Hi, first off I'd like to say the design upgrades for Herodesigner 2.x are welcomed additions to an already great program.

Here's my problem: while editing a character built using Herodesigner v.1.x I recieved a strange error when trying to edit a compound power which also happens to be a slot in a multipower. The error, basically said limited effect powers cannot be inside multipowers, and that the power would be placed outside the multipower. Unfortunately, I cannot give you the exact phrasing as it was only readable the first time and has either not appeared (although the power is still placed outside the multipower along with all other slots within the multipower) or has appeared as only a blank message box.

Now here is my question(s):
1) Why is it doing that (I am unfamiliar with the "limited effect/Multipower" rule),

2) is there anyway to shut it off using custom campaign rules or some other feature, and finally

3) if there is currently no way to turn it off or change the setting, is there anyway that feature could be added...

Many thanx in advance,

First off, there should never be a blank dialog....if there is, it means that an error has likely occurred -- in which case you should post the "trace.log" file from your install directory so that I can get the error fixed.

Now, on Limited Effect:

Any Modifier placed on a Power Framework (or list in general) must be applicable to all items place in that list.

Limited Effect is a Modifier for Sense-Affecting Powers. If it is placed on a list, all items that go into that list must, therefore, be Sense-Affecting Powers.

From the sound of things, your Compound Power contains at least one ability which is not a Sense-Affecting Power. It is therefore not allowed in your MP while Limited Effect is assigned.

There is nothing to be adjusted or "turned off" here....it's a basic rule for the Hero System.

You may want to be sure that you didn't mean to purchase "Limited Power".

Just a note: if you had purchased "Limited Special Effect" instead of "Limited Effect" the same statement applies:

"Limited Special Effect" is an Adjustment Power Modifier. It only applies to Adjustment Powers. If the CompoundPower contains a non-Adjustment Power, then it cannot be assigned to the Multipower while "Limited Special Effect" is on the Multipower.

The trace log, by the way, shows no errors, so I'm assuming that it is not from one of the sessions in which you received a blank dialog.

BTW, you were right (you guys are always right) I had used LImited SFX instead of Limited Power for one of the limitations...cleared it all up...

Thanx,
