Well, the Marquis never appealed to me personally, but whatever floats Steve's boat. ;)

He seems to have an 80s fixation. A few months ago it was John Cougar Mellencamp.

What's to complain about Sade?
I'll only worry when the quote of the week is: "We got it goin' on, and the reason for that is our mojo."
(Highly obscure. Rep to whomever identifies it.)

No such thing. ;) What I have, given what I decided to try for song quotes this year, is a fixation on songs where every line is title-quote-worthy. It just so happens that the first two I thought of came from the same decade. It's possible the third one will as well; I haven't picked it from my list of possibles yet.

Hey, it sounds like Steve puts more thought into it than goes into picking the list of names for future Hurricanes (Earl? really??).

At least it didn't follow hurricane Duke. :)

Being into blues, jazz, lounge, traditional latin beats, texas blues, and the like, Sade is great music.

Well, I try. ;) In this particular case, for this year's project of "quote entire songs a line at a time," I definitely have to think about it because the songs need to meet certain criteria. First, every line has to make for a good news update title. Second, the song can have no more than a few lines that repeat -- I had to reject Coldplay's Viva La Vida, a rare example of a modern song that I really like*, for that reason, too much repetition. Third, the lines have to be at worst PG-13 -- Third Eye Blind's very quotable Semi-Charmed Life loses out on this score, they did too good a job of manifesting Lou Reed in a Nineties West Coast kinda way. ;) But I have a few more in mind to round out the year; it's just a question of picking the best one.
*: This is further proof of the "put classical stringed instruments in your rock/pop and Steve will probably like it" theorem, also known as the E.L.O. Principle. ;)

Yup! I really enjoy what's called "sophistipop" -- rock/pop songs with significant jazz influences, starting with the likes of Steely Dan and Boz Scaggs all the way up through Sade, Swing Out Sister, Basia, and beyond. It's just the sort of thing when I'm in a certain mood, and definitely conducive to getting work done.
