View Full Version : Sugestion on Unavailable Limitations and Advantages

Dan,

Could you please make Unavailable Limitations (and Advantages) a bit more available? :)

The reason that I ask is because I was trying to create a basic shield for my game. I'm building it as a Compound Power with a small amount of Armor as one power, and +2 DCV as the other. I would like to apply the "Real Armor" and "STR Minimum" disads to the DCV, but the program disallows them because "Real Armor can only be applied to abilities of type defense" and "STR Minimum can only be applied to abilities of type attack". However, these are exceptions to the general rule when creating shields, I believe. (I could be wrong, since I don't actually have a copy of Fantasy Hero yet, so if shields have changed significantly, then I'm not yet aware of it.)

I would like to suggest that "Unavailable Limitations" be reworded to "Discouraged Limitations" and be selectible when a preference is set in the Settings Menu. This way, some counterintuitive constructs that don't immediately make sense could still be used. I realize that I can just apply custom limitations to do the job for now, so please take this as a humble request to help speed up some things.

On a slightly related note, I'd like to suggest adding another option to Reduced Endurance, which would be called "Cost END only to Activate". This would behave just like the advantage, but would work instead as a limiation for powers which already cost END to turn on and maintain each phase. I use this quite a bit as a "Custom Limitation" for my games, and I thought maybe others might too. Just a thought.

Thanks for considering,
Steve

Simple answer: absolutely not. They are unavailable because they are not legal modifiers. Period.

If you don't care about that, then turn off modifier intelligence (in the app prefs).

On the "Costs END Only To Activate" thing, there's a separate Advantage for that....it doesn't belong under Reduced END (it's not reducing the END).

I just took off the controls on the Modifier that had it set to Body Affecting Powers only....there may be a bit more work to put in for the Modifier Intelligence, however....I'll have to look at it a bit.

It can only be applied to Constant Powers.
