I need help coming up with a name for a character I have had in my head all day. All suggestions appreciated.
This character has been active for a few years as a gadgeteer/martial artist. Always considered (even by himself) as a second-string superhero. Recently, during his latest battle with Dr. Alchemus, he was accidentally injected with nano-tech performance enhancers. These have raised all his physical characteristics to slightly super-human levels (25-35 range for most). Now, he is finally first-string, and ready to take on the baddest of the bad.
Personality: DC's Blue Beetle, but more serious than he's currently portrayed.
Powers: Martial Arts, gadgets, super-human physical abilities.
Fighting-Style: Acrobatic and non-lethal.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

While he sounds too modest to come up with these himself, perhaps something related to his now greater than the top nature?
Zenith
Apex
Pinacle
Does he have a theme? That would also affect things (In a "Blue Beetle" style).

For some reason, the name that popped to mind was Mr. Wonderful. That was the nickname of wrestler Paul Orndorff, but I think it sprang into my head because of Mr. Terrific (Terry Sloan version). The character sounds like a real all-rounder, just as he was.
However, it's a bit of an egotistical name, so maybe that won't suit.
Do his gadgets have any theme? Does his costume have one? Is there a dominant colour? Do you want a serious name, or would a semi-serious one do (eg Blue Blazer)? What martial arts style(s) does he use? What ethnicity is he? How old? Any strong personality traits other than the ones you've mentioned (such as curiosity or a rather enigmatic manner)? Any particular hobbies or interests (such as chess, detective novels, ballroom dancing)?

You see, I type out all those questions and Hermit nips in and beats me to the punch.

Well, yes, but your question about it was more detailed.
Despite what Kinetik might think, speed isn't everything ;)

If the character's main theme is being the peak of human perfection, how about something like "Olympian". Or maybe "The Spartan". You could then use a Greco-Roman theme for his gadgets. A motorized chariot, an armor-piercing javelin, etc.

Boomerang. With those stats and abilities, he's always coming back for more somehow, often through a fancy or indirect attack of some sort.

Oh, and don't put Captain in front of my last suggestion, just remembered that - was thinking to myself "why is this familiar?" and then it struck

Don't forget the Marvel Boomerang. Dig that purple and blue costume with the boomerangs stuck to it. He took down the Hulk with a reflexerang (or something), once.

A technology-based character who's recently been upgraded with performance enhancers, huh? So, how about "Turbo"?

"he was accidentally injected with nano-tech performance enhancers"
How about Nano-Man? Ok, sounds silly, but ti would be accurate. ;)

When I have trouble thinking of a name I usually fall to an old technique.
1. Take the name of your first pet and make that your first name.
2. Take the maiden name of your mother as your last name.
While this technique is typically used to figure out your adult film name, I have found it quite fun to use for Champions as well.:p

Cutie Laite....???? Yeah, that could work...for a porn star.
Edited - no, actually now I remember we got Cash before Cutie - Cash Laite isn't so good for ANY name (except maybe a gambler)

Waldemar Sans. Our first family pet was a Dachshund. :)
Hmm. Doesn't sound like a porn star or superhero name to me...

Well, Trixie Duchess would work for a porn star. Or maybe a super-hero.

Maybe we should give GenreFiend a link to the old "Porn HERO" thread. ;)

Good call, Lord Liaden.
GenreFiend hasn't got back to us yet. Maybe after the weekend there will be some progress.
Thought of a couple of synonyms for Zenith, if he wants to go down that route. There's Perihelion and Vertex.

Yeah, hijacking indeed. ANYWAY.... one thing I probably should have mentioned earlier is that he'll still be using the same name he used before the modifications. So, anything playing off his new, superhuman abilities really wouldn't work. I hadn't really thought of giving all his gadgets a "theme," but if I come up with a name that works well with it, then I might. As for javelins, trick arrows, etc., I'm deliberatly avoiding such things. I haven't decided on his costume yet, thinking that a good name would help inspire a costume design. Thanks for most of the input, everyone (the porn names were slightly entertaining, but not really useful. Besides, I think that formula only works with women. If I ever get into adult film-making, I'm going to call myself Buck Naked:D ). Right now, I'm thinking I may go with a generic name like The Blue Avenger. Any other thoughts?

Blue Avenger is fine, but it might help you to avoid something too generic, so you have some ideas about costume and what his gadgets are like, just as you said in your last post.
One thing that came to me even before you opted for something like the Blue Avenger, was the Blue Sphinx. I'm not sure why, but I think it was when I asked if your character was enigmatic.
The "Blue" bit you've opted for yourself and it's a good choice for a hero.
Sphinx because IIRC it was supposed to be very wise as well, so it's suitable for a gadgeteer character. It had the body of a lion, which is perhaps now more appropriate (but could easily have been a name the character used before his transformation).
Sphinx suggests a pharoah-like costume, maybe with a lion design somewhere. You can give his gadgets an Egyptian theme if you want, but I don't think you would have to, if that's taking things too far.

Interesting idea. The Blue Sphinx..... I think I like it. Have to kick around some alternate costume ideas now.........Hmmm, Egyptian...............

I used to play a character similar to this one (minus the gadgets) in a low powered game. I figured he would be a ninja type without being lethal. I called him the Green Ninja. Don't know what you think of being the "Blue Ninja"...

Well, he's a gadgeteer, Martial artist and sees himself as a second stringer?
Blue Sphinx might be too grandiose for his personality.
Perhaps, go even further towards his personality model and call himself the
Blue Scarab?
Many of the "notsureofthemselves" heroes seem to take a rather "harmless" animal name, Scarab would work or Bluebug? But that's really lame,
he could model himself after a police officer and call himself the Blue Knight.

Names can be tricky, if I'm not to late:
1) Prodigal
2) Overwatch (give him a Blue-Beetle type flying vehicle, with super sensors. Or just a pair of binoculars)
3) Futurion (Assumning one of his heightened stats is intelligence)
4) If he has a public ID, give him a "real name". I did that for the old fart superhero in my campaign, it automatically makes the players respect him more.
5) Mister Gadget:)

Some of the suggestions for names have been good but off the mark. The original post stated that the character was ready to go first-string and take on the baddest of the bad. I was thinking about the Blue Sentinel or Blue Centurion. Those are names for first-string players. Also liked the idea of the Blue Sphinx but have a hard time relating the character concept stated to an Egyptian theme.

You say that the character has martial arts and uses gimmicks as well ? How about "An Chi" ? This is a Chinese martial art that relies on hidden weapons and is well described in *The Ultimate Martial Artist". As others have asked, does the character have a "theme" or a particular coloured costume ? Either of these could be used to conjure a name (e g :The Jester who dresses in a medieval jester outfit and uses non lethal weapons such as itching powder, laughing gas and a "joy buzzer" to incapacitate or humiliate his opponents).
