Dan if I download Ver 2 will it make it so I can't use Ver 1? My concern is that after the play test period I will no longer have my copy of Ver 1

Whatever installation you load v2 over will need to either be converted to the full version when v2 is released or uninstalled.

There's nothing stopping you from having 2 installations on the same machine, however, so, if you're concerned, just install a second copy of v1 onto your machine (in a different directory) and load v2 over that.
