I interesting question was raised about buying life support for intense heat and if that would stop a dragons breath or not.
Seems a little cheap for such a gain but does start one's gears a grinding

RTFM.
"A character with a Safe Enviroment Life Support does not take damage from that type of enviromental condition, or from a Change Enviroment which creates that condition. However, he still takes damage from attacks with that special effect, due to the sudden system shock." FREd, p 128

It's good for walking through the forest fire but not for duking it out with the Fire breathing Dragon.

Hmmmm. For a hot enough forest fire, wouldn't some type of breathing life support be needed, or can humans subsist on what oxygen remains when the fire is that hot? Smoke and other particulate matter might also be problematic.

I think the breating hot gases would be covered with the LS- Intense Heat, at least it would be in my game. :P

I wasn't talking about the temp of the gas, just the lack of oxygen in it. And the prevalence of particulate matter. For instance, I would not let LS: Intense Heat stop you from smothering in dust during a dust storm. Smoky environments are a very big killer in most fires, many times moreso than the flames.

And in a hot forest fire, smoke and particulates go upward at truely amazing speeds and oxygen rich air comes in at ground level. The smoke eaters who fight forest fires all day MAY have a 15 minute emergency oxygen reserve, usually not even that. Lots more circulation than in a burning building.

Still, for the few points spent on LS-Intense Heat, I think its fair to allow the pc to breathe, without forcing them to spend more points on Self Contained breathing, only in Fires or somesuch drek. Especially since its almost always a fire setting in which you are going to find Intense Heat.
Now in a Sci-Fi game, you will get intense heat on the sun side of a starship or vacuum world. Then I would of course require some LS-Breathing of some sort, since the Vacuum is seperate from the heat.
I love science, but there is a line in which it can be too much for game purposes. :P

If the character is going "Gosh, it's hot" (or "Gosh, it's cold" or "Gosh, it's _______") then Life Support protects against it. If the character is going "Oh s**iiiiiiiiit!" then Life Support doesn't protect against it. :)

There's a difference between heat and flame, or indeed, heat and any given source of heat. What we call heat is a byproduct of a chemical reaction that is occuring, not the reaction itself. A character with this advantage could servive in an oven set to 450, but putting their hand into a gas flame on the range would still damage them.

i think you are pulling an old Earthdawn trick "The thing does what it says _Because_ that is what it was named"
Sorry unless the Oven bought an attack "Gas Flame" and actually used the attack at it's speed there would be no damage taken, IMNSHO.
