Looking to update Power Crusher from Classic Enemies...any comments on what you would improve or change? I'm thinking of uping his Multipower..and making some of the slots usable simultaneously on two or more characteristics at once. Anyone else have ideas for updating him...or comments on how they did update him? Need him for my next game session.

Thanks,
Rob

I have no idea why you'd say that....

A ranged attack would be a plus.

I never liked the guy. He seems so...generic and just an excuse to hang as many Adjustment powers on one character as possible. I mean, I understand he's something of an homage to characters like Parasite but he felt so...bland. Leech was too but seemed more interesting in background, appearance and role play.

Just me I guess.

I liked him, he was in our Legion of Scrubs (Bulldozer, Occolon, Freon, and a couple of other losers, sometimes led by Foxbat)

Never hurts to have a Legion of Super Thugs handy.

I always felt the Ultimates was the "League of Losers," compensating with a grandiose name. ;)

How about giving Power Crusher some Absorption, so he doesn't need to touch a victim to gain power from him? That would also make just standing off and blasting him from a distance a less ideal strategy.

OTOH turning some of his Drains into Damage Shields would make him a nastier customer HTH.

With some of the costume color choices from those early Enemies books, I sometimes wonder if any of their creators actually bothered to draw them out to see what they looked like.

I can not remember.
Was his costume really that garish ?
I remember a black and white picture in forth Edition and Classic Enemies.
But I can not remember the color descriptions.....

Maybe they were going for a more garish/vibrant late 70s/early 80s comic look?

If you really want to blow the budget point wise but Power Crusher really nasty..turn his Drains into Offensive Dmg Shields...

Edit: If I went this route I'd keep him somewhat resasonable I'd probably get the Offensive part of the power with some sort of limitation like extra endurance and it would require reasonable contact so you could safely hit with a weapon and thick artifical armor/force fields and certain sfx would block his abilities.

Well, right now I'm looking at the cover of Enemies III, particularly the first color version of Mechassassin on the left. IMHO whatever comics era you're dealing with, that's just laughable.

Do you have copy of the cover in .jpg form? I haven't seen it.

And yeah, that is a bit eye straining.

Well...in fairness....beyond Mechassassin's color scheme, the cover isn't bad.

Aside from that and Red Rapier's bare torso, I agree. The composition isn't bad, it has a strong sense of action, and several of the characters look pretty sharp.

I kind of liked him for the 'tactical' effect. The people most likely to try to deal with him, at least the first time, were going to be the bricks and martial artists (at least, in my experience; people tend to do 'like powers on like' as rookies), and that usually wound up disastrous. The second or third time, the bricks/martial artists give him a wide berth and let the energy projectors and mentalists deal with him.

This is why I used some of the XP he earned to give him a bigass ranged attack (with, admittedly, limited charges). Caught everybody off guard.

I think he was pushed off as Herculan has his same basic schtick as a near-brick with Adjustment powers, and Steve was trying to limit the number of ex-VIPER supervillains.
