I am wondering if the character packs are going to be updated to take advantage of all the chunky goodness in HDv2 now in testing? If so will there be an upgrade cost to get the upgraded packs? What are the criteria to help with the updateing process, if you decide to go this way ( in other words how do I apply to help create/upgrade a character pack?).

I am a long time Herophile (been GMing/playing since 1st edition), an 18 year US Navy vet (this really has no bearing but I figure maybe I can play the vet sympathy card :D ), and a computer science major in college (getting close to completeing my bachelors degree at the ripe old age of 43).

I am well versed in both VB.net and C#.net, have worked with XML and HTML, and soon to start with Java and ASP.

I am also working on a top secret Hero utility that I will pitch to Steve when it is complete (ok a little hint, it is a companion app to HD), I could reveal more but then I'd have to invoke a 20d6 penetrating, NNDRKA (the defense is being me) on someone.....

We have no specific plans to change the existing Character Packs; it would be too expensive and/or too much work for us. But of course, any Character Packs produced after HD2 is available will be created with it, not prior versions.

What are the differences as seen in the character packs? How would they change from v1 to v2? I mean write up would be the same and such, right?

Yes, but the underlying data format might well change from v1 to v2. So, a character/prefab/template created under v1 may have a different structure than v2, and so, be unusable in some form.

Dan's taking steps to insure backwards compatibility, every character I've opened in the v2 test has worked, even the wonky Enhanced Senses stuff that Dan's revised so heavily for v2.

So, FWIW, I'm not seeing any major issues in the character packs I've got.
