Am I going insane?

I just updated HeroDesigner (Build 20090907) and now I can't find the Dice Roller.

The version I was running before (sorry can't remember which Build that was and can't check now since I installed the new version over top of my old version) had a dice roller tool in the Tools menu. I found that quite handy for my PBEM game for times when I needed to roll more dice than I had near my computer. (since I updated to Vista I haven't been able to find a good die roller to replace the ones I had before that Vista refuses to run so I have been using the on in HD).

Was the dice roller removed in some previous update? Or has it been moved some place that I can't find? Do I need to change a configuration setting in HD to get he dice back? Or is there something weird happening and the dice roller has disappeared in my program for some reason?

It was removed in a previous update -- the person who had been coding it has gone "dark" for some time now....and the functionality really didn't fit too well with the core functionality of HD.

You can pull down the dice roller that it was based off of from Hero Central -- it's entirely JavaScript driven, so just saving the page locally and opening it will work just fine.

Pity as it really worked nice for me.

The dice roller on Hero Central is great. But I liked being able to click a few toggles to get the configuration I wanted instead of typing (or copy and pasting) in the various commands to roll dice. Especially the more complex ones like explosions or doing a bunch of them at the same time. The visual aspect of them was also fairly satisfying. A couple clicks here and there to get an attack roll with OCV and DCV modifiers kicked in, separate hit location roll, and so on was really nice.

I guess I'll have to readjust to using the Hero Central dice roller. Or dig around my backups and see if I happened to back up my HeroDesigner folder with one of the versions that had the dice roller in it. Then run two versions of HD on my system, one to house the more up to date version and another just to run the dice roller.

It is still available by itself as a download.

Thread talking about it:

Link to the actual Java program.

I just run it by itself. If you have the .jar file type properly associated with java, you should be able to just double click on it after you save it somewhere.
