OK, everyone, how much do you think normal Senses that weren't Inherent (say, a robot's) would be worth as a Disadvantage? I think it's safe to say it'd be an Uncommon circumstance for this weakness to come up, but how limiting would it be (I'm inclined to think either Greatly or Fully)? -- Pteryx

(OTOH, I'd probably require at least some of a robot's PD/ED to be bought Inherent. After all, how do you Dispel, Drain, or Suppress something happening to be made of metal?)

Are our senses inherent? Humans naturally have 6" running and some level of BOD, but it can all be drained. Non-inherent seems to be the default, as a rule.

Um...with magnetic, electrical, EMP or some radiation effects...why do you ask?

Just go backwards on the "Duration Advantages". If the senses aren't inherent, use -1/4. If they aren't persistent, an additional -1/2. The simplest answer is usually the best.

As a Disadvantage, it's probably be a Physical Limitation (Infrequently, Greatly) worth 10 points. It's rare I see someone actually Drain a sense, and it's usually the result of SFX drains (like all tech powers). If the robot would be attacked more frequently with EMPs and such, it might be considered Frequently, but I'd rule Frequently as at least once every other adventure he gets his senses zapped.

I would say that it's not worth anything....it's not limiting the character in any way.

How much are you using your senses when you're unconscious?

About the only thing it does is open the character up to Drains and Suppresses (Flashes are already applicable). The chances of running into a Drain or Suppress for a given sense (instead of a Flash) are negligible....and the effect is the same as a Flash (pretty much), so the net disadvantage/limitation is nill.

Call it a -0 Limitation or a 0-point Disad, if you want.....

Hence why I was thinking that those would constitute Transforms instead...

dsimon, setting up Drains was exactly what I was thinking of; it'd be more potent than a Flash because a Flash wouldn't last so long compared to a Drain. In fact, that's probably precisely what the normal rule is trying to prevent. (Suppress also has uses, but not so many since Darkness already covers most.)

Anyway, in a normal campaign I might agree with you, but I'm considering this as a mandatory Disadvantage for robots in a setting where sapient robots are actually rather common... thus, it'd actually be possible, however unlikely, that you'd run into this situation. -- Pteryx

How about super-cooling that metal until it is brittle? That could easily return at 5pts/turn....
