I'm mixed. There's definitely some great stuff in here: performance, campaign settings, UI improvements, etc. Plus, combat records will make a huge difference. What I think is missing is the ability to easily distribute character template changes; people who want to make any significant changes still need to be able to edit the template file on their own.

I modified a heroic templet for FH adding various martial arts, couple talents and a new disadvantage.
I thought it was quite simple, although I could see a brief explaination of the process in the PDF for V2.

Making a graphical template editor is something that I would like to do (one day), but it's not going to be happening for a LONG time (think v3). There's a tremendous amount of work involved in that.
I don't think that the template editing process is terribly difficult as it currently stands, especially considering the hierarchical nature of the templates in v2.
As for distribution of changes, Ben's going to be setting up areas in the Free Stuff section of this site for hosting v2 template files and the like....which will be linked through the app itself. I'm not sure what more you could really want...

One simple thing: right now you can't alter the hierarchy without text-editing the template files. That alone greatly restricts the number of people who will ever use anything other than one extra layer of hierarchy.

That's correct...and anything more is going to require getting into a graphical template editor (see above). That's not something that I'm ready (or willing) to do at this point.
It will happen eventually, but not for v2.

I just upgraded from 1.47 to 2.0.22 and have no export templetes. How do I convert them to the new version? I mean I would like to print characters I make if you don't mind.

Try going to Files|Preferences and change the character template and export directories. See if that helps any.

What we need is someone who's a vim or emacs guru...

As ChaosDrgn noted, v2 allows you to specify where your Export Templates are stored. Go to File -> Preferences.. and specify where you have located your templates and HD will take it from there.
