I downloaded the latest version, and now Hero Designer doesn't load. I clicked on the shortcut, the cursor changed for 2 seconds, and then nothing happened. I went to the actual icon (HeroDesigner.exe) and watched the process screen in the Windows Task Manager. herodesigner.exe went to the top of the screen for 2 seconds, and then disappeared from the process list.
My Trace log is empty, or I would have attached it.
Any thoughts?

Have you tried redownloading it?

As Rod indicated, it definitely sounds like a bad d/l.
Pull the update.jar down again and you should be good to go.

You have yet to report an error.
If you're not seeing the splash screen, then the problem is in Java's startup, which means either that something has gone wrong on your system and corrupted your installation or that you have a corrupted copy of update.jar
If you're seeing the splash screen, then you will either see something in the trace.log file or you will get an error message from the launcher app.
I can promise you that the update is working fine (at least as far as starting up). If you've tried pulling it down multiple times already, then check your cache settings in your browser....chances are your browser is just saving off the cached (corrupted) copy each time.

You've done one of two things:
1. You have tried to apply the v2 update to a v1 installation without running the upgrade process.
2. You have overwritten/deleted "Hero Designer.jar" from your v2 installation directory.

Thank you all for your help. I re-installed v1 from scratch and everything is working again. I may try installing and testing v2 again, once I've done all the work I need to do for my next game...
