One thing that I hoped to see in the new rules is the "rapid" modifier for sense groups changed.
In my humble opinion I think this should be altered into a more expensive modifier for the character's brain (or whatever the character uses for thinking).
The reason for this is that even though your eyes or ears (or whatever sense you could make up) might need some special type of mechanism for percieving the world swifter than everyone else, I find it more logical that the character's brain needs to analyze what the character perceives much faster.
Therefore I argue that one should buy rapid for the computing source of the character (i.e. character's brain), rather than buying rapid for every sense the character wants to be able to use in a swifter manner.
I realize that this means that rapid becomes much more powerful, but as I think this is more logical I move forward with my claim.
Also, when your "brain" becomes swifter, that probably would lead to frustration due to the fact that you can perceive the world
around you very fast, even though your body cannot match the speed of thought. This, in my opinion, would call for an initial
END cost for rapid, meaning that you generally need to concentrate to think faster, thus, the frustration wouldn't be that great
as your thoughts are in need of fuel, you can cope with the fact that you cannot act as fast as you think.
Therefore, my suggestion is to pay the cost for two sense groups, thus 10 pts per x10 rapid, and add the limitation costs END -1/2,
which gives us a total cost of 7 pts per x10 rapid.

This is just a suggestion, but I guess that's what this forum is for. :sneaky:
What say you?

Actually that's not what the Rules Questions forum is for. ;) That forum's for rules questions -- not for discussion of rules concepts, since only I can respond there. So, I've moved it to the Discussion board, where no doubt other Herophiles will chime in. :hex:

What you say makes sense, but I suppose if you wanted to buy 'Rapid' for your brain you'd do it by buying 'Rapid' for ALL your senses: it would certainly be more expensive, and would then simulate a fast brain (and receptors 'fast' enough to feed it data).

Arguably there should be a sliding scale of cost for the same adder on different senses because buying (say) Rapid for your eyes AND taste/smell is probably not twice as useful as having it for just one sense. Still as it is, you need it for each sense separately unless your GM allows you to buy it as a naked adder, which you could then buy with an END cost to activate (or switch between senses) - this would simulate a fast brain but one that needs to concentrate on one particular input at a time.

Personaly I would have liked to see senses split between senses and modifiers, and then make modifiers into power modifiers, so telescopic might be x10 = +1/4 advantage. Same with Rapid...but that is just me.
