Greetings,

after completing a read of the character creation section of APG, I realized that IMO it includes several rules additions that in various ways improve Hero character creation, and typically do not directly contradict or alter but expand or supplement 6th. ed. rulebook rules. As such, their inclusion in HD ought to improve the usefulness of the program, well beyond the somewhat tiresome and roundabout option of creating them as custom modifications.

However, given the officially optional nature of such rules, I wished to open up a bit of discussion and hopefully raise some consensus about thier usefulness in HD, before laying an official request for their feature inclusion in HD. From what I heard from SL, it is the HD programmers' choice whether to include APG rules in HD or not.

I've compiled a list of such rules, ordered according to my rough opinion of their general usefulness:

Long-Term Control Advantage (for Mind Control), p. 108-109
Variable Special Effects Advantage (for Adjustment Powers and Dispel), p. 55
Dismissable Adder (for Barrier, Entangle, and Mind Control), p. 81
Affects Porous Adder (for Telekinesis), p. 123
Additional Areas of Effect Advantages, p. 134
Multiple Special Effects Advantage, p. 138-139
Possession Power, pp. 74-77
Selective Desolidification Advantage (for Desolidification), p. 90
Projection Advantage (for Desolidification), p. 92
Other Universal Talents, pp. 49-50
Increased Return Rate Limitation (for Adjustment Powers), p. 56
Proportional Advantage/Limitation, p.139-140
Delayed Endurance Cost Advantage, p. 140
Deep Mental Shift Adder (for Shape Shift), p. 115
Deterioration Limitation (for Barrier and Entangle), p. 144
Expanded Accidental Change Complication, p. 148

Personally, I would like to see any options that add to - but do not contratdict, alter or adjust - the Base Rules, in HD. The list above is a solid list, I hope Dan considers most or all of them at some point.

That's the main criteria I normally use.

If it's an additional Modifier or Adder that can be used or ignored at the player/GM's discretion, then I tend to add them in.

If you're talking about modifications/additions to an existing Modifier (frex: AOE options), then it depends on the specifics and the circumstances....generally revolving around the specificity of those expansions. If the new options are meant to be available anytime the Modifier is available (as in AOE), then I tend to add them in. If the new options are meant to only be available in certain, specific instances of a parent Power construction (frex: +3/4 level of "Takes No Damage From Attacks" for a Mental Entangle), then I tend to leave those for Custom Modifiers.

I for one would like to see the Expanded Growth option (table pg. 101)applied. I think a bit more granularity could be useful since the differences between each size category (cost and mechanics) is rather significant.

To give answers on some of these (as I work on them)...

Long-Term Control: Not going to be implemented for now due to a varying cost structure and issues with the display (very verbose text, which is going to need to wait on the WG to be updated).

Variable Special Effects: Not going to be implemented, as it is only applicable to a specific type of Power with a specific structure in place (requires Variable Effect Advantage as well as an Adjustment Power). Use a custom Modifier for this.

Dismissable: in for the next update.

Affects Porous: in for the next update.

AOE options: some will be added, others will not (due to conflicts with the existing structure/calculations).

In general, I prefer that people avoid making "laundry list" posts like this -- it makes it difficult to track status. Use the Project Tools forum and put each request in its own "Feature Request" thread.

OK. I know I'm going to feel like a dummy for this, but what is a "WG" that needs to be "updated?"

I understand your reasons on the other features, but Dismissable, Affects Porous, and some AOE options in next update are more than good enough for me (I really hope that Dismissable is made an Adder for Entangle and Mind Control in addition to Barrier, as APG suggested, it is very useful for all three Powers). Thanks a lot. My apologies for making a laundry list, but I wanted to check which of these features met some other fans' interest beside mine, before I would clutter the Project Tools forum with a dozen Feature Requests at once.

AOE options: some will be added, others will not (due to conflicts with the existing structure/calculations).Where do Sight Range and Voice Range fall in this? (Other than Trail, these are the ones I'm most interested in. I'd also like to be able to "build" Smell Range, but I'm not sure how feasable that would be....)
