Price of upgrading (when version 2 is released)

<P>I had just logged in to check out what the price of Hero Designer would be, when I saw the posting about playtesting version 2. So I'm wondering- if I bought Hero Designer now, would the upgrade to version 2, when it is finally released, be free, or would I have to pay for the upgrade?</P>

You will have to pay for the upgrade.

I'm not sure on what the pricing will be....that's up to Hero Games. I know that we're planning on releasing a full version as well as an upgrade version...the upgrade will be lower priced.

v1 will continue to be supported throughout this process. Any bugs that are found will be fixed and updates will be posted.

You stated that the "upgrade will be lower priced". That makes sense, of course, but will [v1 + upgrade] be less than purchasing the full version 2 release?

I guess I'm asking should I get v1 now and upgrade later, or would it be better to wait for v2?

Honestly, I don't know....that's really up to Hero Games and they're not going to set the price until we get a bit closer to the final release.

I would <i>expect</i> that the cost of the upgrade will be somewhere around half the cost (or more) of v1 or v2, so buying v1 and then buying the upgrade will be more expensive then just buying the full version of v2.

Of course, doing that would allow you to use HD from now until December.....
