Will any of the Oregon HEROphiles be going to this event? Apparently the organizers of the ConQuest series of conventions is launching a trial balloon in Oregon (http://www.conquestoregon.com/), holding a con at the Washington County Fairgrounds in Hillsboro in early October.

No word yet on when they'll be taking event submissions or whether anybody wants to run Hero.

The event submission page is now up at Conquest Oregon's website (http://www.conquestoregon.com/). Run six approved events covering six blocks and you get your membership free!

Of course, since I've already paid for my badge I feel all right with being mainly a player. So perhaps someone with Oregon or Southwest Washington credentials can step in and schedule some Hero 6 games and demos.

The deadline for a free badge for GMing has passed (far too quickly in my opinion) but I belive they are still taking events from people who are willing to pay for the privelege of GMing.

I feel bad that I haven't done something sooner -- I've been waiting to see if I would have a copy of 6e in time for the con....

OK, I hate being the only poster in this topic. I need to make a call for help -- I"m looking for pregenrated characters for Hero 6 (one Heoric game and one Champions game) for ConQuest. These characters wil be played by new players in a demo adventure at ConQuest.

Help wanted!

I am hoping to be one of those new players as I am needing to learn the Hero System so I can run it for my group.

I will try and submit a character and would love to see how it plays.

There are two Hero demo games. The first, a Heroic-level fantasy game, is at 2pm on Saturday. The second is a Superheroic game at Sunday at 11:30am. these are officially on the schedule, so I hope that people will show up for them. So bring yourself, bring your friends, bring cookies.

Ironically, a representative of FRED Distribution (http://www.freddistribution.com/control/main) will be there as a guest. It's a company that dsitrbutes high-end boardgames to the trade. I just had to snicker about that, though -- I don't know if he's even aware of the Great Naming Controversy of what are now bygone years.

Sweet I plan on making both games, since it will help to play and learn the system.

I look forward to meeting my local Heros.

See you guys there!

I'm trying to figure out where the gang from the hero boards should meet Saturday at about noon so that we can head en masse to food. I'm open to advice on that point, and I've already written Chris about it.

I'm also going to post to a couple of the local mailing lists to hopefully scare up more players. I have a lot of experience with games where nobody showed up -- those aren;t much fun.

(EDIT: I think my message to the main such list in Portland was moderated away, which is frustrating no end. I didn't see it shoot back to me, nor have I heard anything from the moderators saying "don't post this". Weird.)

If a plan is formed I would love a copy :)

I'm just trying to plan how to get to the County Fairgrounds where the con is being held. The Tri-Met trip plans (local bus/light rail system) are nightmarish -- taking up to two hours to get within two-tenths of a mile of the place. I really wish I knew someone going who could give me a lift -- especially since Sunday will probably be even worse.

I can give you a ride. I live in Tigard and plan on being there both days.

Just email me at lordkangarew@gmail.com

Thanks for the offer.

Two days left before the start of the con. I'm looking forward to this and a bit nervous at the same time.

Tomorrow, tomorrow, I.... well, you get the idea.

If anyone else from the board plans to go, we're still trying to plann a hero gathering for noon Saturday.

Michael, I'm sorry the gathering didn't work out. I hope the pizza helped make up for it. The game went well, I thought. And it turned out we didn't end up needing the books at all, amazingly.

No, thank you fro helping out, both with the pizza (which was yummy, thanks) and with the portions of the rules I wasn't so good at explaining (STUN Mutliplier in particular).

It's a shame the Champions demo didn't quite come off, but Saturday was probably the better day for the con all told. Although lordkangarew had no trouble filling an impromptu pathfinder adventure Sunday -- which I suppose says something about the popularity of "D&D 3.75" at this particular moment.

I'm hoping next time I go to a game convention I'll have the books. Of course, that's going to be in March probably -- if the books aren't here by then we've got real trouble....
