View Full Version : How to Build: Resistant PD and ED

Hello all,

I'm working on converting my race templates to 6E and one of the races originally had 1PD and 1ED assigned as Damage Resistant. Now it is done with the Resistant naked advantage applied to the PD/ED.

I'm still getting the hang of this particularly with Hero designer and I wanted to be sure I did it right. This is how I did it in HD is it correct?

Thick Skin: Resistant (+1/2) for up to 2 Active Points of PD and ED (1 Active Points)
Is there a better way to word it? The way it looks to me is that they can just switch between 2pts of PD or ED as they need it, which isn't the intent at all.

I thought I had a good answer for you by doing it with a list and characteristics as a power, But it doesn't work right because of rounding issues and it doesn't look right to take so much space, this should be a one liner.

Thick Skin
1 1) +1 PD, Resistant (+1/2)
1 2) +1 ED, Resistant (+1/2)

Any better answers?

You could build it as a Compound Power. Then it will display something like:

Thick Skin: Resistant (+1/2) for up to 1 Active Points of PD plus Resistant (+1/2) for up to 1 Active Points of ED
Alternatively, you could stick with the first method and add a note. Then you should get something like:

Thick Skin: Resistant (+1/2) for up to 2 Active Points of PD and ED (1 Active Points)
note: Must be split evenly between PD & ED.

Don't know about HD, but with a pencil I'd list it as something like:

Thick Skin: Resistant for 1 PD, 1 ED (+1/2 on 2 Active Points) [1 Active]

That doesn't leave any question as to which 2 Active points of PD and ED are affected.

Or even sell back PD and ED by one point each in the Characteristics block and list a power:

Thick Skin: 1 PD, 1 ED; Resistant (+1/2) [3 Active]

Ya know, this might be the best way to approach this. Thanks

Or if you choose to go the route of reducing the PD and ED by 1:

3 Resistant Protection (1 PD/1 ED)

Which has the advantage of being on one line.

Technically PD and ED are separate and you can't buy 1PD/1ED as one Power with the same Advamtage. It would be 2pts for 1PD; Resistant and 1ED; Resistant. Or as the Resistant Protection as Rod said.

Ah. I've never let that get in my way, but okay. :p ;)

True on the Resistant Protection, but note that that is not considered PD and ED for purposes such as Adjustment Powers.

This is true on the Adjustment Powers - and I've never let Technicalities really get in my way either.

Just thought I'd point it out, just in case the OP wants to stay as RAW as possible.
