A weird one; just a second ago I was working with HD 2.0.33 with two characters open. It crashed (the first time I've seen a crash) with no error message and nothing in the trace.log file. When I relaunched, I discovered that 2.0.34 had been released. I think I probably got it first, since I downloaded it before a notice was posted about it here.
Anyway, the character I was editing when it crashed, when opened in 2.0.34, has no disadvantages listed. They are clearly visible (and, to my inexperienced eye, not obviously damaged) in the .hdc file. I've included it below.
