I already asked about people's 'favorite alien races' in Terran Empire but couldn't make it fit on a poll. However, I think I can squeeze the list of Milky Way Empires, Confederations, Federations, and more into one. :)

I voted for Conjoined because they contain my favorite race, the Se'ecra. I can just imagine all the fun RPing one of them.

I went with Malva, just because SOMEONE has to... :)
*Yawn* "Should we send our battle fleet to obliterate them, or have grapes?" ;)

Grapes!

Wouldn't they just tune their battle fleet to produce grapes as exhaust?

I went with Malva myself, because the idea of a conquering interstellar army with superpowered warriors in the vanguard has always appealed to me. In my campaign world the Malvan Empire still exists, but is in a condition similar to the late Roman empire: widespread societal corruption and decadence, foreigners (aliens) increasingly prominent in government and the military, etc.
My Malvans are generally physically superior to humans, and develop superpowers with the same frequency as the humans of Champions Earth, mostly with "elemental" SFX. They owe these powers, and their violent and domineering attitude, to the emanations of one of the Kings of Edom who is secretly imprisoned at the core of their planet. (Yes, I have a scenario waiting on that.) ;)

I voted Mon'dabi (surprise, surprise), but I would like to point out that "other" is still a valid option here. There's the Hzeel, Mandaarians, and various others... plus there's that big expanse of uncharted space between the Mon'dabi and the Velarians (and I really, really wonder what's out there). :D

Had to vote Thorgon, 'cuz they're my favorite bad guys in the galaxy. And they remind me, somewhat, of the Morthans from David Gerrold's [u]Star Wolf[/i] novels.

Clearly folks are into the Malvan thing ;)
As for the others you mention... they don't have Empires or close facsimiles (Neither do the Malvans, but I made an exception ;) )
As for that big expanse, if I recall a brief mention in the GM vault... over time it's going to be settled/conquered... and not by the Mon'dabi.
I AM very tempted to skip that and shove my own little creation there instead :)

Pg 200, in the GM's vault section, last item on that page I believe. Mind you, it doesn't necessarily preclude or prevent rivals, but the feel I got was that this particular race would be getting the majority of that pie.
I could have read it wrong though.

By and large, Hermit's assumption is correct -- the race in question expands into said area over time. But that's not to say they might not find some strange folx there....

Yay! I'm correct... hmm with provisos... rats, I hate provisos.. ;)
Actually, the more I think about it, some sort of organized resistance to that expansion by the 'natives' is inevitible. Some worlds might join the Valarian Confederation for protection, others might form their own organization of similar nature.
Yup, definitely going to put something on the northward rim.

Yup, definitely going to put something on the northward rim. I'm having very similar thoughts, especially since my (planned) campaign will be taking place in Mon'dabi space.
