate Metamorph, I'd put it at the bottom of the list as far as useful books are concerned. YMMV and all that.

This book would rate very highly on the “Why Did They Make This Book” category. After all shape changing powers are already covered in other books (USPD, Grimore). I would probably still buy the book because I am anal and need to have access to all the new rules but I would not be happy about it nor would I encourage my friends to buy it. I like to see books with as much new and “CrUnChY” stuff as possible. There are so many other books they have lined up that I would prefer getting my hands on over this type of book anyways.

This is actually a big reason I was getting mad at the Palladium Books lines. They reprint and recover the same thing over and over again denying us of good new material. (After all how many books need to have the stats for vampires in them?) Every new book they release is either farly small or has at least 60 pages worth of reprinted cut and paste garbage which most of the time they don’t even take the time to fix there own errata released on the original material when they reprint it. (I better stop now or I could go on for hours.)

I think this could be a wonderful idea, depending on your definition of metamorph. If the book covered the full gamut from stretchers to werewolves to Transformers to mimics, I say go for it. If it's going to be just one of the above types, it might be a bit limited.

Next to speedster, I think shapeshifting of some sort is the most hotly debated general group of powers for how-tos and ideas. It would be nice to have a common set of guidelines, if not direct rules, to work with.

You just reminded me, I can't find my Palladium book of weapons, armor, and castles! seems to be out of print, back to the 3-4 small books to cover the same fields. :(
