While at my parents for Christmas, I was informed that my 13-year old nephew Logan was "just like you." Which translated to mean he read science fiction and fantasy, watched the same, and was interested in assorted RPGs. In fact, he spent most of the day reading through the different RPGs books of mine my mom has (she has no idea what they're about, but hey, her son wrote, or helped write them!) Talking to him I found he was playing AD&D and wanted a Monster Manual. Talking to my brother and sister-in-law, I've gotten the okay to get him one (I plan to visit the local game store that stocked used books). I also mentioned bringing him to GenCon when he's old enough -- which might happen when he turns 16. So come GenCon 2013, I may be brining my nephew along!

Heh. He better have evolved forward to a Real game like HERO or Feng Shui by then. That DnD stuff will do bad things to you if you let it go unchecked for 3 whole years. :D

May son is the same age. Since GenCon is a week earlier this year, and no longer on the weekend that school starts, he might be coming with me.

I noticed last year, during the demo schlepping I was doing for the Judge Dredd, Traveller, and Hammers Slammers stuff, that a LOT of folks, are starting to bring the youngins with. It was also especially funny when these 13 year olds pulled up chairs at the gaming table, and proceeded to mop the floor with Gencon Alumni left and right RP wise. So, I hope to see more of the same this year.
