In the Sixth Edition rules on page 141 we are told to half the effect of an adjustment power (say a drain) against defenses like PD or BODY. A few questions.

Do we apply any Power Defense the target has before or after we cut the effect in half? For example, if I roll a 8 on a 2D6 Drain Body and the target's power defense is 4, do I drain (8-4)/2 = 2 Body, or do I drain (8/2)-4 = 0 Body?

For an odd numbered result, what do I do with the half point? If I roll a 2D6 Drain Body against 0 power defense and get a 7, does the target lose 3 body, 4 body, or 3.5 body precisely (and then I use the incremental characteristic rules on SE 138)?

Does the half rule effect the return rate for the target as well? That is to say, one turn later when the Drain victim recovers his Body, does he recover 5 Body or 2.5 Body?

1. Power Defense applies first, then any remaining “damage” suffered by the target is half effect as described in the rulebook.

2. Standard HERO System rounding rules apply.

3. The victim/recipient of an Adjustment Power that affects a defensive Characteristic or ability regains/loses the removed/added points of effect at the standard rate of 5 Character Points per Turn (or other time increment defined by the Delayed Return Rate Advantage). The “halved” effect of the Adjustment Power does not apply to the recovery rate.
