Hi there, I've just recently upgraded from v2 to v3 (build 20091001), and have hit a bug during character creation using the 6ed rules:

Much (but not all) of the time, when I edit a power (e.g. changing stretching from 1m to 8m) the power still shows up with the original description, e.g. as "Stretching 1m". Interestingly, at some point (after adding both Stretching and a HTH attack, the Stretching took on the label of the HTH attack. i.e. when in edit mode it said stretching, and in either mode it showed Stretching's Cost...but when not editing Stretching it displays as:
Hand-To-Hand Attack +5d6 (25 Active Points); Hand-To-Hand Attack (-1/4), Always Direct Power does not work in Uncommon Circumstances (-1/4)

I haven't taken more time to attempt to isolate the critical conditions, but have attached an .hdc file that reproduces the problem for me.

Let me know if you have further questions.

Thanks,
Jeff

Not a bug, it's a new feature (just waiting on the revised documentation).

Double-clicking on the power text (the center column) will change the display into a text field, allowing for direct editing of the power's output. When you make such an edit, you're telling HD to display things the way you want them, rather than how HD wants to display them, so changes to the ability will have no effect (since you've told HD not to change the text). The text will be colored blue to indicate that this has happened.

To revert to the default text (what HD thinks should display), edit the output and delete everything -- that will tell HD to ignore any edits and put in the normal display.

To edit an ability rather than the display text, either click the edit button or double click on the right or left columns (cost or END....whatever's easiest).

First, it's cool that you added a feature to allow the display text to be edited. That should be useful in several situations.

To revert to the default text (what HD thinks should display), edit the output and delete everything -- that will tell HD to ignore any edits and put in the normal display.

However this feels a tad klunky from a UI perspective. How about adding to the right-click context menu on the center column a menu item like "Revert Display Text"? This feels a bit smoother to me, something the user might naturally try themselves before posting a help request. You might also add "Edit Display Text" which does the same thing as a double click.

There's no reason to remove the current functionality. It makes no sense to display nothing, so you might as well revert.

Just a couple of off the wall thoughts...

Is there anyway to turn this off?

No.
