Version 2.0.33 is ready for download.
I wanted to get this one out to testing in order to make sure that the new performance enhancements don't cause any issues. There are some MAJOR performance improvements in this version....hopefully noticeable for everybody.
If numbers don't seem to be syncing up for any characters, let me know....they should all work fine, but then, this is what testing is for ;-)
Enjoy!

Dan,
First time I loaded this version up, it said something about the loader changing, and then that I had to restart, and then it exited.
Upon restart, I notice that the load time is higher (especially in the last part, the interface building), but everything else is significantly faster.
Nice work!

That notice is fine (and perfectly normal)...that was HD updating its launcher file.
The changes to the launcher file basically sacrifice a little bit of startup time in favor of faster overall run time. I cache a lot of stuff during the startup and put some parameters into the optimizer that cause it to do the same.

Played around with it last night. It does take about 33% more time to load, but did not freeze up as much as in the past. Transition from screen to screen was smoother. I ran it with one character up...now I need to try multiple characters with lots of lists. That's were I usually get the "not responding" message from the OS.
Will let you know.

I'd also be curious to know how much available RAM your system has before you startup.
If you were getting "Not Responding..." from you OS on v2, then it sounds like you were running into Swap Space....given the significantly lowered RAM requirements of v2, this would tend to indicate a rather small amount of available RAM before starting HD.

How much RAM would you recommend?

How much have you got?
;)
HDv2 will take up to 64MB. If you don't have 64MB available when HDv2 is running, it will likely be running in Swap Space.

More notes on performance:
I've been doing some tuning on the character load process and have made some fairly significant improvements. I'll likely push out a new build later today or tomorrow so that folks can try it out (as well as getting some bug fixes to a few folks that have reported them).

The computer has 128 MB of RAM. Please remind me where I can monitor/change that setting on XP so I can run HD at peak.

That's an extremely low amount of RAM....especially to be running XP.
You're almost certainly running HD in swap space, which means that performance will be several orders of magnitude slower than if you had enough memory.
You can monitor your memory usage under XP by opening up the Task Manager (you can get at this easily by right-clicking on the start bar).
You can free up memory by shutting down all other applications that you have running....but even then you're going to be low -- quite possibly still running in Swap Space.
You may want to look into grabbing some more RAM for that system....XP is really happiest when it has chunks of free RAM to run with...
