Hiya,

I've got a character who has armor that is OIF Clothing. Suggest for me some ways to simulate the fact that it's rarely the same outfit. Special Effect. Do I just have her wearing a different outfit and write it off as a special effect that it's a different outfit with the same properties?
Images. Just buy images for it with a focus and the set effect that it just changes the look of the clothing?
Variable Effect Advantage. Some sort of advantage? 5pt duplicate foci. This could get expensive to cover an entire wardrobe.
Thanks in advance.

Here, try this on...

Shapeshift (Sight Group; Additional Sense Group: Touch Group, Variety of Shapes: Limited Group of Shapes), Reduced Endurance 0 END (+1/2), Persistent (+1/2) (46 Active Points); Only affects Clothing (Power loses almost all of its effectiveness, -2), IAF Expendable (Extremely Difficult to obtain new Focus; -1 1/2) Total Cost: 10

It seems that the response demands a couple of clarifications.

Can she change her clothing at will? If so, this seems like Instant Change (Transform power) or Shape Shift using the focus.

Or does she just always have the focus on and it looks like different clothes every day? If so, this looks like a special effect to me. The focus is not obvious in this case, though.

In my mind, if it really has no game effect (the latter example), then this should be a special effect. If it is potentially useful (the former example) then I would require a point expenditure.

Depends. Does it really have any game effect, for example, can the character make it a fancy dress when needing to get into the swanky party, then tough street clothes afterword when walking the back alleys, then (etc.).

If so, I'd slap Variable Special Effects at the +1/4 level.

Or, as mentioned earlier, Instant Transform (FREd, p.152)

If not, it's SFX, no points necessary.

No real game effect other than having something different on. It's purely cosmetic. It's sounding like "special effect" is the general opinion. To have a different version of the outfit she'd have to go home to her wardrobe (it's not instant).
