How many earned EP do you have for your main group of characters? If this is different for your present campaign please advise. Also of interest is how often you play and how many EP per session?

My players either get bored of the game before they earn alot of Exp. or I do. For some reason every game I want to keep playing they don't or every game they want to I don't. This was do in large part to one player that was particularly disruptive but he has recently been removed from the game so I hope to get back in the swing of things. Including running a long term "Illuninati" styled game.
I average giving out 3 exp. however since I vary a bit I have been known to give as little as 0 or even negitive exp to as much as 10. Exp is awarded buy the people who make the game the most enjoyable for all those involved more so than actual in game actions.

Our longest running characters started at 250 and are now over 450.
When we switched to 5th edition, the whole world changed around them in a Crisis/Zero Hour type adventure and all the long running villians gained a bunch of points when they switched to their CKC writeups, so the characters may have earned 200+ EP, but are only about 100 EP ahead of "new" starting characters.

Less than 50 apiece, but it is a relatively new campaign...
Hmm...I give out between 3 and 6 XP's per session, we play twice a month, for roughly 5-8 hours each.
EDIT:: and I give a bonus point to anybody that can reduce the ENTIRE gaming group (including me) to hysterics, stunned silence, or "wow, that's cool"

Played weekly. Generally got/gave 2-3 per session. Two campaigns - one as player one as GM. Player - Retired the characters with 300+ XP it ran 8 or so years. The one I GMed ran about 10 years (off an on) and at campaign finish characters were in the 600-700 range, having begun at 250 or so.
The fantasy game I ran was 5 or 6 years; 2-3 XP per session, with other bonuses. Ran approx weekly. Characters retired at 500 or so, having started 200- (very high fantasy).

When a group of us ran the Protectors that got really powerful. The Heroes were originally based in London before branching out also into Newcastle and Manchester. I started out with a 250 pt character. That was 100 point plus disads mind you. Last upgrade to him brought him over 800 points.
That was the Flame.
But we had multiple characters and many games so the points built up. Average per session varies. Usually 1 was the minimum with upto 5 or 6 depending on what had happened.

My current campaign started just around one year ago. Characters started with 350 pts (200 + disads) and now have ~ 120 XP.
Typical XP award is 3 per weekly session. That allowed the relatively quick character growth I wanted - The New Defenders started as a local NYC hero group, but now they are becoming more like The Avengers and can protect against worldwide threats.
Some other notes regarding XP:
- I'm the main GM but we occasionally rotate GM duties. The GM's PC is awarded XP just like everyone else, because it seems unfair that whoever GMs the most winds up with the weakest character.
- Everyone gets the same XP. We're playing for fun, not competition. If I had a player that was dragging down the group, I'd speak to the player to resolve the problem. If we couldn't fix the problem, I'd boot them from the game rather than give them less XP.
- If a player switches characters, the new PC starts at 350 pts. That PC gets doubled XP awards until they have half the XP of the original characters, then they collect normal XP.

We Have a very diverse group of heros, ranging from 400points to a massive 1935 .
I am the Gm ATM, and i also give out 2-3 a game, unless circumstances say other wise
(A white event scenario, something of that sort will get an extra point due to the impact on the universe it has)

These answer while divers point to some good consistnecy in HERO. It is good to see that other like me run real campaigns were players earn a good amount of EP.
Presently my main group of heroes has earned around 130 ep each. They started fresh with FRED. We do have older pre fred chracters that have earned lots of EP. Shade (mitch Rhudy) I believe is over 2500 points. Horror Hunter and Weapon are not far behind. Keneton, my name sake hase 1140 earned EP.

My group has been playing for the past 10 years straight, so on the average they've earned about 150 or more points each. One character has earned over 225 points!
These points are earned at a rate of about 2 points per gaming session. Sometimes more than 2 points is given out by me, sometimes less, depending on the scenario.

10 years ... 150 points ... 2 points per session. This means you only get to play 7.5 times per year :(

Well, I was thinking the question was from the GM point of view, but since lemming answered from the other side of it and he's playing in my game, and I'm playing in his, I did the decent thing and reversed my answer to be from the player perspective. So currently 0 (that lemming's a miserable stingy bastard - nah, seriously, it's the kind of game where you're high powered so you don't really go up). And oddly enough it seems in other games I've played in its generally low XP growth, while in the games I run it's high XP growth - the players are currently mostly over 150, lemming's character is behind just from starting in the game later.

I have three characters still active in my campaign that are over 20 years active, for them about 700 to 800 XP. Then my second group, over five years active now, range from about 75 to 300. My newest group was designed at 350 but reduced to 250 to represent the fact they are all teens. So far, in a couple of weeks of irregular play they are at about 6 to 8.
As a GM I usually present 2 or 3 XP per week and the week doesn't always mean a single session. Also I will designate where some XP goes depending on the characters activities over the week. My Co-GM isn't so concerned about PC activities and generally allows us to spend as we see fit. She is also more liberal with her XP, generally 1 to 3 XP per actual session.
