Hey Folks,

I'm using HERO Designer v3 to build a character and for some reason I cannot get the contents of the "Display" Box to show up on the actual pane in HERO Designer, nor when I export the character when I use Combat Skill Levels.

For Instance, I've got a skill which adds +4 to my DCV and has an IAF. I enter into the Display box: Blind Luck (Combat Skill Levels) because I want the Skill to Display as

Blind Luck (Combat Skill Levels) +4 with DCV; IAF (-1/2).

But all I ever see is the +4 with DCV; IAF (-1/2). I tried entering it the information I wanted into the Name box as well as the Display box, and that causes the Name Box Contents to show up in the HERO Designer, but it won't export either. All I ever see on my Sheet is just +4 with DCV; IAF (-1/2).

I'd like to be able to tell that the +4 is from my ability when the sheet is printed out. Can anybody offer assistance?

You would have to manually edit the contents of the 'skill level type' box to get your desired result.

example:

where HD normally shows: +4 with DCV
change it to: Blind Luck +4 with DCV

I can edit the with DCV part so that it will show +4 (whatever I type here) but I can't seem to find a way of adding text before the +4 that will display.

Ahh...

It looks like the only way to change THAT order would be to manually edit the final output of the RTF export.

Ah, It's not that big of a deal. Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it.

One common way of handling this is to put "Blind Luck" in the Name field and make sure that the export format is outputting the Name field for the given type of ability.

If I remember correctly, a lot of export formats do not output the Name Field for Skills but do print it for Powers, so if you enter "Blind Luck" as a Power, the Name field should appear in the exported file.

I don't believe he's referring to the powers display but rather the Combat Information block at the top of most exports.
(but yeah, if he's adding limitations to a skill he should be doing it under the powers tab in Hero Designer).
